Paradox of Political Tolerance in Croatia
Although victims of aggression, Croats have been labelled as intolerant and aggressor as imperilled. Several independent studies of tolerance have shown a relatively high level of political tolerance in Croatia. Since such results were contrary to the expected, in an American study data pointing to the toleration paradox were interpreted as inconsistent toleration. Also, some incidents that occurred in Croatia pertaining to the toleration paradox were used as indicators of the lack of tolerance

Provedeno je terensko istraživanje na reprezentativnom uzorku punoljetnog stanovniÅ”tva Republike Hrvatske u kojem su ispitanicima postavljena pitanja koja su postavljena u TV referendumima u popularnim emisijama HTV-a i OTV-a. UtvrÄena je statistiÄka znaÄajnost razlika u odgovorima koji su dobiveni od TV gledatelja i ispitanika u terenskom istraživanju Å”to upozorava na nevjerodostojnost rezultata dobivenih u TV referendumima. Nevjerodostojnost rezultata koji se dobivaju u TV referendumima uzrokovana je viÅ”estrukom selektivnoÅ”Äu podataka koju uzrokuje naÄin prikupljanja podataka TV referendumom.A field research has been carried out on a representative sample of the Croatian people of full age in which the respondents were asked the same questions previously posed in the TV polls in some popular programs by HTV and OTV. There is a statistically relevant variance between the responses of the TV viewers and the field research respondents which indicates a lack of credibility of the results obtained through TV polls. This lack of credibility stems from the multiple selectivity of the data resulting from the data-collection method of TV polls
A Contribution to the Understanding of the Citadela Fort in Zadar ā the 2008 Investigations at the Barbakan
U sklopu radova na utvrdi Citadela na jugoistoÄnom dijelu gradskih zidina u Zadru, 2008. godine proveden je arheoloÅ”ki nadzor graÄevinskih radova na prostoru Barbakana. Istraživanja su donijela niz podataka o izgledu tog prostora i promijenila dosadaÅ”nje spoznaje o vremenu i naÄinu njegove gradnje. Manji dio nalaza pripada rimskom vremenu, dok veÄi potjeÄe iz srednjovjekovnoga i novovjekovnog razdoblja. MeÄu sitnim arheoloÅ”kim nalazima prednjaÄi keramika, unutar koje nalazimo i rijetke primjerke glazirane keramike iz 13. i 14. stoljeÄa, koji do sada nisu zabilježeni na zadarskom podruÄju. Osim keramike pronaÄen je i manji broj staklenih nalaza koji uglavnom pripadaju srednjovjekovnom razdoblju.Archaeological supervision of construction works in the zone of the Barbakan (Barbakan) was carried out in 2008 in the frame of the works on the Citadela fort (Citadela) in the southeastern part of the Zadar city walls. The investigations yielded a wealth of new information on the appearance of that space and changed our previous understanding of the time and method of its construction. A smaller number of finds belong to the Roman Age, while the majority comes from the Middle Ages and the Modern Period. Ceramic finds dominate among small archaeological finds, including rare specimens of glazed ware from the 13th and 14th centuries, formerly unregistered in the Zadar area. In addition to ceramic finds, there was also a small number of glass finds, mostly belonging to the mediaeval period
THE INFLUENCE OF CONDUCTIVE PASSIVE PARTS ON THE MAGNETIC FLUX DENSITY PRODUCED BY OVERHEAD POWER LINES
There has been apprehension about the possible adverse health effects resulting from exposure to power frequency magnetic field, especially in the overhead power lines vicinity. Research work on the biological effects of magnetic field has been substantial in recent decades. Various international regulations and safety guidelines, aimed at the protection of human beings, have been issued. Numerous measurements are performed and different numerical algorithms for computation of the magnetic field, based on the Biot-Savart law, are developed. In this paper, a previously developed 3D quasistatic numerical algorithm for computation of the magnetic field (i.e. magnetic flux density) produced by overhead power lines has been improved in such a way that cylindrical segments of passive conductors are also taken into account. These segments of passive conductors form the conductive passive contours, which can be natural or equivalent, and they substitute conductive passive parts of the overhead power lines and towers. Although, their influence on the magnetic flux density distribution and on the total effective values of magnetic flux density is small, it is quantified in a numerical example, based on a theoretical background that was developed and presented in this paper
