    Towards Automatic Learning of Heuristics for Mechanical Transformations of Procedural Code

    The current trend in next-generation exascale systems goes towards integrating a wide range of specialized (co-)processors into traditional supercomputers. However, the integration of different specialized devices increases the degree of heterogeneity and the complexity in programming such type of systems. Due to the efficiency of heterogeneous systems in terms of Watt and FLOPS per surface unit, opening the access of heterogeneous platforms to a wider range of users is an important problem to be tackled. In order to bridge the gap between heterogeneous systems and programmers, in this paper we propose a machine learning-based approach to learn heuristics for defining transformation strategies of a program transformation system. Our approach proposes a novel combination of reinforcement learning and classification methods to efficiently tackle the problems inherent to this type of systems. Concretamente la infraestructura SAML2 a la que se hace referencia consiste en la instalación de la aplicación SimpleSAMLphp con el consiguiente despliegue de un Proveedor de Servicios y un Proveedor de Identidad.Aquest Projecte Final del Màster Oficial de Programari Lliure, Mòdul d'autenticació SAML2 per DokuWiki, consisteix en el desenvolupament d'un mòdul que permet integrar l'aplicació web DokuWiki amb una infraestructura d'autenticació i autorització basada en SAML2 (un sistema Single Sign-On).     Towards an overall simulator for a synchronous wind energy system

    The amount of electrical energy obtained from renewable sources, specially wind energy, is rising quickly. The interface of this distributed generation with the electrical network will have soon an important influence on control, power quality and voltage stability issues of the whole energy net. In order to be prepared to that change it is necessary to simulate, with a sensible accuracy, the transient events, which happen during normal operation or during faults, and have influence in either net or inner variables. So in this way, it is important to model a wind energy system, taking into account every subsystem that have a significant influence over the transient behavior of the compound system. Some important and recent papers are oriented to analyze the stability [1] and the power quality of the wind systems [2]. In the first one, a doubly fed generator is analyzed from an electrical stability point of view; and in the second one the RMS values of the main electrical variables have been simulated in an overall wind energy system. An interesting paper describing the transient problems in relation with the grid integration of wind turbines can be seen in [3]. In this paper, as a preliminary design of an overall simulator, a variable speed system with a wound rotor synchronous generator is analyzed and a connection of the windmill with a variable wind is simulated.The authors are thankful to the support from the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterraneo (BECA-CAM predoctoral 2003, a grant conceded to the first author).     Photochemical cross-linking study of polymers containing diacetylene groups in their main chain and azobenzene compounds as pendant groups

    Photochemical cross-linking studies at different temperatures (room temperature, Tg and maximum exothermal of crosslinking peak) are shown for three series of polymers containing diacetylene-groups in the main chain and polar chromophores derived from benzene, azo- and di-azobenzene, as pendant groups. We establish the optimal irradiation time and temperature that permit them being poled and cross-linked with minimal dye-degradation. The degradation process was followed by a diminution of the respective maximum absorption peak. These conditions could extend the mean life-time of the second order nonlinear optical properties, studied previously. Photochemical cross-linking at each polymer´s Tg (50-130°C) was the most convenient process. It took less than 10 min and was monitored by IR spectroscop
