    DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM POTENTIAL IN WATERSPORTS RECREATION, SANTIRAH RIVER, PANGANDARAN REGENCY, INDONESIA

    River is one of a recreational resource potential of watersport in Indonesia. The growing trend of sports tourism in water-based recreation, making some rivers and rapids with unique morphology, being developed by the local community as a tourism destination. Furthermore, comprehensive planning and meticulous study, is the key to develop sustainable sports tourism. This study was conducted as a series of special interest travel planning process-based education that used the river with River Tubing Activity as an attraction. The sample was taken on Santirah River which is currently growing as one of a favorite attraction in West Java, Indonesia. The survey was conducted through observation of the physical condition of the river and the readiness of human resources management. As a result, Santirah river has high potential from the physical aspect, however the readiness still low on aspect of human resources to provide safe and convenient service. The role of governments and professional organizations in the field of sports recreation are essential in providing assistance to the managing authority in this river

    Investigating The Impact of Sensory Experience on Budget Hotel Rooms to Maximize Guests Satisfaction

    This study aims to investigate the sensory experience from guests who have stayed at a budget hotel in Bandung, West Java Province. Although only offers low prices, simple facilities, and less spacious room, yet a budget hotel has been able to maximize comfort and satisfaction for their guests. Subsequently, the number of budget hotels increase significantly in the past few decades and create different themes for hospitality industry. These themes create unique experience and they are felt by five senses of guests during their visits. The experience is divided into visual, tactile, gustatory, auditory, and olfactory. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive analysis from 145 questionnaires which were collected on the field. The results showed that the sensory experience had a dominant impact on guest satisfaction in staying at a budget hotel, especially in tactile and visual

    Re-examining sensory experience on highland nature-based resort rooms

    Tourists are more likely to seek hotel and resort reviews before making a reservation. However, the advertised products are sometimes not in accordance with their actual staying experience. Experience is conceptualized as a combination of senses, influence, and cognition. This research aims to find out the sensory experience by the Resort's guests based on the online reviews as the secondary data. The reviews were gathered from online travel agents, namely Traveloka, Agoda, and TripAdvisor.com. The collected data were analyzed sentence by sentence to discover the sensory experience that has been felt by the guests while staying in the resorts. It can be concluded that the sight experience was related to the superiority of a good view from nature, the serenity as the primary factor for the hearing experience but some rooms in the resorts were not soundproof, and eventually, it had influenced the unpleasant experience to the guests. Furthermore, the un-pleasant touch and smell experience of these resorts were the nuisances from the insects, stiff mattress, and the uncomfortable bathroom. But, the breeze from nature has completed the whole relaxation experience. Hence, this research provides implication on the improvement of guest's experience in the context of five senses in the hospitality and tourism industry

    Tourists Experience on Islamic Architecture and its Influence on Destination Loyalty

    Purpose: This paper investigates tourists' experience from the encounter with Islamic architecture and how it influences the formation of loyalty towards the visited destination, focusing on Islamic architecture in Putrajaya. Methods/Design/approach: This study employed a convenient sampling approach targeting domestic tourists in Malaysia. Self-administered online questionnaires were distributed through social media platforms, including Whatsapp, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The distribution of questionnaires on Facebook was done through social groups, such as 'Kaki Cuti', 'Bercuti di Negara sendiri', 'Jom Melancong'. A total of 265 samples were collected and data were analysed through descriptive analysis and statistical tests. Findings: The findings shows that aesthetic experience, emotional experience, and engaging experience are significant predictors of destination loyalty, with aesthetic experience as the strongest predictor. This means tourists experienced strong visual aesthetic stimulation in engaging with Islamic architecture, which resulted in significant influence on destination loyalty. Tourists also experience a significant level of emotional stimulation due to the special connection of religious bonds. Implication/Limitations: This study focused only on the perspective of domestic tourists due to the current scenario of COVID-19 pandemic. Future research is to look into the perspective of international tourists on Islamic architecture in Malaysia

