De financiële malversaties in een aantal grote en gereputeerde beursgenoteerde bedrijven, zakenbanken die, ondanks de negatieve informatie waarover ze beschikten, klanten aanraadden aandelen te blijven kopen, het zijn enkele elementen die mee geleid hebben tot het gigantische waardeverlies op de financiële beurzen en die een grondige discussie op gang hebben gebracht over de rol die eenieder moet spelen in de wereld van de financiële communicatie en waarbij een evenwicht moet gevonden worden tussen de financiële belangen van beursgenoteerde bedrijven, banken en belegger enerzijds en beroepsethiek anderzijds. De reflectie is in ieder geval gestart en heeft reeds geleid tot een aantal initiatieven op alle niveaus teneinde de geloofwaardigheid en het vertrouwen te herstellen.

Discrepancies in Thorium Oxide Solubility Values: a New Experimental Approach to Improve Understanding of Oxide Surface at Solid/Solution Interface

Accepted for publication in Radiochimica ActaThe solubility of ThO2(cr) was studied since many years but a large discrepancy in solubility values is noticed in the literature. The present work suggests that this discrepancy is related to differences in the surface properties of thorium oxide. To understand the role of surface properties on solubility values, we conducted experiments with ThO2(cr) spheres with reproducable surface properties. Batch dissolution experiments were conducted in 0.01 M NaCl solution at pH = 3.0 and 4.0 for periods of time up to 270 days. The solutions were spiked with 229Th to determine precipitation (sorption) rates of thorium, while dissolution rates were determined by measuring 232Th released from ThO2(cr) spheres. We assume that 229Th atoms are exchanged only with active sites involved in Th-dissolution. Using 229Th as local sensor of attachement and detachment processes at the ThO2(cr) surface under close-to-equilibrium conditions, allows to assess surface reactivity of the solid during solubility experiments

Portrait d’une Baba Yaga polonaise

Le présent article a pour objet de dresser le portrait de Baba Yaga telle qu’elle apparaît dans Le Conteur polonais (1853) d’A. J. Gliński. Étant donné que la Russie a participé au démantèlement de la Pologne à la fin du xviiie siècle, il est étonnant de trouver la sorcière la plus représentative de cette culture « ennemie » dans un recueil de contes populaires polonais. Tout en tentant de la situer par rapport à son homologue russe, je vais essayer de comprendre sa présence et sa signification dans sept contes de Gliński, en me reportant à la question de la culture nationale dans la Pologne du xixe siècle ainsi qu’au contexte slavophile qui succède au Printemps des peuples.In my paper I seek to draw the portrait of Baba Yaga as she appears in A.J. Gliński’s The Polish Tale Teller (1853). Insofar Russia contributed to the dismantling of Poland at the end of the 18th century, it is surprising to find the most representative witch of this “enemy” culture in a Polish collection of folktales. I will first compare her to her Russian counterpart. Then I will try to understand her presence and meaning in seven of Gliński’s fairy tales by referring to the intricate question of national culture in 19th-century Poland and the Slavophilia that came after the Spring of Nations

Brandys et le cinéma : coup de projecteur sur ses années soixante

BRANDYS AND CINEMA: THE SIXTIES IN THE SPOTLIGHT The present article is a comparative study of two adaptations of Kazimierz Brandys’s works: Samson (1948) and How to Be Loved (1960). Both texts were adapted in the sixties, which were therefore the period of Brandys’s learning of the new job of screenwriting, but also the time of his progressive ideological transformation, which peaked in 1966 when he resigned from the communist party. Considering this simultaneity, one can wonder whether there was a connection between Brandys’s discovery of cinema and his ideological conversion. The analysis of Andrzej Wajda’s (1961) and Wojciech Has’s (1963) films shows that Brandys the screenwriter distanced himself from Brandys the writer, moving from a Marxist toward an existentialist vision of human being. BRANDYS I KINO: REFLEKTOREM PO LATACH 60. Artykuł stanowi studium porównawcze ekranizacji dwóch utworów Kazimierza Brandysa: Samsona (1948) i Jak być kochaną (1960). Oba teksty zostały zaadaptowane w latach 60., czyli w okresie stopniowej transformacji ideologicznej pisarza, który zapoznawał się jednocześnie z nowym zawodem scenarzysty. Biorąc pod uwagę równoczesność tych dwóch procesów — odkrywania pracy pisarskiej dla kina oraz przemiany światopoglądowej — autorka zastanawia się nad ich współzależnością. W związku z tym porównuje filmy Andrzeja Wajdy (1961) i Wojciecha Hasa (1963) z oryginałami Brandysa w taki sposób, żeby uwydatnić elementy świadczące o odejściu od marksistowskiej wizji człowieka i o wpływie egzystencjalizmu Sartre’a.