2D BEM analysis of power cables thermal field
This paper describes a novel 2D BEM numerical model for analyzing buried power cables thermal field. The total number of power cables and homogeneous subdomains inside the cable trench are completely arbitrary. A novelty in this paper is that a part of unbounded external boundary (earth surface) has been modelled using a new type of boundary elements named infinite boundary elements. Besides, the efficiency of the numerical method developed is based on successful application of analytical integration along linear boundary elements and infinite boundary elements. Using double and multiple global node technique, the correct numerical approximation of the normal flux density at the points with its physical discontinuity has been made possible. Illustrative numerical examples with known analytical solutions are solved
Computation of Carson formulas using piecewise approximation of kernel function
Novel approach for the high-accurate computation of Carson formulas is presented. Carson formulas are used for computation of per-unit length (pul) self and mutual impedances of infinitely long parallel conductors. Numerical algorithm described in this paper uses a piecewise approximation of the kernel function which appears in the Carson formula corrections. Approximated kernel function is multiplied by the rest of the integrands in the impedance correction expressions and analytically integrated. By using the proposed algorithm, highaccurate results with the desired computed n-digit accuracy can easily be obtained. Results computed by the proposed algorithm are compared with the two most commonly used approximation methods for large frequency range
COMPUTATION OF PER-UNIT-LENGTH INTERNAL IMPEDANCE OF A MULTILAYER CYLINDRICAL CONDUCTOR WITH POSSIBLE DIELECTRIC LAYERS
In this manuscript, a novel method for computation of per-unit-length internal impedance of a cylindrical multilayer conductor with conductive and dielectric layers is presented in detail. In addition to this, formulas for computation of electric and magnetic field distribution throughout the entire multilayer conductor (including dielectric layers) have been derived. The presented formulas for electric and magnetic field in conductive layers have been directly derived from Maxwell equations using modified Bessel functions. However, electric and magnetic field in dielectric layers has been computed indirectly from the electric and magnetic fields in contiguous conductive layers which reduces the total number of unknowns in the system of equations. Displacement currents have been disregarded in both conductive and dielectric layers. This is justifiable if the conductive layers are good conductors. The validity of introducing these approximations is tested in the paper versus a model that takes into account displacement currents in all types of layers
Relationship between the digit ratio (2D:4D) and jealousy in men and women
Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je ispitati povezanost izmeÄu 2D:4D omjera i ljubomore kod
muŔkaraca i žena. 2D:4D omjer odnosi se na omjer dužine kažiprsta (2D) i prstenjaka
(4D), te se smatra kako ova fenotipska karakteristika predstavlja odnos izmeÄu prenatalne
izloženosti androgenima i spolno dimorfnih ponaŔanja. Jedna od spolno dimorfnih reakcija
jest ljubomora koja se može definirati kao pobuÄeno stanje izazvano percipiranom
prijetnjom Äiji je cilj zaÅ”tita, održavanje i produljivanje veze s partnerom, te otklanjanje
prijetnje. Naime, istraživanja su pokazala kako muŔkarci iskazuju viŔe seksualne, a žene
viÅ”e emocionalne ljubomore, Å”to Äini ovaj konstrukt potencijalnim korelatom 2D:4D
omjera. Poznavanjem veze izmeÄu 2D:4D omjera i ljubomore mogu se pobliže upoznati
bioloÅ”ki mehanizmi u osnovi meÄuspolnih i unutarspolnih razlika u ljubomori.
U ovom su istraživanju sudjelovali studenti SveuÄiliÅ”ta u Zadru (N=100) u dobi od 18 do
28 godina. OpÄi podatci prikupljeni su upitnikom sastavljenim u svrhu ovog istraživanja.
Mjerenje 2D:4D omjera obavljalo se digitalnom pomiÄnom mjerkom, a ispitivanje
ljubomore izvrŔeno je scenarijima seksualne i emocionalne nevjere.
Dobiveni rezultati su pokazali kako je 2D:4D omjer lijeve ruke znaÄajno niži kod
muÅ”karaca, dok za 2D:4D omjer desne ruke ne postoji razlika izmeÄu muÅ”karaca i žena.
Nadalje, ne postoji razlika u seksualnoj ljubomori izmeÄu muÅ”karaca i žena. MeÄutim,
žene su znaÄajno viÅ”e emocionalno ljubomorne nego muÅ”karci. Å to se tiÄe razlika u
iskazanoj seksualnoj i emocionalnoj ljubomori unutar spolova, nije pronaÄena znaÄajna
razlika.
