Competition of spatial and temporal instabilities under time delay near codimension-two Turing-Hopf bifurcations

Competition of spatial and temporal instabilities under time delay near the codimension-two Turing-Hopf bifurcations is studied in a reaction-diffusion equation. The time delay changes remarkably the oscillation frequency, the intrinsic wave vector, and the intensities of both Turing and Hopf modes. The application of appropriate time delay can control the competition between the Turing and Hopf modes. Analysis shows that individual or both feedbacks can realize the control of the transformation between the Turing and Hopf patterns. Two dimensional numerical simulations validate the analytical results.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figure

N=2 Superstrings with (1,2m) Spacetime Signature

We show that the N=2N=2 superstring in d=2D6d=2D\ge6 real dimensions, with criticality achieved by including background charges in the two real time directions, exhibits a ``coordinate-freezing'' phenomenon, whereby the momentum in one of the two time directions is constrained to take a specific value for each physical state. This effectively removes this time direction as a physical coordinate, leaving the theory with (1,d2)(1,d-2) real spacetime signature. Norm calculations for low-lying physical states suggest that the theory is ghost free.Comment: 8 page

New Properties and Applications of Polyvinylidene-Based Ferroelectric Polymer

There are different kinds of novel properties and applications of polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF)-based ferroelectric polymer films. Several issues associated with the structure, properties, and applications of PVDF-based ferroelectric polymer films are discussed. The main achievements of the research include high electric tunability of relaxor ferroelectric Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) terpolymer films, the creep process of the domain switching in poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) ferroelectric thin films, transition from relaxor to ferroelectric-like phase in poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene -chlorofluoroethylene) terpolymer ultrathin films, abnormal polarization switching of relaxor terpolymer films at low temperatures, huge electrocaloric effect in LB ferroelectric polymer thin films, self-polarization in ultrathin LB polymer films, enhanced dielectric and ferroelectric properties in artificial polymer multilayers, and transition of polarization switching from extrinsic to intrinsic in ultrathin PVDF homopolymer films

    A note on W_{2,s} strings

BRST operators for two-dimensional theories with spin-2 and spin-ss currents, generalising the W3W_3 BRST operator of Thierry-Mieg, have previously been obtained. The construction was based on demanding nilpotence of the BRST operators, making no reference to whether or not an underlying WW algebra exists. In this paper, we analyse the known cases (s=3s=3, 4, 5 and 6), showing that the two s=4s=4 BRST operators are associated with the W ⁣B2W\!B_2 algebra, and that two of the four s=6s=6 BRST operators are associated with the W ⁣G2W\!G_2 algebra. We discuss the cohomology of all the known higher-spin BRST operators, the Weyl symmetry of their physical states, and their relation with certain minimal models. We also obtain the BRST operator for the case s=7s=7.Comment: 12 pages, CTP TAMU-8/94, LZU-TH-94/0

Control Optimization of Combined Cooling and Power System with Prime Mover of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell-gas Turbine for Building Application

© 2017 The Authors. This paper presents a control strategy for a combined cooling and power (CCP) system using a prime mover of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) with bottoming cycle of gas turbine (GT) for building application. Dynamic simulation model of the CCP system was developed in TRNSYS 17, and the control strategy was developed for year-round operation in response to the changing climatic and loading conditions. The capacity ratio of cells in operation; the ratio of exhaust heat delivered to GT; and the ratio of cooling load shared between absorption and compression chillers were chosen as the decision variables in the control strategy. In order to minimize the system energy consumption, particle swarm optimization (PSO) was constructed in MATLAB and coupled with TRNSYS 17 for control optimization. It was found that with the proposed control strategy, the yearly energy saving of the SOFC-GT CCP system would be 6.89% compared to the reference case

Anomaly Freedom and Realisations for Super-W3W_3 Strings

We construct new multi-field realisations of the N=2N=2 super-W3W_3 algebra, which are important for building super-W3W_3 string theories. We derive the structure of the ghost vacuum for such theories, and use the result to calculate the intercepts. These results determine the conditions for physical states in the super-W3W_3 string theory.Comment: 22 page

Molecular evidence of the haploid origin in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with Aegilops kotschyi cytoplasm and whole genome expression profiling after haploidization

    Get PDF
Aegiolops kotschyi cytoplasmic male sterile system often results in part of haploid plants in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). To elucidate the origin of haploid, 235 wheat microsatellite (SSR) primers were randomly selected and screened for polymorphism between haploid (2n = 3x = 21 ABD) and its parents, male-sterile line YM21 (2n = 6x = 42 AABBDD) and male fertile restorer YM2 (2n = 6x = 42 AABBDD). About 200 SSR markers yielded clear bands from denatured PAGE, of which 180 markers have identifiable amplification patterns, and 20 markers (around 8%) resulted in different amplification products between the haploid and the restorer, YM2. There were no SSR markers that were found to be distinguishable between the haploid and the male sterile line YM21. In addition, different distribution of HMW-GS between endosperm and seedlings from the same seeds further confirmed that the haploid genomes were inherited from the maternal parent. After haploidization, 1.7% and 0.91% of total sites were up- and down-regulated exceeding twofold in the shoot and the root of haploid, respectively, and most of the differentially expressed loci were up/down-regulated about twofold. Out of the sensitive loci in haploid, 94 loci in the shoot, 72 loci in the root can be classified into three functional subdivisions: biological process, cellular component and molecular function, respectively

Characteristic distributions of finite-time Lyapunov exponents

We study the probability densities of finite-time or \local Lyapunov exponents (LLEs) in low-dimensional chaotic systems. While the multifractal formalism describes how these densities behave in the asymptotic or long-time limit, there are significant finite-size corrections which are coordinate dependent. Depending on the nature of the dynamical state, the distribution of local Lyapunov exponents has a characteristic shape. For intermittent dynamics, and at crises, dynamical correlations lead to distributions with stretched exponential tails, while for fully-developed chaos the probability density has a cusp. Exact results are presented for the logistic map, x4x(1x)x \to 4x(1-x). At intermittency the density is markedly asymmetric, while for `typical' chaos, it is known that the central limit theorem obtains and a Gaussian density results. Local analysis provides information on the variation of predictability on dynamical attractors. These densities, which are used to characterize the {\sl nonuniform} spatial organization on chaotic attractors are robust to noise and can therefore be measured from experimental data.Comment: To be appear in Phys. Get PDF
AbstractWith Beilangzhong eco-village as an example, the effects of the biogas project on the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission and its economic effects are analyzed. The results show that 1833.45t GHG (CO2 equivalent) was reduced, and an income of 1,117,000 Yuan (RMB), a net income of 958,500 Yuan (RMB), was gained by biogas sales, alternative energy, comprehensive utilization of anaerobic fermentation residues and the reduction of GHG emission, so the biogas project can greatly promote the establishment of low-carbon circular economy mode and sustainable development of ecological agriculture in Beilangzhong eco-village
