A Mathematical Model for Micropolar Fluid Flow Through an Artery with the effect of Stenosis and Post Stenotic Dilatation

    Get PDF
The effects of both stenosis and post stenotic dilatation have been studied on steady flow of micropolar fluid through an artery. Assuming the stenosis to be mild, the equations governing the flow of the proposed model are solved. Closed form expressions for the flow characteristics such as velocity, pressure drop, and volumetric flow rate, resistance to the flow and wall shear stress are derived. The effects of various parameters on resistance to the flow and wall shear stress have been analyzed through the graphs. It is found that the resistance to the flow increases with the height and length of the stenosis, but the resistance to the flow decreases with stenotic dilatation. With the increase of the coupling number the resistance to the flow increases. However, the effect of coupling number is not very significant. The resistance to the flow decreases with the micropolar fluid parameter. The wall shear stress increases with coupling number and stenosis height, but it decreases with micropolar fluid parameter and stenotic dilatation

Introduction: Cycas circinalis .L and Ionidium suffruticosum. Ging are the two herbs used in Siddha system of medicine (Indian Medicine) for years together to improve the fertility of male. Objective: The aphrodisiac activities of the two herbs Cycas circinalis .L and Ionidium suffruticosum. Ging were tested on male albino rats and compared the effect with normal and positive control male albino rats. Materials and Methods: The present study involves 4 groups, each group has 6 healthy sexually active male albino rats. The Cycas circinalis and Ionidium suffruticosum extract (200mg/kg body weight) were administered orally to 2 experimental group of albino rats and its sexual performance was compared to the normal albino rats (given normal saline) and positive control albino rats (given Sildenafil citrate 4.5mg/kg body weight). The aphrodisiac activities of rats due to the effect of the herb were observed by various parameters such as mount frequency, mount latency, intromission frequency, intromission latency, ejaculation latency, post ejaculatory Interval and total sexual behavior. The data's were analyzed using one way ANOVA and found to be statistically significant. Results: The herbs showed significant positive results in improving various parameters involved in maintaining maleness. The study proves that Cycas circinalis and Ionidium suffruticosum both have aphrodisiac activity and Ionidium suffruticosum was proved to be more effective and almost has the similar effect of Sildenafil citrate. Conclusion The herbal extracts possessing aphrodisiac activity will be of great use for males suffering from sexual disorders like impotence. Electromagnetic characterization of microwave sintered Sr1-xCaxMnO3 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.4) thick films

    Get PDF
Electromagnetic characteristics of microwave sintered strontium calcium manganites thick film with variation in calcium content have been investigated. The X-ray diffraction analysis reveals tetragonal perovskite structure for all the compositions. The grain size increases with the increase in calcium content. The microwave absorption, complex permittivity, permeability and conductivity are reported in the frequency range of 8.2–18 GHz. The absorption loss is larger in Ku band while insertion loss is larger in X band. The permittivity, permeability and microwave conductivity decreases from X-band to Ku-band. The almost identical values of real part of permittivity and permeability indicate possible application as materials for impedance matching

Fatty acid composition of serum and tissue lipids in male Indian desert gerbils (Meriones hurrianae; Jerdon) and Wistar rats

Serum lipids and fatty acid composition of total lipids, phospholipids and cholesterol ester fractions of serum, liver, heart and testes of male Indian desert gerbils (Marianas hurrianae; Jerdon) were analysed and compared with Wistar rats.Triglycerides in serum and liver were similar in gerbils and rats, Significant differences in the distribution of polyunsaturated fatty acids in different lipid fractions were observed between gerbils and rats. Total lipids, phospholipids and cholesterol  ester fractions in rats contained higher levels of arachidonic acid than in gerbils

Fast Local Binary Patterns for Efficient Face Recognition

LBP, Local Binary Patterns, is an accepted technique for efficient face recognition. The local features improve the recognition process. However, high memory and computational resources are needed for LBP required approaches to improve the performance. Many people used LBP for extracting features and Support Vector Machine (SVM), histogram matching, neural networks as recognition tools. These approaches consume considerable computational resources. We have proposed a fast LBP which uses Two-level Correlation for the classification & recognition. The exhaustive experiments on FERET database 8750 images substantiate the performance compared to others. [Keywords— Face Recognition, LBP, Histogram Matching, Two-level Correlation, FERET data set

    Quality nutrition through pigeonpea—a review

    Get PDF
Protein mal-nutrition is widespread among poor of developing and under developed countries. Since animal protein is beyond the reach of this group, their primary protein supply comes from plant based products. Amongst these, pigeon-pea or red gram (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millspaugh) is an important food legume that can be grown under rainfed conditions with least inputs. Pi-geonpea is rich in starch, protein, calcium, man- ganese, crude fiber, fat, trace elements, and mi- nerals. Besides its high nutritional value, pi-geonpea is also used as traditional folk medi-cine in India, China, Philippines and some other nations. Literature on this aspect show that pi-geonpea is capable to prevent and cure a num-ber of human ailments such as bronchitis, cou- ghs, pneumonia, respiratory infections, dysen-tery, menstrual disorders, sores, wounds, ab-dominal tumors, tooth ache, and diabetes

Stability indicating RP-HPLC method development and validation for the simultaneous estimation of Grazoprevir and Elbasvir in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form

A simple, Accurate and precise method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of the Grazoprevir and Elbasvir in Tablet dosage form. Chromatogram was run through Kromosil C18 (250 x 4.6 mm), 5m. Mobile phase containing Buffer: Acetonitrile taken in the ratio 45:55 was pumped through column at a flow rate of 1 ml/min. Buffer used in this method was Di Potassium Hydrogen ortho Phosphate. Temperature was maintained at 30°C. Optimized wavelength selected was 215 nm. Retention time of Elbasvir and Grazoprevir and were found to be 2.503 min and 3.004. %RSD of the Elbasvir and Grazoprevir were and found to be 0.3 and 0.4 respectively. %Recovery was obtained as 98.17% and 99.83% for Grazoprevir and Elbasvir respectively. LOD, LOQ values obtained from regression equations of Grazoprevir and Elbasvir were 0.24, 0.73 and 0.06, 0.19 respectively. Retention times were decreased and run time was decreased, so the method developed was simple and economical that can be adopted in regular Quality control test in Industries
