    Design of Robust Fuzzy Sliding-Mode Controller for a Class of Uncertain Takagi-Sugeno Nonlinear Systems

    This paper presents the fuzzy design of sliding mode control (SMC) for nonlinear systems with uncertainties, which can be represented by a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) model. There exist the parameter uncertainties in both state and input matrices, as well as the matched external disturbance. The key feature of this work is the great ability of the controller to deal with systems without assuming that the control matrices of each local T-S model to be same and knowing the priori information of the upper norm-bounds of uncertainties. A sufficient condition for the existence of the desired fuzzy SMC is obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The reachability of the specified sliding surface is proven. A numerical example is illustrated in order to show the validity of the proposed scheme

    Molecular evidence of the haploid origin in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) with Aegilops kotschyi cytoplasm and whole genome expression profiling after haploidization

    Aegiolops kotschyi cytoplasmic male sterile system often results in part of haploid plants in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). To elucidate the origin of haploid, 235 wheat microsatellite (SSR) primers were randomly selected and screened for polymorphism between haploid (2n = 3x = 21 ABD) and its parents, male-sterile line YM21 (2n = 6x = 42 AABBDD) and male fertile restorer YM2 (2n = 6x = 42 AABBDD). About 200 SSR markers yielded clear bands from denatured PAGE, of which 180 markers have identifiable amplification patterns, and 20 markers (around 8%) resulted in different amplification products between the haploid and the restorer, YM2. There were no SSR markers that were found to be distinguishable between the haploid and the male sterile line YM21. In addition, different distribution of HMW-GS between endosperm and seedlings from the same seeds further confirmed that the haploid genomes were inherited from the maternal parent. After haploidization, 1.7% and 0.91% of total sites were up- and down-regulated exceeding twofold in the shoot and the root of haploid, respectively, and most of the differentially expressed loci were up/down-regulated about twofold. Out of the sensitive loci in haploid, 94 loci in the shoot, 72 loci in the root can be classified into three functional subdivisions: biological process, cellular component and molecular function, respectively

    Bioflocculants Produced by Gram-positive Bacillus xn12 and Streptomyces xn17 for SwineWastewater Application

    Strains xn12 and xn17 were isolated from activated sludge from a local hoggery, and preliminarily identified as Gram-positive Bacillus and Streptomyces, respectively. Their flocculating activities were mainly in the extracellular materials, and their components were mainly non-ketose polysaccharides, not proteins. Their flocculating efficiencies were over 95 % under the optimal conditions for production of xn12 and xn17 as follows: initial pH 5; inoculum volume 0.5 mL, 1.0 mL, respectively; cultivating temperature 30 °C; and cultivation time 4.5 days and 1.5 days, respectively. Each of the xn12 and xn17 had strong thermal stability under 30–80 °C. The optimal removal efficiency of turbidity for xn12 and xn17 in swine wastewater was 82 %, 87 %, respectively, their turbidity removal efficiencies were better than polyaluminium chloride alone, and that of COD was 42 %, 46 %, respectively

    Iron isotope compositions of coexisting sulfide and silicate minerals in Sudbury-type ores from the Jinchuan Ni-Cu- sulfide deposit: A perspective on possible core-mantle iron isotope fractionation

    Many studies have shown that the average iron (Fe) isotope compositions of mantle-derived rocks, mantle peridotite and model mantle are close to those of chondrites. Therefore, it is considered that chondrite values represent the bulk Earth Fe isotope composition. However, this is a brave assumption because nearly 90% Fe of the earth is in the core, whose Fe isotope composition is unknown, but is required to construct bulk earth Fe isotope composition. We approach the problem by assuming that the earth’s core separation can be approximated in terms of the Sudbury-type Ni-Cu sulfide mineralization, where sulfide-saturated mafic magmas segregate into immiscible sulfide liquid and silicate liquid. Their density/buoyancy controlled stratification and solidification produced net-textured ores above massive ores and below disseminated ores. The coexisting sulfide minerals (pyrrhotite (Po) > pentlandite (Pn) > chalcopyrite (Cp)) and silicate minerals (olivine (Ol) > orthopyroxene (Opx) > clinopyroxene (Cpx)) are expected to hold messages on Fe isotope fractionation between the two liquids before their solidification. We studied the net-textured ores of the Sudbury-type Jinchuan Ni-Cu sulfide deposit. The sulfide minerals show varying δ56Fe values (-1.37 ~ -0.74‰ (Po) < 0.09 ~ 0.56‰ (Cp) < 0.53 ~ 1.05‰ (Pn), but silicate minerals (Ol, Opx, Cpx) have δ56Fe values close to chondrites (δ56Fe = -0.01±0.01‰). The heavy δ56Fe value (0.52 ~ 0.60‰) of serpentines may reflect Fe isotopes exchange with the coexisting pyrrhotite with light δ56Fe. We ob- tained an equilibrium fractionation factor of Δ56Fesilicate-sulfide = ~ 0.51‰ between reconstructed silicate liquid (δ56Fe = ~ 0.21‰) and sulfide liquid (δ56Fe = ~ -0.30‰), or Δ56Fesilicate-sulfide = ~ 0.36‰ between the weighted mean bulk-silicate minerals (δ56Fe[0.70ol,0.25opx,0.05cpx] = 0.06‰) with weighted mean bulk- sulfide minerals (δ56Fe = ~ -0.30‰). Our study indicates that significant Fe isotope fractionation does take place between silicate and sulfide liquids during the Sudbury-type sulfide mineralization. We hypothesize that significant iron isotope fractionation must have taken place during core-mantle segregation, and the bulk earth may have lighter Fe isotope composition than chondrites although Fe isotope analysis on experimental sulfide-silicate liquids produced under the varying mantle depth conditions is needed to test our results. We advocate the importance of further research on the subject. Given the close Fe-Ni association in the magmatic mineralization and the majority of Earth’s Ni is also in the core, we infer that Ni isotope fractionation must also have taken place during the core separation that needs attention

