The collection is published using a âlayeredâ approach, aggregating the original information with links and specialised analyses, and forms a valuable resource for those investigating or developing audio analysis tools and workflows
Phase diagram for morphological transitions of wetting films on chemically structured substrates
Using an interface displacement model we calculate the shapes of thin
liquidlike films adsorbed on flat substrates containing a chemical stripe. We
determine the entire phase diagram of morphological phase transitions in these

Geometry dominated fluid adsorption on sculptured substrates
Experimental methods allow the shape and chemical composition of solid
surfaces to be controlled at a mesoscopic level. Exposing such structured
substrates to a gas close to coexistence with its liquid can produce quite
distinct adsorption characteristics compared to that occuring for planar
systems, which may well play an important role in developing technologies such
as super-repellent surfaces or micro-fluidics. Recent studies have concentrated
on adsorption of liquids at rough and heterogeneous substrates and the
characterisation of nanoscopic liquid films. However, the fundamental effect of
geometry has hardly been addressed. Here we show that varying the shape of the
substrate can exert a profound influence on the adsorption isotherms allowing
us to smoothly connect wetting and capillary condensation through a number of
novel and distinct examples of fluid interfacial phenomena. This opens the
possibility of tailoring the adsorption properties of solid substrates by

Universality for 2D Wedge Wetting
We study 2D wedge wetting using a continuum interfacial Hamiltonian model
which is solved by transfer-matrix methods. For arbitrary binding potentials,
we are able to exactly calculate the wedge free-energy and interface height
distribution function and, thus, can completely classify all types of critical
behaviour. We show that critical filling is characterized by strongly universal
fluctuation dominated critical exponents, whilst complete filling is determined
by the geometry rather than fluctuation effects. Related phenomena for
interface depinning from defect lines in the bulk are also considered.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
Spin-Dependent Twist-Four Matrix Elements from g_1 Data in the Resonance Region
Matrix elements of spin-dependent twist-four operators are extracted from
recent data on the spin-dependent g_1 structure function of the proton and
deuteron in the resonance region. We emphasize the need to include the elastic
contributions to the first moments of the structure functions at Q^2 < 2 GeV^2.
The coefficients of the 1/Q^2 corrections to the Ellis-Jaffe sum rules are
found to be 0.04 \pm 0.02 and 0.03 \pm 0.04 GeV^2 for the proton and neutron,

Ethnic In-Group Favoritism Among Minority and Majority Groups: Testing the Self-Esteem Hypothesis Among Preadolescents
The self-esteem hypothesis in intergroup relations, as proposed by social identity
theory (SIT), states that successful intergroup discrimination enhances momentary
collective self-esteem. This hypothesis is a source of continuing controversy. Furthermore,
although SIT is increasingly used to account for childrenâs group attitudes,
few studies have examined the hypothesis among children. In addition, the
hypothesisâs generality makes it important to study among children from different
ethnic groups. The present study, conducted among Dutch and Turkish preadolescents,
examined momentary collective self-feelings as a consequence of ethnic group
evaluations. The results tended to support the self-esteem hypothesis. In-group
favoritism was found to have a self-enhancing effect among participants high in
ethnic identification. This result was found for ethnic majority (Dutch) and minority
(Turkish) participants.

Human factors in robotic assisted surgery: Lessons from studies âin the Wildâ
This article reviews studies conducted "in the wild" that explore the "ironies of automation" in Robotic Assisted Surgery (RAS). Workload may be reduced for the surgeon, but increased for other team members, with postural stress relocated rather than reduced, and the introduction of a range of new challenges, for example, in the need to control multiple arms, with multiple instruments; and the increased demands of being physically separated from the team. Workflow disruptions do not appear to be more frequent, the prevalence of equipment and training disruptions differs from other types of surgeries. A consistent observation is that communication and coordination problems are relatively frequent, suggesting that specific verbal and non-verbal cues may need to be trained. RAS also changes the necessary size of the operating room instrument cleaning processes. These studies demonstrate the value of clinically-based human factors engineers working alongside surgical teams to improve the delivery of RAS
The impact of training and working conditions on junior doctors' intention to leave clinical practice
Background: The shortage of physicians is an evolving problem throughout the world. In this study we aimed to identify to what extent junior doctors' training and working conditions determine their intention to leave clinical practice after residency training. Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted in 557 junior doctors undergoing residency training in German hospitals. Self-reported specialty training conditions, working conditions and intention to leave clinical practice were measured over three time points. Scales covering training conditions were assessed by structured residency training, professional support, and dealing with lack of knowledge; working conditions were evaluated by work overload, job autonomy and social support, based on the Demand-Control-Support model. Multivariate ordinal logistic regression analyses with random intercept for longitudinal data were applied to determine the odds ratio of having a higher level of intention to leave clinical practice. Results: In the models that considered training and working conditions separately to predict intention to leave clinical practice we found significant baseline effects and change effects. After modelling training and working conditions simultaneously, we found evidence that the change effect of job autonomy (OR 0.77, p = .005) was associated with intention to leave clinical practice, whereas for the training conditions, only the baseline effects of structured residency training (OR 0.74, p = .017) and dealing with lack of knowledge (OR 0.74, p = .026) predicted intention to leave clinical practice. Conclusions: Junior doctors undergoing specialty training experience high workload in hospital practice and intense requirements in terms of specialty training. Our study indicates that simultaneously improving working conditions over time and establishing a high standard of specialty training conditions may prevent junior doctors from considering leaving clinical practice after residency training