Naposljetku, u ovom istraživanju nisu utvrÄene povezanosti 2D:4D omjera i ljubomore kod
muŔkaraca i žena.The goal of this research was to examine the relationship between 2D:4D ratio and
jealousy in men and women. 2D:4D ratio represents the ratio of index finger length and
ring finger length. It is believed that this phenotypical characteristic represents prenatal
androgen exposure and correlates with sexually dimorphic behaviours. One of sexually
dimorphic reactions is jealousy which can be defined as arousal, caused by a perceived
threat, that serves for protection, maintenance and extension of one's relationship with a
partner, as well as countering the threat. Research has shown that men experience more
sexual jealousy and women experience more emotional jealousy, which makes this
construct a potential correlate of 2D:4D. Knowing the relationship between 2D:4D and
jealousy can be helpful in understanding biological mechanisms that are at the core of
between-sex and within-sex differences in jealousy.
Students from University of Zadar (N=100), aged 18 to 28, took part in this study. General
information was collected with a questionnaire made specifically for this study. The digit
ratio was measured with a digital caliper, and jealousy was tested with scenarios of sexual
and emotional jealousy.
Results show that the 2D:4D ratio of men's left hand is significantly lower than the 2D:4D
ratio of left hands in women. Furthermore, there is no sex difference in the 2D:4D ratio of
participants' right hand. No differences were found between sexual jealousy between sexes.
However, the results show that women are more emotionally jealous than man. There was
no significant difference between sexual and emotional jealousy within sexes.
Lastly, the relationships between 2D:4D digit ratio and jealousy in men and women were
not significant in this study

Poslovni rezultat poduzeÄa pomorskoga prometa od posebne je važnosti za menadžment, vlasnike, kreditore, poslovne partnere te državne organe. Iskazuje se u financijskim izvjeÅ”tajima na temelju obraÄuna poslovanja. Za proces upravljanja poduzeÄem pomorskoga prometa vrlo je važna pouzdana informacijska podloga koja se osigurava kvalitetnim voÄenjem i evidentiranjem poslovnih promjena. Na temelju uredno evidentiranih poslovnih promjena sastavlja se obraÄun poslovanja za proteklo razdoblje. Rezultati poslovanja iskazuju se u obliku financijskih izvjeÅ”taja. Financijski izvjeÅ”taji su nositelji informacija od kojih su najznaÄajniji bilanca i raÄun dobiti i gubitka.
Bilanca je sustavni pregled imovine, kapitala i obveza na odreÄeni dan. RaÄun dobiti i gubitka za razliku od bilance prikazuje aktivnost poduzeÄa pomorskoga prometa za odreÄeno razdoblje, a njegovi temeljni elementi su prihodi, rashodi i rezultat poslovanja.
U funkciji opstanka, rasta i razvoja poduzeÄa pomorskoga prometa u promjenjivom okružju poslovni rezultat je kao financijski pokazatelj uspjeÅ”nosti i stabilnosti poslovanja od vitalnog znaÄenja. Vlasnici poduzeÄa, menadžment, zaposlenici, banke i drugi vjerovnici, država te jedinice lokalne samouprave kroz financijske izvjeÅ”taje dobivaju saznanje o imovini, obvezama, kapitalu, rashodima i prihodima te dobiti ili gubitku poduzeÄa.The financial result of a maritime transport company is very important for the management, owners and stockholders, creditors, business partners and government authorities. It is presented in financial reports based on audit business. For the management of a maritime transport company, it is very important to get reliable information basis obtained by a quality leadership and by recording business changes. Based on the correctly recorded business changes, an audit business is presented for the past period of time. The business results are presented in the form of financial reports. The financial reports are bearers of information of which the balance and the profit and loss account are the most significant ones.
The balance is a systematic overview of the assets, capital and liabilities on a certain day. The profit and loss account shows the activity of a maritime transport company for a certain period of time and is different from the balance, the fundamental elements being incomes, expenditures and business results.
Functioning as the element of survival, growth and development of a maritime transport company in this unstable environment, the financial result, as a parameter of the business stability and success, is of utmost importance. Owners and stockholders, management, employees, banks and other creditors, the state and the units of local self-government are becoming aware of the asset, duties, capital, expenditures and incomes and profit or loss of the company through financial reports
