Afghanistan is a strategic hub connecting South Asia, Central Asia and West Asia. The United States, Russia, India and other power countries are extremely concerned with Afghanistan. Although the United States will gradually withdraw, it will retain military bases in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is currently in a critical period of transition from war to peace. To deal with the chaos in Afghanistan in the era of withdrawal, China needs to layout in Afghanistan early. This can not only promote the stability of China’s western region, but also help China and Central and Western Asian countries to promote cooperation under the framework of The Belt and Road Initiatives. The key to layout in Afghanistan is the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has achieved remarkable results in Pakistan. China Investment and construction experiences in Pakistan will bring better economic benefits to Afghanistan and china

Identification of causative genes or genetic variants associated with phenotype traits benefits the genetic improvement of animals. CISH plays a role in immunity and growth, however, the upstream transcriptional factors of porcine CISH and the genetic variations in these factors remain unclear. In this study, we firstly identified the minimal core promoter of porcine CISH and confirmed the existence of STATx binding sites. Overexpression and RT-qPCR demonstrated STAT5A increased CISH transcriptional activity (P < 0.01) and mRNA expression (P < 0.01), while GATA1 inhibited CISH transcriptional activity (P < 0.01) and the following mRNA expression (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Then, the putative functional genetic variations of porcine STAT5A were screened and a PCR-SSCP was established for genotype g.508A>C and g.566C>T. Population genetic analysis showed the A allele frequency of g.508A>C and C allele frequency of g.566C>T was 0.61 and 0.94 in Min pigs, respectively, while these two alleles were fixed in the Landrace population. Statistical analysis showed that Min piglets with CC genotype at g.566C>T or Hap1: AC had higher 28-day body weight, 35-day body weight, and ADG than TC or Hap3: CT animals (P < 0.05, P < 0.05). Further luciferase activity assay demonstrated that the activity of g.508A>C in the C allele was lower than the A allele (P < 0.05). Collectively, the present study demonstrated that STAT5A positively regulated porcine CISH transcription, and SNP g.566C>T in the STAT5A was associated with the Min piglet growth trait

On August 15, 2021, the Taliban overthrew the Ghani government and returned to power. The Afghan Taliban government’s ability to govern and its foreign policy are still unclear. China, as a neighboring country of Afghanistan, has always been friendly with the Afghan people and has no historical hatred. As a neighbor of Afghanistan, China can play a constructive role in the smooth transition of the situation in Afghanistan by taking advantage of being a neighbor. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a key mechanism for China to develop China-Afghanistan economic and trade relations. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has achieved remarkable results in Pakistan. With the return of the Taliban to power and the return of calm in Afghanistan after the U.S. withdrawal, the extension of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan has become a common goal promoted by China, Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, it remains to be seen where the Taliban government returns to power, and the international community is cautious about its attitude. On March 30-31, 2022, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi hosted the third meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbors in Tunxi, Anhui Province, attended by the foreign ministers or representatives of Pakistan, Iran, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Wang Yi also hosted the “Afghanistan Neighbors + Afghanistan” Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue and invited Acting Foreign Minister Mottaki of the Taliban government to attend. This is a new starting point for China-Afghanistan cooperation and friendship. Sichuan can take advantage of its distance and infrastructure to contribute to the Sino-Afghan friendship

Airborne bacteria are significantly affected by meteorological and environmental conditions. However, there is little quantitative data available on the effects of these factors on airborne bacteria in urban ecosystems. In the present study, we analyzed weather-dependent changes in the composition of airborne bacterial communities using high throughput sequencing. Samples were collected before and after a period of constant hot weather at four selected sampling sites (YRBS, ZJGUSJC, TJCR, and BLQG) in Hangzhou. Our results show that the average amount of bacterial 16S rRNA gene copy numbers per m3 of air decreased significantly after constant high temperature. In addition, the number of operational taxonomic units and the Shannon–Wiener diversity indexes of the samples at all four selected sampling sites were significantly decreased after the heat event, showing notable impact on bacterial diversity. We also detected a significant increase in the abundances of spore-forming bacteria. Firmicutes increased from 3.7% to 9.9%, Bacillales increased from 2.6% to 7.6%, and Bacillaceae increased from 1.5% to 5.9%. In addition, we observed an increase in beta-Proteobacteria (18.2% to 50.3%), Rhodocyclaceae (6.9% to 29.9%), and Burkholderiaceae (8.1% to 15.2%). On the other hand, the abundance of alpha-Proteobacteria (39.6% to 9.8%), Caulobacteraceae (17.9% to 0.5%), Sphingomonadaceae (7.2% to 3.3%), and Xanthomonadaceae (3.0% to 0.5%) was significantly lower. Taken together, our data suggest that the composition of airborne bacterial communities varies greatly dependent on heat events, and that such communities include several species that are highly susceptible to high-temperature related stressors such as high air temperature, low relative humidity, and high intensity of solar radiation

Influence of multiple irreversible losses on the performance of a molten carbonate fuel cell-gas turbine hybrid system

    No full text
In this study, a new molten carbonate fuel cell-gas turbine hybrid system, which consists of a fuel cell, three heat exchangers, a compressor, and a turbine, is established. The multiple irreversible losses existing in real hybrid systems are taken into account by the models of a molten carbonate fuel cell and an open Brayton cycle with a regenerative process. Expressions for the power outputs and efficiencies of the subsystems and hybrid system are derived. The maximum power output and efficiency of the hybrid system are numerically calculated. It is found that compared with a single molten carbonate fuel cell, both the power output and efficiency of the hybrid system are greatly enhanced. The general performance characteristics of the hybrid system are evaluated and the optimal criteria of the main performance parameters are determined. The effects of key irreversibilities on the performance of the hybrid system are investigated in detail. It is found that the use of a regenerator in the gas turbine can availably improve the power output and efficiency of the system. The results obtained here are significant and may be directly used to discuss the optimal performance of the hybrid system in special cases. Copyright (C) 2012, Hydrogen Energy Publications, LLC. A generic model of the hybrid system mainly consisting of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and a heat engine is established, in which some main irreversibilities existing in real hybrid systems are considered. On the basis of the developed models of the SOFC and Brayton cycle with a regenerative process, analytical expressions for the power outputs and efficiencies of the subsystems and hybrid system are derived. It is found that for given parameters, the maximum power density of the hybrid system may attain 3.24 times of that of a single SOFC. Moreover, the general performance characteristics of the hybrid system are revealed and the optimal criteria of some of the main operating parameters are determined. The influence of the regenerative process in the heat engine is discussed in detail. It shows that through the introduction of a regenerator in the heat engine, the maximum power output of the hybrid system under the ideal regenerative condition will increase 51.51%. It is important to note that the results obtained here may be directly used to reveal the general performance characteristics of some special interesting hybrid systems consisting of a SOFC and a gas turbine or a Carnot heat engine.National Natural Science Foundation [51076134]; Fundamental Research Fund for the Central Universities), People's Republic of China [201112G007
