Print-Scan Resilient Text Image Watermarking Based on Stroke Direction Modulation for Chinese Document Authentication
Print-scan resilient watermarking has emerged as an attractive way for document security. This paper proposes an stroke direction modulation technique for watermarking in Chinese text images. The watermark produced by the idea offers robustness to print-photocopy-scan, yet provides relatively high embedding capacity without losing the transparency. During the embedding phase, the angle of rotatable strokes are quantized to embed the bits. This requires several stages of preprocessing, including stroke generation, junction searching, rotatable stroke decision and character partition. Moreover, shuffling is applied to equalize the uneven embedding capacity. For the data detection, denoising and deskewing mechanisms are used to compensate for the distortions induced by hardcopy. Experimental results show that our technique attains high detection accuracy against distortions resulting from print-scan operations, good quality photocopies and benign attacks in accord with the future goal of soft authentication
Mgb2 Nonlinear Properties Investigated under Localized High RF Magnetic Field Excitation
In order to increase the accelerating gradient of Superconducting Radio
Frequency (SRF) cavities, Magnesium Diboride (MgB2) opens up hope because of
its high transition temperature and potential for low surface resistance in the
high RF field regime. However, due to the presence of the small superconducting
gap in the {\pi} band, the nonlinear response of MgB2 is potentially quite
large compared to a single gap s-wave superconductor (SC) such as Nb.
Understanding the mechanisms of nonlinearity coming from the two-band structure
of MgB2, as well as extrinsic sources, is an urgent requirement. A localized
and strong RF magnetic field, created by a magnetic write head, is integrated
into our nonlinear-Meissner-effect scanning microwave microscope [1]. MgB2
films with thickness 50 nm, fabricated by a hybrid physical-chemical vapor
deposition technique on dielectric substrates, are measured at a fixed location
and show a strongly temperature-dependent third harmonic response. We propose
that at least two mechanisms are responsible for this nonlinear response, one
of which involves vortex nucleation and penetration into the film. [1] T. M.

The Focal Heat Flux Distribution Measurement of High-times Concentrating Directional Transmission System
The concentrating performance of solar energy plays an important role in its application at high temperature. Recently, High-times Concentrating Directional Transmission System (CDTS) was built in the authors’ laboratory. To evaluate the focal flux distribution of a solar concentrator, a kind of measurement system was established, in which an infrared camera and several thermocouples along with a heat flow meter were employed, and the clear heat flux distribution of focal spot was obtained. The skew ray tracing principle was used to simulate the process of solar energy transmission and compared with the test results.

Performance of Photosensors in the PandaX-I Experiment
We report the long term performance of the photosensors, 143 one-inch
R8520-406 and 37 three-inch R11410-MOD photomultipliers from Hamamatsu, in the
first phase of the PandaX dual-phase xenon dark matter experiment. This is the
first time that a significant number of R11410 photomultiplier tubes were
operated in liquid xenon for an extended period, providing important guidance
to the future large xenon-based dark matter experiments.Comment: v3 as accepted by JINST with modifications based on reviewers'

Teleoperation experiments with a Utah/MIT hand and a VPL DataGlove
A teleoperation system capable of controlling a Utah/MIT Dextrous Hand using a VPL DataGlove as a master is presented. Additionally the system is capable of running the dextrous hand in robotic (autonomous) mode as new programs are developed. The software and hardware architecture used is presented and the experiments performed are described. The communication and calibration issues involved are analyzed and applications to the analysis and development of automated dextrous manipulations are investigated
Thermal Performance Analysis of High-temperature Heat Transfer Process of Solar Energy
Volumetric solar receivers (VSR) have become a promising technology for the solar thermal conversion. The absorption of the concentrated solar radiation and the heat transfer to the working fluid are the two dominant processes. Firstly, the effects of two typical modeling approaches of the concentrated solar radiation for receiver are compared in view of porosity and mean cell size. Then, the radiation transport within the solar window and the porous absorber is fully simulated. The effects of porous structure parameters, slope error of the concentrator, and the alignment error of the receiver are analyzed.

A new dromaeosaurid (Dinosauria: Theropoda) from the Upper Cretaceous Wulansuhai Formation of Inner Mongolia, China
We describe a new dromaeosaurid theropod from the Upper Cretaceous Wulansuhai Formation of Bayan Mandahu, Inner
Mongolia. The new taxon, Linheraptor exquisitus gen. et sp. nov., is based on an exceptionally well-preserved, nearly
complete skeleton. This specimen represents the fifth dromaeosaurid taxon recovered from the Upper Cretaceous
Djadokhta Formation and its laterally equivalent strata, which include the Wulansuhai Formation, and adds to the known
diversity of Late Cretaceous dromaeosaurids. Linheraptor exquisitus closely resembles the recently reported Tsaagan
mangas. Uniquely among dromaeosaurids, the two taxa share a large, anteriorly located maxillary fenestra and a contact
between the jugal and the squamosal that excludes the postorbital from the infratemporal fenestra. These features suggest
a sister-taxon relationship between L. exquisitus and T. mangas, which indicates the presence of a unique dromaeosaurid
lineage in the Late Cretaceous of Asia. A number of cranial and dental features seen in L. exquisitus and T. mangas, and
particularly some postcranial features of L. exquisitus, suggest that these two taxa are probably intermediate in
systematic position between known basal and derived dromaeosaurids. The discovery of Linheraptor exquisitus is thus
important for understanding the evolution of some salient features seen in the derived dromaeosaurids
Carrier and polarization dynamics in monolayer MoS2
In monolayer MoS2 optical transitions across the direct bandgap are governed
by chiral selection rules, allowing optical valley initialization. In time
resolved photoluminescence (PL) experiments we find that both the polarization
and emission dynamics do not change from 4K to 300K within our time resolution.
We measure a high polarization and show that under pulsed excitation the
emission polarization significantly decreases with increasing laser power. We
find a fast exciton emission decay time on the order of 4ps. The absence of a
clear PL polarization decay within our time resolution suggests that the
initially injected polarization dominates the steady state PL polarization. The
observed decrease of the initial polarization with increasing pump photon
energy hints at a possible ultrafast intervalley relaxation beyond the
experimental ps time resolution. By compensating the temperature induced change
in bandgap energy with the excitation laser energy an emission polarization of
40% is recovered at 300K, close to the maximum emission polarization for this
sample at 4K.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures including supplementary materia