    Interface structure, precursor rheology and dielectric properties of BaTiO\u3csub\u3e3\u3c/sub\u3e/PVDF-hfp nanocomposite films prepared from colloidal perovskite nanoparticles

    Nanocomposite materials with uniform microstructure and high permittivity have attracted extensive interest in modern electronics. The compatibility between the filler phase and the polymer matrix is crucial in preparing high-performance composites. As an alternative to conventional surface modification treatment methodologies, hydroxylated colloidal BaTiO3 (BT) nanoparticles synthesized via a green and scalable process were directly used to fabricate high-permittivity nanocomposites. Interfacial interaction analyses between the BT nanoparticles and polymer matrix reveals that due to strong hydrogen bonding at the interface, transparent composite sols with excellent flow behavior can be observed. The sols are ideal formulations for the preparation of BT/PVDF–hfp 0–3 nanocomposite films. Owing to the unique interface structure, the composite films show a dense and uniform microstructure and superior dielectric properties. Parallel plate capacitor devices and the co-development of a sandwich architecture leads to the ability to prepare dielectric films with favorable performance characteristics. This method provides a novel and greatly simplified strategy for the fabrication of high-permittivity dielectric nanocomposites

    Observed photodetachment in parallel electric and magnetic fields

    We investigate photodetachment from negative ions in a homogeneous 1.0-T magnetic field and a parallel electric field of approximately 10 V/cm. A theoretical model for detachment in combined fields is presented. Calculations show that a field of 10 V/cm or more should considerably diminish the Landau structure in the detachment cross section. The ions are produced and stored in a Penning ion trap and illuminated by a single-mode dye laser. We present preliminary results for detachment from S- showing qualitative agreement with the model.     We report on a search for the decays J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c., J/Psi --> D- e+ nu_e + c.c., and J/Psi --> D0bar e+ e- + c.c. in a sample of 5.8 * 10^7 J/Psi events collected with the BESII detector at the BEPC. No excess of signal above background is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions are set: B(J/Psi --> Ds- e+ nu_e + c.c.)<4.8*10^-5, B(J/Psi --> D- e+ nu_e + c.c.)     Direct Measurements of the Branching Fractions for D0Ke+νeD^0 \to K^-e^+\nu_e and D0πe+νeD^0 \to \pi^-e^+\nu_e and Determinations of the Form Factors f+K(0)f_{+}^{K}(0) and f+π(0)f^{\pi}_{+}(0)

    The absolute branching fractions for the decays D0Ke+νeD^0 \to K^-e ^+\nu_e and D0πe+νeD^0 \to \pi^-e^+\nu_e are determined using 7584±198±3417584\pm 198 \pm 341 singly tagged Dˉ0\bar D^0 sample from the data collected around 3.773 GeV with the BES-II detector at the BEPC. In the system recoiling against the singly tagged Dˉ0\bar D^0 meson, 104.0±10.9104.0\pm 10.9 events for D0Ke+νeD^0 \to K^-e ^+\nu_e and 9.0±3.69.0 \pm 3.6 events for D0πe+νeD^0 \to \pi^-e^+\nu_e decays are observed. Those yield the absolute branching fractions to be BF(D0Ke+νe)=(3.82±0.40±0.27)BF(D^0 \to K^-e^+\nu_e)=(3.82 \pm 0.40\pm 0.27)% and BF(D0πe+νe)=(0.33±0.13±0.03)BF(D^0 \to \pi^-e^+\nu_e)=(0.33 \pm 0.13\pm 0.03)%. The vector form factors are determined to be f+K(0)=0.78±0.04±0.03|f^K_+(0)| = 0.78 \pm 0.04 \pm 0.03 and f+π(0)=0.73±0.14±0.06|f^{\pi}_+(0)| = 0.73 \pm 0.14 \pm 0.06. The ratio of the two form factors is measured to be f+π(0)/f+K(0)=0.93±0.19±0.07|f^{\pi}_+(0)/f^K_+(0)|= 0.93 \pm 0.19 \pm 0.07.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
