Nichols algebras over groups with finite root system of rank two II

    Get PDF
We classify all non-abelian groups G for which there exists a pair (V,W) of absolutely simple Yetter–Drinfeld modules over G such that the Nichols algebra of the direct sum of V and W is finite-dimensional, under two assumptions: the square of the braiding between V and W is not the identity, and G is generated by the support of V and W. As a corollary, we prove that the dimensions of such V and W are at most six. As a tool we use the Weyl groupoid of (V,W).Fil: Heckenberger, István. PBW deformations of a Fomin–Kirillov Algebra and other examples

    Get PDF
We begin the study of PBW deformations of graded algebras relevant to the theory of Hopf algebras. One of our examples is the Fomin–Kirillov algebra E3. Another one appeared in a paper of García Iglesias and Vay. As a consequence of our methods, we determine when the deformations are semisimple and we are able to produce PBW bases and polynomial identities for these deformations.Fil: Heckenberger, I.. We prove that a finite non-degenerate involutive set-theoretic solution (X, r) of the Yang{Baxter equation is a multipermutation solution if and only if its structure group G(X, r) admits a left ordering or equivalently it is poly-Z.Fil: Bachiller, David. Retractability of solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation and p-nilpotency of skew braces

    Get PDF
Using Bieberbach groups, we study multipermutation involutive solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation. We use a linear representation of the structure group of an involutive solution to study the unique product property in such groups. An algorithm to find subgroups of a Bieberbach group isomorphic to the Promislow subgroup is introduced and then used in the case of structure group of involutive solutions. To extend the results related to retractability to non-involutive solutions, following the ideas of Meng, Ballester-Bolinches and Romero, we develop the theory of right p-nilpotent skew braces. The theory of left p-nilpotent skew braces is also developed and used to give a short proof of a theorem of Smoktunowicz in the context of skew braces.Fil: Acri, Emiliano Francisco. Yang–Baxter operators in symmetric categories

    Get PDF
We introduce non-degenerate solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation in the setting of symmetric monoidal categories. Our theory includes non-degenerate set-theoretical solutions as basic examples. However, infinite families of non-degenerate solutions (that are not of set-theoretical type) appear. As in the classical theory of Etingof, Schedler, and Soloviev, non-degenerate solutions are classified in terms of invertible 1-cocycles. Braces and matched pairs of cocommutative Hopf algebras (or braiding operators) are also generalized to the context of symmetric monoidal categories and turn out to be equivalent to invertible 1-cocycles.Fil: Guccione, Jorge Alberto. Factorizations of skew braces

    Get PDF
We introduce strong left ideals of skew braces and prove that they produce non-trivial decomposition of set-theoretic solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation. We study factorization of skew left braces through strong left ideals and we prove analogs of Itô’s theorem in the context of skew left braces. As a corollary, we obtain applications to the retractability problem of involutive non-degenerate solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation. Finally, we classify skew braces that contain no non-trivial proper characteristic ideals.Fil: Jespers, E.. Vrije Unviversiteit Brussel; BélgicaFil: Kubat, L.. Extensions of set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation and a conjecture of Gateva-Ivanova

We develop a theory of extensions for involutive and nondegenerate solutions of the set-theoretic Yang-Baxter equation and use it to produce new families of solutions. As an application we construct an infinite family of counterexamples to a conjecture of Gateva-Ivanova related to the retractability of square-free solutions.Fil: Vendramin, Claudio Leandro. Doubly transitive groups and cyclic quandles

We prove that for n > 2 there exists a quandle of cyclic type of size n if and only if n is a power of a prime number. This establishes a conjecture of S. Kamada, H. Tamaru and K. Wada. As a corollary, every finite quandle of cyclic type is an Alexander quandle. We also prove that finite doubly transitive quandles are of cyclic type. This establishes a conjecture of H. Tamaru.Fil: Vendramin, Claudio Leandro. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Oficina de Coordinación Administrativa Ciudad Universitaria. Skew braces and the Yang-Baxter equation

    Get PDF
Braces were introduced by Rump to study non-degenerate involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. We generalize Rump's braces to the non-commutative setting and use this new structure to study not necessarily involutive non-degenerate set-theoretical solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. Based on results of Bachiller and Catino and Rizzo, we develop an algorithm to enumerate and construct classical and non-classical braces of small size up to isomorphism. This algorithm is used to produce a database of braces of small size. The paper contains several open problems, questions and conjectures.Fil: Guarnieri, Leandro. Universidad de Buenos Aires. Homology of left non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions to the Yang–Baxter equation

    No full text
This paper deals with left non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions to the Yang–Baxter equation (= LND solutions), a vast class of algebraic structures encompassing groups, racks, and cycle sets. To each such solution there is associated a shelf (i.e., a self-distributive structure) which captures its major properties. We consider two (co)homology theories for LND solutions, one of which was previously known, in a reduced form, for biracks only. An explicit isomorphism between these theories is described. For groups and racks we recover their classical (co)homology, whereas for cycle sets we get new constructions. For a certain type of LND solutions, including quandles and non-degenerate cycle sets, the (co)homologies split into the degenerate and the normalized parts. We express 2-cocycles of our theories in terms of group cohomology, and, in the case of cycle sets, establish connexions with extensions. This leads to a construction of cycle sets with interesting properties.Fil: Lebed, Victoria. Trinity College Dublin; IrlandaFil: Vendramin, Claudio Leandro.