    Readiness and participation of local community for river-based tourism development in Sabak Awor, Muar, Johor

    The research on river-based tourism in terms of community participation and readiness for river-based tourism development is still limited, especially in the Malaysian context. For instance, this study intends to explore the readiness and participation of the local community for river-based tourism development in Sabak Awor, Muar. A qualitative approach is adopted to this study on the readiness and community participation for river-based tourism development in Sabak Awor village, Muar through the semi-structured interview questions. A total of five residents have participated in the interview. The analyses have yielded into five main findings, namely the low level of knowledge influence localโ€™s readiness, tourism resources presents the creation of tourism activities in the area, low involvement in participation in decision-making process and planning, high involvement of the community in tourism operation and management, and benefits gained in terms of economic, infrastructure of the village, and personal development of the community. This study contributes to the planning and development of river-based tourism activities. The findings are beneficial for the management of the key players in the tourism industry to promote the potential of Sabak Awor village as a new tourism destination, specifically for river-based tourism

    Abstract - The research was conducted in Prawirotaman, Yogyakarta. The power of historical value, Batik Craftsmen and relaxed atmosphere generate the value of the accommodation which was very precious to be a tourist attraction. This study will reveal what affect foreign touristsย  for coming to Prawirotaman recently after rapid hotel development. The objectives of this research is to identify profile and character of foreign tourists from psychography, geography, and demography segmentation as well as tourism trend. Next, to identify the perception of foreign tourists from tourist attraction, accesibility, amenities, price, service quality, advertising, number of visit, length of stay, and expenditure. Last, to identify which factor is the most influencing foreign tourists perception in Prawirotaman. The research methods that have been used are quantitative in multiple regression analysis and qualitative in analysis descriptive.These findings generated the biggest 5 market by nationality such as Netherland, Germany, France, USA and Japan. From the analysis can be concluded that(1) There is an existence of the partial effect between variable of attractiveness with tourist arrivals. This emphasizes that variable of attractions is influencing independently without other variables. Furthermore, it is also indicating that the power of Prawirotaman is an affordable international culinary complex with afforadble price as well as serenity ambience and various types of accommodation. (2) The character of foreign tourists affect the combination of tourism products offered byย  Prawirotaman Tourism Operators (Hotels, Travel Agents, Restaurants). Dengan adanya perkembangan teknologi dan semakin tingginya persaingan perhotelan di Yogyakarta, Lalu bagaimanakah dengan kondisi saat ini? penelitian ini akan mengungkap apa yang mempengaruhi wisatawan mancanegara datang ke kawasan Prawirotaman. Temuan-temuan yang dihasilkan yaitu Wisatawan Mancanegara didominasi 5 besar kewarganegaraan: Belanda, Jerman, Perancis, USA, dan Jepang. Dari hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) Adanya pengaruh secara parsial antara variabel daya tarik terhadap kunjungan wisatawan mancanegara. Hal ini menyatakan bahwa variabel Daya Tarik dapat berpengaruh secara mandiri tanpa variabel lain. Hal ini juga menandakan bahwa kekuatan daya tarik kawasan yang utama adalah keragaman kompleks kuliner internasional dengan harga yang terjangkau disamping suasana dan ketersediaan akomodasi. (2) Karakter wisatawan mancanegara mempengaruhi kombinasi dari produk wisata yang ditawarkan Kawasan Prawirotaman. Perlu diketahui bahwa karakter segmentasi demografis ternyata lebih dominan untuk menentukan pola perjalanan. kesimpulannya, wisatawan mancanegara dibagi berdasarkan usia seperti Youth Travelers (Independent or Couple), Honeymooners, Retirement, and Family with infant or younger children. Berdasarkan data sekunder dan pengamatan, segmentasi Youth Travelers bersifat sangat sensitif terhadap harga dan pengguna internet yang sangat aktif, lalu segmentasi Retirement and Family lebih berorientasi pada kenyamanan fasilitas dan privacy.
