    Phenomenology of GeV-scale scalar portal

    Get PDF
We review and revise the phenomenology of the scalar portal -- a new scalar particle with the mass in GeV range that mixes with the Higgs boson. In particular, we consider production channels BSK1(1270)B\to S K_1(1270) and BSK0(700)B\to S K_0^*(700) and show that their contribution is significant. We extend the previous analysis by comparing the production of scalars from decays of mesons, of the Higgs bosons and direct production via proton bremsstrahlung, deep inelastic scattering and coherent scattering on nuclei. Relative efficiency of the production channels depends on the energy of the beam and we consider the energies of DUNE, SHiP and LHC-based experiments. We present our results in the form directly suitable for calculations of experimental sensitivities.Comment: Journal versio

An approach to a classification of groups generated by 3-state automata over a 2-letter alphabet and the current progress in this direction are presented. Several results related to the whole class are formulated. In particular, all finite, abelian, and free groups are classified. In addition, we provide detailed information and complete proofs for several groups from the class, with the intention of showing the main methods and techniques used in the classification.Comment: 37 pages, 52 figure

Tuberous Sclerosis: A Case of Delayed Retrospective Diagnosis

    Get PDF
Tuberous sclerosis is a rare genetic disorder, often diagnosed based on clinical manifestations. We report a case of a 39-year-old woman retrospectively diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis after giving birth to a child with cardiac rhabdomyomas. This case highlights the awareness of clinical manifestations of orphan diseases among physicians and the need for a broader approach to managing patients, extending beyond the limited perspective of medical professionals specializing in a particular area of health and facilitated through multidisciplinary consultations, highlighting the significance of educational initiatives among specialists and the general population for early detection and implementation of corrective measures in rare genetic disorders

Investigation of the Cinnamon Influence on the Wheat Bread Quality Enriched with Flax Seeds Oil Meal

The materials of the article are studies that are conducted with the aim of expanding the use of non-traditional raw materials for functional purposes in the technology of bakery products. Research is conducted to determine the effect of spiciness cinnamon on the quality of semi-finished products and finished bakery products from wheat flour enriched with flax seeds oil meal.To improve the quality of wheat bread, enriched with flax seeds oil meal, and expand the assortment of bakery products with health properties, the authors propose to use spice cinnamon in the formula of wheat bread in an amount of up to 2 % of the weight of flour. The taste and aroma of these products is characteristic of wheat bread with a pleasant cinnamon flavor. Dosage of cinnamon to 4 % of the flour mass also provides good consumer characteristics of products, however, more pronounced flavor and flavor of cinnamon can limit the circle of consumers of such products. The use of 6 % of cinnamon in the recipe of products leads to a significant deterioration in the volume of products and provides them with too intense flavor. Determination of the content of bisulphite-binding substances in the crumb and crust of products is confirmed by improvements in the fragrance of products with the addition of cinnamon. It has been established that the cinnamon in dough leads to an increase in the elastic properties of gluten, and the more, the more it is added. Along with this, it is noted that cinnamon leads to a decrease in the fermentation intensity of the dough. This is probably due to the active antibacterial properties of cinnamon, which suppress the yeast fermentation activity. These factors and cause the deterioration of the volume of finished products in the case of dosing cinnamon in an amount of 4 % or more.It has been proved that on the indicators of crumbling and deformation of the crumb, products with added cinnamon retain their freshness similarly to the control one. However, it is noted that the introduction of cinnamon reduces the amount of mold of microflora in products

Production of Chern-Simons bosons in decays of mesons

We consider the effective interaction of quarks with a new GeV-scale vector particle that couples to electroweak gauge bosons by the so-called effective Chern-Simons interaction. We call this particle the Chern-Simons (CS) boson. We construct an effective Lagrangian of the CS boson interaction with quarks of two different flavors. This interaction is given by a divergent loop diagram, however, it turns out that the divergent part is equal to zero as a consequence of the CKM matrix unitarity in the SM. Therefore, we are able to predict the effective interaction of the CS boson with quarks of different flavors without introducing new unknown parameters to the model, using only parameters of the initial effective Lagrangian. Our result shows that the effective interaction of the CS boson with down-type quarks is sufficiently stronger compared with up-type quarks. Based on our results, we give a prediction for the production of CS bosons in mesons decays. Branching fractions were obtained for the main reactions of the CS production in meson decays. The results obtained will be useful for searching for the long-lived GeV-scale CS boson in intensity frontier experiments.Comment: 35 pages, 4 figure

Overcoming Post-truth Challenges: Is journalism education successful in Ukraine?

    Get PDF
The article discusses the response efficiency of the journalism education system to the post-truth challenges. The aim of our research is to find out whether the higher education system of Ukraine is able to provide the media system with quality professional staff ready for political participation, responsibility and upholding democratic values in the conditions of post-truth and aggressive external information influence. The experiment covered three groups: journalism students with general professional training, journalism students, who additionally participated in fact-checking trainings and economics students, who did not study the basics of media literacy. The survey results and focus group discussion proved that the future journalists show greater confidence in their skills, but, in fact, they are not able to distinguish better truth, manipulation and lies than the future economists All three groups had vague ideas about these concepts and tend to trust statements that seem familiar and simple. Fact-checking trainings do not give students an advantage in identifying truth and lies in public statements. The results suggest an urgent need to find new system solutions on the part of higher education, the community of professionals to train future journalists ready to work in the post-truth conditions
