»l´amour / die tür / the chair / der bauch«: Konkrete Poesie als Europäisches Projekt

Dieser Beitrag untersucht das Netzwerk der Schreibenden, die der Konkreten Poesie-Bewegung der 1950er und 1960er Jahre zuzuzählen sind. Dabei wird unter Bezugnahme auf die theoretischen Ansätze Sassatellis, Schmales und Metzeltins die These aufgestellt, dass dieses weltumspannende Netzwerk als ein ›europäisches Projekt‹ verstanden werden kann. Die Geschichte der Konkreten Poesie und Verbindungen der Konkreten Schreibenden aus den verschiedenen Teilen der Welt zueinander werden dargestellt, bevor Ernst Jandl als Fallbeispiel herangezogen wird, um die poetologischen und politischen Dimensionen des Konkreten näher zu beleuchten. Abschließend werden die Erkenntnisse in aktuellen Europa-Diskursen kontextualisiert

The Open Science Network Austria (OANA) and its working group “Legal Aspects of Open Science”

In diesem Beitrag wird das Open Science Network Austria (OANA) vorgestellt. Die Entwicklung und Struktur des Netzwerks werden einleitend beschrieben, bevor Open Science einerseits als allgemeiner Begriff, andererseits in der Definition von OANA umrissen wird. Präsentiert werden außerdem Umfeld und Partner*innen von OANA sowie die wichtigsten programmatischen Errungenschaften des Netzwerks. Der Beitrag konzentriert sich schließlich auf die aktuellen Arbeitsgruppen der OANA und insbesondere auf die Tätigkeit der AG “Rechtliche Aspekte von Open Science”.This paper introduces the Open Science Network Austria (OANA). Common Creativity International: CC-licensing and Other Options for TEI-based Digital Editions in an International Context

In the digital age, the legal situation of the data produced in research projects that are relevant to an international research community such as the TEI is becoming more and more important. Because of differences in national laws, data produced and legally reusable in one country can be unprocessable in another. Therefore, ready-made licenses have become a powerful tool to facilitate digital research on an international scale. This paper discusses the concept of copyright in the context of global laws that make open licenses vital for ensuring the sustainability of (digital) research data. Three types of ready-made licenses (Creative Commons, Open Data Commons, and Digital Peer Publishing Licenses) and their specific strengths are examined. Finally, the history of the transformation of the abstracts of the 2016 TEI Conference and Members’ Meeting will serve as an example to show what proper licensing can do to push the research process

Ernst Jandl Online: Lebenswerk und Leben eines Werkes im digitalen Raum

"Dieser Beitrag hat die Plattform Ernst Jandl Online zum Thema. Nach einer Einführung zum österreichischen Schriftsteller Ernst Jandl (1925-2000) und zu bisherigen Ansätzen, sein Leben in verschiedenen Formaten zu präsentieren, wird das Konzept der Plattform dargestellt. Den Ausgangspunkt der Überlegungen bildet dabei die Frage nach dem Verhältnis von verschiedenartigen Egodokumenten zueinander. Ausgehend davon wird das biographietheoretische Konzept der Website skizziert, die sich einerseits auf das Modell der Anti-Biographie (Nye), andererseits auf die historischen Formen der Biobibliographik stützt. Unter Miteinbeziehung der Akteur-Netzwerk-Theorie und Pierre Bourdieus Biographieverständnis werden die konventionellen Ansätze biographischer Narration (Werk- und Leistungsschau, vom Geniegedanken ausgehende Meistererzählung und Entwicklungsgeschichte) hinterfragt und der Versuch beschrieben, sie mit dem datenbasierten Zugang der Plattform zu durchbrechen: Die Zersplitterung des Subjekts im digitalen Raum wird fruchtbar gemacht, indem die 'Biographeme' (Barthes) identifiziert, sichtbar gemacht und neu zusammengefügt werden. This paper investigates creative word formation and especially the word for­mation method of gapping in Peter Handke’s literature by employing corpus linguistic methods. His novel Der Bildverlust oder Durch die Sierra de Gredos (2002; transl. Crossing the Sierra de Gredos, 2007) is investigated as an exemplary work of the author’s late creative development and compared to the novella Kali. Eine Vorwintergeschichte (2007) in order to test the findings. The linguistic analysis is framed and contextualized with a literary criti­cism approach, thus offering new perspectives for both disciplines

Editorial Introduction to Issue 11 of the Journal of the Text Encoding Initiative

It is with great pleasure that we present another issue of the Journal of the Text Encoding Initiative with papers selected from the sixteenth annual TEI Conference and Members’ Meeting, which was hosted by the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna in 2016. This issue illustrates the variety of research that is being done within the TEI community. The call for papers was issued by the Program Committee without limitation to a specific topic.
