    Invisible and stigmatized: A systematic review of mental health and risk factors among sex workers

    Introduction: Sex work is a common phenomenon, but socially invisible and stigmatized. Due to exposure to work-related risks, sex workers (SWs) are vulnerable to developing health problems. However, little attention has been paid to their mental health. The purpose of this systematic review was to synthesize the existing literature on mental health and to explore risk factors related to psychopathology in sex workers. Methods: A systematic review (CRD42021268990) was conducted on the Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and PsycInfo for peer reviewer papers published between 2010 and 2022. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) was used to examine the quality of the studies. Of the 527 studies identified, 30 met the inclusion criteria. Results: Mental health problems were prevalent among sex workers. Depression was the most common mental health problem; however, other psychological problems were also high, including anxiety, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation. Sex workers are exposed to numerous work-related risks, including violence and high-risk sexual behaviors. Despite the high prevalence of mental health problems, SWs often encounter significant barriers to accessing healthcare services. Conclusion: These results suggest the need to focus on preventive measures to promote psychological well-being among sex workers

    A pulsatile mass in the posterior triangle of the neck may induce concern when it grows and starts to bother. We present the case of a young woman who consulted for this reason, in whom a verticalized subclavian artery was identified due to coexistence with cervical rib. Being, for the moment, asymptomatic, it only required a preventive attitude, in addition to an evolutionary follow-up for the possibility of the development of a compressive condition due to thoracic gorge syndrome and/or an arterial aneurysm.Una masa pulsátil en el triángulo posterior del cuello puede inducir preocupación cuando crece y comienza a molestar.     The Adaptive Optics Lucky Imager, AOLI, is an instrument developed to deliver the highest spatial resolution ever obtained in the visible, 20 mas, from ground-based telescopes. In AOLI a new philosophy of instrumental prototyping has been applied, based on the modularization of the subsystems.     Graphene materials with different structures prepared from the same graphite by the Hummers and Brodie methods

    [EN] Graphene materials containing different functional groups were prepared from a natural graphite, by means of two different oxidation methods (Hummers and Brodie). It was observed that the differences in the structure of the resultant graphite oxides (GOs) greatly affect the structure of the graphenes resulting from their thermal exfoliation/reduction. Although the oxidation of the graphite was more effective with the modified Hummers method than with Brodie’s method (C/O of 1.8 vs 2.9, as determined by XPS), the former generated a lower residual oxygen content after thermal exfoliation/reduction and a better reconstruction of the 2D graphene structure (with fewer defects). This is explained by the presence of conjugated epoxy and hydroxyl groups in the GO obtained by Brodie’s method, which upon thermal treatment, lead to the incorporation of oxygen into the carbon lattice preventing its complete restoration. Additionally, graphene materials obtained with Brodie’s method exhibit, in general, smaller sheet size and larger surface area.The authors thank MICINN and European Union (CONSOLIDER INGENIO 2010, Ref.     Improving the analytical assessment of fish stocks by providing parameters of data quality via InterCatch

    The last multiannual Community program for the collection, management and use of data in the fisheries sector (Commission Decision 2008/949/EC) stated the provision of precision levels and sampling intensities of the estimates at national level. However, the unequal compliance of this standard has hindered its application in stock assessment and the consequent scientific advice. The cost-benefit analysis of a sampling program, besides addressing logistical and economic constraints, should deepen the potential of the tools currently available. This article proposes to test the calculation, provision and use in stock assessment of extensively collected precision parameters. First, sampling intensities and coefficients of variation of fisheries-dependent parameters are calculated using the COST software, a statistical tool specifically designed to quantify uncertainty in marine sampled data. Secondly, alternative ways are explored to provide precision parameters to the stock assessment coordinators by using InterCatch, the existing ICES web-based system to submit national data and compile international catch matrices. Finally, the incorporation of these precision parameters in the assessment model is tested, through a stock assessed by statistical assessment models (such as SS3) which can account for sampling errors. Thus, it will be possible to quantify how errors in input data propagate through stock assessment models to affect harvest rules, and also to help identify the most cost-effective data collections that adequately support the advisory process

    High spatial resolution optical imaging of the multiple T Tauri system LkH{\alpha} 262/LkH{\alpha} 263

    We report high spatial resolution i' band imaging of the multiple T Tauri system LkHα\alpha 262/LkHα\alpha 263 obtained during the first commissioning period of the Adaptive Optics Lucky Imager (AOLI) at the 4.2 m William Herschel Telescope, using its Lucky Imaging mode. AOLI images have provided photometry for each of the two components LkHα\alpha 263 A and B (0.41 arcsec separation) and marginal evidence for an unresolved binary or a disc in LkHα\alpha 262. The AOLI data combined with previously available and newly obtained optical and infrared imaging show that the three components of LkHα\alpha 263 are co-moving, that there is orbital motion in the AB pair, and, remarkably, that LkHα\alpha 262-263 is a common proper motion system with less than 1 mas/yr relative motion. We argue that this is a likely five-component gravitationally bounded system. According to BT-settl models the mass of each of the five components is close to 0.4 M_{\odot} and the age is in the range 1-2 Myr. The presence of discs in some of the components offers an interesting opportunity to investigate the formation and evolution of discs in the early stages of multiple very low-mass systems. In particular, we provide tentative evidence that the disc in 263C could be coplanar with the orbit of 263AB.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, Accepted 2016 May

    Analysis of the small-scale fleet’s coverage under two sampling strategies: from the DCR stock-based to the DCF concurrent sampling in the Northern Spanish coastal gillnets fleet

    Working document presented at the WGCATCH 2015 meeting.The Northern Spanish coastal small scale fleet represents a major challenge for sampling due to the multi-species and multi-gear character and the complexity of the fleets’ dynamics. Particularly, the small-scale gillnets called “beta” (GNS_DEF_60-79_0_0) represents a complex Spanish métiers in terms of catches, effort, geographical distribution and the number of exploited species. Comparison of data obtained in 2008, under a stock-based approach, versus concurrent sampling realized in 2014 resulted in the increase of the information obtained and provided to ICES without detected failures in data quality. Concurrent sampling could represent a source of information for small-scale fisheries which often target a set of coastal species some of which are presently unassesed
