Can't touch this: the first-person perspective provides privileged access to predictions of sensory action outcomes.
RCUK Open Access funded. ESRC ES/J019178/1Previous studies have shown that viewing others in pain activates cortical somatosensory processing areas and facilitates the detection of tactile targets. It has been suggested that such shared representations have evolved to enable us to better understand the actions and intentions of others. If this is the case, the effects of observing others in pain should be obtained from a range of viewing perspectives. Therefore, the current study examined the behavioral effects of observed grasps of painful and nonpainful objects from both a first- and third-person perspective. In the first-person perspective, a participant was faster to detect a tactile target delivered to their own hand when viewing painful grasping actions, compared with all nonpainful actions. However, this effect was not revealed in the third-person perspective. The combination of action and object information to predict the painful consequences of another person's actions when viewed from the first-person perspective, but not the third-person perspective, argues against a mechanism ostensibly evolved to understand the actions of others
Pairwise interactive knowledge and Nash equilibrium
We provide epistemic conditions for Nash equilibrium, which are considerably weaker than thestandard ones by Aumann and Brandenburger (1995). Indeed, we simultaneously replace commonknowledge of conjectures and mutual knowledge of rationality with strictly weaker epistemicconditions of pairwise common knowledge of conjectures and pairwise mutual knowledge ofrationality respectively. It is also shown that, unlike the Aumann and Brandenburger''s conditions,ours do not imply common knowledge of rationality. WHIZARD 2.2 for Linear Colliders
We review the current status of the WHIZARD event generator. We discuss, in
particular, recent improvements and features that are relevant for simulating

Bosonic versus fermionic pairs of topological spin defects in monolayered high-T_c superconductors
The energy associated with bosonic and fermionic pairs of topological spin
defects in doped antiferromagnetic quantum spin-1/2 square lattice is estimated
within a resonating valence bond scenario, as described by a t-t'-J-like model
Hamiltonian, plus a t-perpendicular, responsible of a three-dimensional
screening of the electrostatic repulsion within the bosonic pairs. For
parameters appropriate for monolayered high-T_c superconductors, both fermionic
and bosonic pairs show x^2-y^2 symmetry. We find a critical value of doping
such that the energy of the bosonic pairs goes below twice the energy of two
fermionic pairs at their Fermi level. This finding could be related to the

Coexistence of Antiferromagnetism and Superconductivity in Electron-doped High-Tc Superconductors
We present magnetotransport evidence for antiferromagnetism in films of the
electron-doped cuprates PrCeCuO. Our results show clear
signature of static antiferromagnetism up to optimal doping x=0.15, with a
quantum phase transition close to x=0.16, and a coexistence of static
antiferromagnetism and superconductivity for 0.12x0.15
QCD NLO with Powheg matching and top threshold matching in WHIZARD
We present the status of the automation of NLO processes within the event
generator WHIZARD. The program provides an automated FKS subtraction and phase
space integration over the FKS regions, while the (QCD) NLO matrix element is
accessed via the Binoth Les Houches Interface from an externally linked
one-loop program. Massless and massive test cases and validation are shown for
several e+e- processes. Furthermore, we discuss work in progress and future
plans. The second part covers the matching of the NRQCD prediction with NLL
threshold resummation to the NLO continuum top pair production at lepton
colliders. Both the S-wave and P-wave production of the top pair are taken into
account in the resummation. The inclusion in WHIZARD allows to study more
exclusive observables than just the total cross section and automatically
accounts for important electroweak and relativistic corrections in the

Growth, globalization, and gains from the Uruguay Round
Emphasizing the importance of evaluating the Uruguay Round in the context of a changing world economy, the authors base their projections on a model that incorporates certain economic shifts: 1) that the center of economic gravity will shift toward the South and toward Asia (a shift that is already under way and shows no signs of abating), and 2) that the pattern of comparative advantage will continue to change, with the East Asian economies gaining comparative advantage in the production of physical and human-capital-intensive products. The authors argue that these changes in the global economy significantly affect their analysis of the Uruguay round reforms, for two reasons. First, with the global distribution of trade and production shifting toward Asia, the deeper Uruguay Round cuts inthat region become more important, giving rise to a 17 percent increase in the proportionate welfare gain after implementation of tariff cuts. Second, without the Round, almost all of the bilateral quotas associated with the Multifibre Arrangement (MFA) would have become more binding and the resulting distortion would have been significantly greater. In this analysis, the global gain from MFA reform is 60 percent greater than it would have been without taking into account the effects of growth. Of course, procedures for implementation of the MFA reforms are more complex than they have conveyed for purposes of analysis. In practice, one must also consider the impact of accel quota growth under the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing. But even when the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing is implemented over the period for which projections were made, quota rents rise for many bilateral flows. This is a consequence both of shifts in comparative advantage toward the supplying countries and of simultaneous cuts in tariffs on textiles and clothing. The projections approach used here may be viewed as a logical extension of the growing econometric literature seeking to explain the determinants of economic growth through regression analysis. Ground State and Resonances in the Standard Model of Non-relativistic QED
We prove existence of a ground state and resonances in the standard model of
the non-relativistic quantum electro-dynamics (QED). To this end we introduce a
new canonical transformation of QED Hamiltonians and use the spectral
