It is the awesome responsibility of parents to choose names for their offspring. In picking suitable names, they must try to find ones meeting certain standards regarded as desirable in our society. Specifically, names should be (1) short, (2) modern, (3) euphonious, (4) free of unpleasant connotations, (5) easy to pronounce, (6) matching the sex of the child being named, and (7) distinctive
Considering the recovery and study of descriptive documents as a fundamental element of historic and historiographic reconstruction and review of musical practice in general, and cathedral music in particular, is a topic whose value should be increased as a critical manoeuvre. With that purpose, in the present article, transcribed documentation contributes essential data for a qualitative review on the first polyphonic batches —of which we have evidence— written in the Cathedral of Cuenca. It is our understanding that the content of the present inventories transcends simple qualification of scores and certifies that the quality of Cuenca’s music chapel, since the beginning of the 17th century, was comparable to that of other Hispanic chapels of greater notoriety.

READING PAINTINGS: THE INSCRIPTIONS IN THE PAINTED IN MEXICO, 1700-1790: PINXIT MEXICI EXHIBITION ANALYZED THROUGH THE LENS OF MIECZYSŁAW WALLIS
The acclaimed 2017-2018 Painted in Mexico, 1700-1790: Pinxit Mexici Exhibition and
its corresponding catalogue reintroduced the world to the paintings of eighteenth-century
Mexico. Presented alongside each other, the over one hundred paintings in the collection are
frequently distinguished by one element: text. This paper takes into account this unique element
and examines the applicability of the typology outlined by art historian Mieczsław Wallis in
“Inscriptions in Paintings,” a seminal article on the topic of painting inscriptions. Wallis defines
four categories of painting inscription based on function: identification, statement, invocation,
and artist statement. Analysis of the 95 inscribed paintings in the catalogue reveals that over
52% of inscriptions functioned as forms of identification, over 8% functioned as statements, over
2% functioned as invocations, and over 35% functioned as artist statements. Three conclusions
can be drawn from this research: first, Wallis’ typology generally applies; second, the outliers
which the typology struggles to categorize indicate refinements can be made; and third, a fifth
category could be added to class didactic statements

Prehispanics objects in testaments of indians (Province of Tucuman, 1608 and 1619)
Prehispanic objects bequests in wills of Indians (governor of Tucuman, 1608 and 1619) We present two wills of Indians of the Governor of Tucumán of interest because some of the legacies objects were related to pre-Hispanic ceremonial; its destruction had been advised in the sixteenth century by the missionaries who tried to eradicate the "idolatrías indígenas." These objects reappeared in some wills and in the rebellion led by a false Inca. In addition, the familiar and commercial networks of which Ynes and Quisma comprised lead again to the pre-Hispanic cacicazgo de Marapa and acllahuasi of Maquijata, whose tenuous characteristics we delimited in previous works; also they contribute data about "república de segundones y mestizos" that, as of century XVII, it comprised of the sociopolitical organization of Tucuman. Our commentaries are based on the reading and study of original documents, field work and bibliography on the subject.Fil: Gentile, Margarita Elvira.
