Local disorder and optical properties in V-shaped quantum wires : towards one-dimensional exciton systems
The exciton localization is studied in GaAs/GaAlAs V-shaped quantum wires
(QWRs) by high spatial resolution spectroscopy. Scanning optical imaging of
different generations of samples shows that the localization length has been
enhanced as the growth techniques were improved. In the best samples, excitons
are delocalized in islands of length of the order of 1 micron, and form a
continuum of 1D states in each of them, as evidenced by the sqrt(T) dependence
of the radiative lifetime. On the opposite, in the previous generation of QWRs,
the localization length is typically 50 nm and the QWR behaves as a collection
of quantum boxes. These localization properties are compared to structural
properties and related to the progresses of the growth techniques. The presence
of residual disorder is evidenced in the best samples and explained by the
separation of electrons and holes due to the large in-built piezo-electric
field present in the structure.Comment: 8 figure
Probing neutral top-pion via a flavor-changing process
In the framework of topcolor-assisted-technicolor model(TC2), we study a
flavor-changing neutral top-pion production process . The study shows that there exists a resonance effect
which can enhance the cross section up to a few fb even tens fb. For a yearly
luminosity 100 at future linear colliders, there might be hundreds
even thousands events to be produced. On the other hand, the background of such
flavor-changing process is very clean due to the GIM mechanism in SM . With
such sufficient events and clean background, neutral toppion could be detected
at future linear colliders with high center of energy and luminosity. Our study
provides a possible way to test TC2 model.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures,has been accepted by Phys.Rev.
Constitutive Modeling for AlβCuβMg Alloy in Creep Aging Process
The aim of this paper is to develop a set of creep aging constitutive equations for AlβCuβMg alloys containing plate- or rod-like precipitates. Average length, aspect ratio and relative volume fraction are introduced to quantitatively analyze precipitates evaluation of such alloy in creep aging process. The strong interaction between creep deformation and aging treatment is considered by the intermediate state variables of dislocation density and precipitate characteristic dimension. A unified creep aging constitutive equation is derived, in which the correlations between microscopic characteristics and macroperformances of material are linked by the yield strength of the material. Using AA2124 as subject, a series of uniaxial tensile creep tests are carried out at 185Β°C for 12 h under different stresses. The material constants within constitutive models are determined with the experimental data. A good agreement between experimental and computed values confirms that the established constitutive equations can well characterize the creep behaviors

Molecular evidence of the haploid origin in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with Aegilops kotschyi cytoplasm and whole genome expression profiling after haploidization
Aegiolops kotschyi cytoplasmic male sterile system often results in part of haploid plants in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). To elucidate the origin of haploid, 235 wheat microsatellite (SSR) primers were randomly selected and screened for polymorphism between haploid (2n = 3x = 21 ABD) and its parents, male-sterile line YM21 (2n = 6x = 42 AABBDD) and male fertile restorer YM2 (2n = 6x = 42 AABBDD). About 200 SSR markers yielded clear bands from denatured PAGE, of which 180 markers have identifiable amplification patterns, and 20 markers (around 8%) resulted in different amplification products between the haploid and the restorer, YM2. There were no SSR markers that were found to be distinguishable between the haploid and the male sterile line YM21. In addition, different distribution of HMW-GS between endosperm and seedlings from the same seeds further confirmed that the haploid genomes were inherited from the maternal parent. After haploidization, 1.7% and 0.91% of total sites were up- and down-regulated exceeding twofold in the shoot and the root of haploid, respectively, and most of the differentially expressed loci were up/down-regulated about twofold. Out of the sensitive loci in haploid, 94 loci in the shoot, 72 loci in the root can be classified into three functional subdivisions: biological process, cellular component and molecular function, respectively
Oscillatory nonlinear differential magnetoresistance of highly mobile 2D electrons in high Landau levels
We examine the current-induced magnetoresistance oscillations in
high-mobility two-dimensional electron systems using the balance-equation
scheme for nonlinear magnetotransort. The reported analytical expressions for
differential magnetoresistivity at high filling factors in the overlapping
Landau-level regime, which show good agreement with the experimental
observation and the numerical calculation, may be helpful in extracting
physical information from experiments.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
Expression of anion exchanger 2 in human gastric cancer
Anion exchanger 2 (AE2), which mediates exchange of Cl-/HCO3- across the plasma membrane, is widely expressed in body tissues. It is most abundantly expressed in stomach and is responsible for the uptake of Cl- ions that are destined to become HCl molecules. Aim: To determine whether AE2 expression was altered in gastric tumors. Methods: We have studied AE2 expression in normal human gastric tissues (n =16) and in gastric tumors (n = 33) using immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescent labeling. Results: In normal gastric tissue positive staining was observed in gastric fundus gland, suggesting parietal cell-related expression of AE2, and AE2 expression was localized in the nuclear membrane and even in cell nuclei. For assay of cancerous gastric tissues, specimens of human gastric cancer arising from the region of the fundus (2 cases), the body (14 cases) and the antrum (17 cases) were randomly selected. Immunohistochemical staining has showed that AE2 was down-regulated in all 14 cancerous gastric body specimens, whereas staining for AE2 in cancerous antrum was less intense and had a diffuse profile. Conclusions: The data suggest that AE2 might be associated with gastric carcinogenesis and the achlorhydria experienced by gastric cancer patients.ΠΠ½ΠΈΠΎΠ½Π½ΡΠΉ ΠΎΠ±ΠΌΠ΅Π½Π½ΠΈΠΊ 2 (ΠΠ2), ΠΊΠΎΡΠΎΡΡΠΉ ΠΎΠΏΠΎΡΡΠ΅Π΄ΡΠ΅Ρ ΠΏΠ΅ΡΠ΅Π½ΠΎΡ Cl-

Probing Topcolor-Assisted Technicolor from Top-Charm Associated Production at LHC
We propose to probe the topcolor-assisted technicolor (TC2) model from the
top-charm associated productions at the LHC, which are highly suppressed in the
Standard Model. Due to the flavor-changing couplings of the top quark with the
scalars (top-pions and top-Higgs) in TC2 model, the top-charm associated
productions can occur via both the s-channel and t-channel parton processes by
exchanging a scalar field at the LHC. We examined these processes through Monte
Carlo simulation and found that they can reach the observable level at the LHC
in quite a large part of the parameter space of the TC2 model.Comment: Version to appear in PRD (Rapid Communication
