The environmental degradation has resulted in decline of several anuran populations. The present work aim was to analyze ecological aspects of anuran assemblages in different environments in the municipality of Hidrolândia, Goiás, relating the environmental heterogeneity with the breadth and spatial niche overlap, in addition to producing information about the richness, the abundance, and the spatial and temporal distribution of the local populations. The samples were realized monthly among September 2006 and August 2007, by visits with three days of duration, in five different environments of the region. Twenty-two species of anurans were registered, with an abundance of approximately 4.000 specimens, classified in 11 genus and six families. The most abundant species were Dendropsophus minutus, D. Cruzi, and Physalaemus cuvieri. The habitat with the biggest spatial heterogeneity was also the one with the biggest species diversity (1.03). The sampled environments presented a high anuran fauna similarity, showing a greater similarity in forests and anthropic environments. In order to describe the limits and the interpenetration of spatial distribution activities of each species registered, analysis of breadth and spatial niche overlap were realized. The set of data analyzed has determined a direct influence of environmental spatial heterogeneity in the richness and in the spatial and temporal share of local anurans. Key words: environmental heterogeneity, spatial and temporal distribution, anurans. Our planet's biodiversity remains largely unexplored, highlighting the need for effective biodiversity management and conservation strategies. This study investigates the role of fauna monitoring and rescue data on the discovery of new herpetofauna species in Brazilian biomes. By analyzing a comprehensive database of published literature on reptiles and amphibians in Brazil, the study evaluated the influence of data from fauna studies within the scope of environmental licensing in the description of species, examining temporal variations and espionage in the discovery of species, inspired by activities associated with the description of new species. Descriptive statistics, mechanical analysis and spatial mapping techniques were employed to analyze the collected data. Our findings clearly demonstrate the importance of this information in expanding knowledge of herpetofauna biodiversity, informing conservation strategies, and supporting ecosystem management and policy decisions. The study revealed a significant increase in the number of published studies on amphibians and reptiles over the years. Positive correlations between the number of species described and the years of publication were observed for both groups. Fauna monitoring and rescue activities also contribute to the description of species, although they represent a small percentage of the total known species in Brazil. The year 2018 stood out as the year with the highest number of species of species, and environmental impact studies played a significant role in the discovery of new species. Amphibians had a greater number of described species than reptiles, with emphasis on the Amphisbaenidae family among reptiles. The Amazon Forest and Cerrado were identified as regions with high species diversity. The Hylidae family was the most representative among amphibians, while Amphisbaenidae dominated among reptiles. Hydroelectric dams and road construction were the main types of projects associated with the description of new species. Wildlife rescue activities have also played a significant role in species discovery. This article emphasizes the importance of knowing the biodiversity of amphibians and reptiles in Brazil and highlights the increase in research and publications on these groups. The inclusion of fauna monitoring and rescue data has led to the discovery and description of new species, hopeful for scientific research and conservation planning. Preserving natural areas and implementing habitat-specific conservation measures are crucial to protecting these species. Ongoing monitoring, research and collaboration among stakeholders are essential for species identification, conservation assessment and preservation of Brazil's wildlife diversity

We provide new morphological and geographic distribution data for Leposternon mineiro. Fifteen specimens of L. mineiro were analyzed (six specimens of the type series and nine additional specimens), in addition to 404 specimens of other species of the genus, used for identification and comparison. Meristic characters, morphometrics, head scale patterns and dentition matched the previously published diagnosis of the species, but we also found some variations compared to the type series. We expanded the ranges of the following diagnostic characters of L. mineiro: snout-vent length 221–380 mm, tail length 11.5–23.4 mm, 252–300 dorsal postpectoral halfannuli, 252–280 ventral postpectoral half-annuli, 14–16 caudal annuli, 26–37 dorsal segments and 24–39 ventral segments in a midbody annuli, and 2–4 precloacal pores. The new record from the municipality of Cristalina, State of Goiás, extends the geographic distribution of the species by 148 km west of nearest record.Nós fornecemos novos dados morfológicos e de distribuição geográfica para Leposternon mineiro.

This study analyzes the pattern of occurrence of anurans species in relation of habitat, considering two different landscape uses from Jataí municipality, southwestern Goiás State, Central Brazil. Anurofaunal composition on Jataí represented 24% of anuran diversity of Goiás State, with great similarity with Aporé municipality, hydrographic sub-basin of the river Corrente. The relation between the species richness in seven municipalities with environmental and social attributes were non-significant. Considering the tadpoles assemblages in Jataí were sampled 40 ponds (24 distant of the monoculture and 16 located in the proximities of the monoculture). The study registered 4.529 specimens, classified in four families, 18 anuran species, presenting Scinax fuscovarius, Dendropsophus minutus and Eupemphix nattereri the most common species. The mean richness of species by sampled pond was significantly different in the families Hylidae and Leptodactylidae. The results showed that ponds distant of monoculture were more heterogeneous and possess a biggest diversity of species. The Canonical Correspondence Analyses showed the biggest predictive power to the environmental variables: predator types; distance of forest fragments; depth; and, hydroperiod. Spatial and temporal attributes were important to the species composition. Ponds distant to the monoculture presented (in mean) a bigger number of types of microhabitat and significant relation between the availability and the utilization by tadpoles. Significant difference was observed between niche breadths in the categories, with biggest values in the ponds distant to the monoculture. The species in ponds distant to the monoculture showed high plasticity in the environmental occupancy. The relation between spatial niche overlap and ecomorphological and phylogenetic patterns to the pars of the species were non-significant in the multivariate context. The results will subsidize actions directed to the management in agricultural areas in the scope of Conservation BiologyO conhecimento básico das respostas das espécies frente às perturbações naturais e antrópicas nos ambientes é primordial para o desenvolvimento de estratégias efetivas para conservação.
