    Today’s business environment demands effective project management for enterprises to meet their goals and continue to be innovative. Inherently, this also means that project managers must have strong leadership skills. Project management provides a framework of techniques that provides a symbiotic relationship between both the framework and the leader. The idea behind project management is to complete objectives efficiently within a certain time period given a restricted number of resources. This means project management is a process of principles, tools, and methodologies used to effectively manage a team through the System Development Life Cycle. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is made up of six parts. These include identifying the problem, planning, and monitoring the project, discovering, and understanding the problem, designing system components to solve the problem, build/test/integrate system components, and implementing the solution. There are many methodologies such as XP, SCRUM, or Agile, but we must first understand the importance of project management principles

    Student Choice and Motivation in the Secondary English Classroom

    Motivated students are far more likely to learn, but it can be difficult when students’ interests and inspirations all differ. One of the most effective ways to improve student motivation and attainment in the classroom is by giving students choice in assignments, following self-determination theory (SDT). Originally proposed by psychologists Edward Deci and Richard Ryan (1971)s, SDT suggests that students are more intrinsically motivated when their needs for autonomy, competence and relatedness are met. In this study, I gave students in a 12th grade African American Literature class choice in assignments, and kept track of the behavior of the class in daily field notes. The results should show that when students are doing activities that are more conducive to student choice, they will be more intrinsically motivated to learn

    Effect of Manual Screw Press Utilization on Output, Income, and Standard of Living of Gari Processors in Kwara State, Nigeria

    The study assessed the effect of utilization of manual screw press for gari production on output, income, and standard of living of gari processors in four local government areas across the ADP zones in Kwara state, Nigeria. Using multistage sampling technique and a semi-structured questionnaire as instrument, data for the study were collected from a sample of three hundred and eighty four (384) gari processors who use the screw press in the state. Descriptive statistics namely frequency count, percentages and mean was used for analysis of generated field data. The study revealed a 35.5 percent increase in gari production was achieved with utilization of the screw press for gari production. Also, average annual income from gari processing after utilization went from N809662 to N1249375; 35.19 percent increase. Furthermore, average household properties owned by processors went from 2.31 before utilization to 3.24 after utilization which is an increase of 28.7 percent. The study concluded that utilization of manual screw press by gari producers in Kwara state has lead to increased output, a higher income, and a better standard of living for gari producers. These increases would most probably lead to increase in their probability of escaping poverty, and in the long run would lead to sustainable food security for the country

    Implementation of a Monte Carlo method to model photon conversion for solar cells.

    A physical model describing different photon conversion mechanisms is presented in the context of photovoltaic applications. To solve the resulting system of equations, a Monte Carlo ray-tracing model is implemented, which takes into account the coupling of the photon transport phenomena to the non-linear rate equations describing luminescence. It also separates the generation of rays from the two very different sources of photons involved (the sun and the luminescence centers). The Monte Carlo simulator presented in this paper is proposed as a tool to help in the evaluation of candidate materials for up- and downconversion.
