ROCnReg: An R Package for Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve Inference With and Without Covariates

This paper introduces the package ROCnReg that allows estimating the pooled ROC curve, the covariate-specific ROC curve, and the covariate-adjusted ROC curve by different methods, both from (semi) parametric and nonparametric perspectives and within Bayesian and frequentist paradigms. From the estimated ROC curve (pooled, covariate-specific, or covariate-adjusted), several summary measures of discriminatory accuracy, such as the (partial) area under the ROC curve and the Youden index, can be obtained. The package also provides functions to obtain ROC-based optimal threshold values using several criteria, namely, the Youden index criterion and the criterion that sets a target value for the false positive fraction. For the Bayesian methods, we provide tools for assessing model fit via posterior predictive checks, while the model choice can be carried out via several information criteria. Numerical and graphical outputs are provided for all methods. This is the only package implementing Bayesian procedures for ROC curves

Pengaruh Senam Lansia Terhadap Derajat Depresi Pada Lansia Di Panti Werda

: Depression is a serious medical illness with mood, cognitive, and physical symptoms. Mood symptoms include depressed, sad, or irritable mood; loss of interest in usual activities; inability to experience pleasure; feelings of guilt or worthlessness; and thoughts of death or suicide. Cognitive symptoms include inability to concentrate and difficulty in making decisions. Physical symptoms include fatigue, lack of energy and changes in sleep, appetite, and activity levels. Geriatric depression is more severe than depression in other groups of age, where it causes depressive symptomps to 15% elderly. This study was carried out to identify the impact of Senam Lansia on the degree of depression in elderly. This is an experimental study that was conducted to 18 participants that live in Senja Cerah Hospice Manado. The degree of depression was assessed using Hamilton Depression Rating Scale. This 8-weeks senam-lansia-intervented study found a positively moderate and significant impact of Senam Lansia on the degree of depression in elderly (r = 0,594; p < 0,05). Perubahan Kualitas Bakasang Ikan Malalugis (Decapterus Kurroides) Selama Penyimpanan

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang kualitas bakasang ikan malalugis (Decapterus kurroides) selama penyimpanan. Adapun kajian yang dilakukan meliputi pengujian kadar air dengan metode oven, kadar lemak dengan metode soxhletasi, serta kadar protein dengan metode kjeldahl. Berdasarkan pengujian yang dilakukan didapatkan kadar air bakasang hasil penelitian semakin meningkat selama penyimpanan dari minggu pertama sampai minggu ke empat yaitu sebesar 13,5% - 26,5%. Kandungan protein bakasang hasil penelitian menurun selama penyimpanan dari minggu pertama sampai minggu ke empat yaitu berkisar antara 4,666% - 3,855%. Sedangkan kadar lemak bakasang hasil penelitian semakin menurun yaitu berkisar antara 27,23% - 20,97%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan lama penyimpanan mempengaruhi kualitas bakasang.A research about the quality of the fish bakasang malalugis (Decapterus kurroides) during storage bakasang. The study was conducted on the testing of water content by oven method, fat content by soxhletasi method, and protein content by the Kjeldahl method. Based on tests found the water content of research bakasang was increasing during storage of the first week to the fourth week was equal to 13.5% - 26.5%. Hubungan Lingkar Pinggang Dengan Kadar Gula Darah Pada Guru Di SMP Dan SMA Eben Haezar Manado

: Central obesity that measured by waist circumference as one of metabolic syndrome's criteria, is one of many risk factor of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Teacher is an occupation which has the risk of high blood glucose and visceral fat accumulation. People with obesity have a tendency to elevation of blood glucose level. The aim of this research is to understand the correlation between waist circumference and blood glucose level on teacher in Eben Haezar junior and senior christian high school Manado. This research is a cross-sectional study that was conducted on September to December 2016. Samples were collected by total sampling method. Research data were analyzed with Spearman Rank Correlation Test. There are 83 research samples which consist of 28 men (33,7%) and 55women (66,7%). Most of teachers experienced central obesity (74,7%) and normal blood glucose level (83,1%). The result of the correlation test between waist circumference and blood glucose level is p-value = 0,9522 and r = -0,00667981. The impact of bilinguality and language context on the understanding of epistemic adverbs in health communication: the case of English and Russian

AimTo explore how English epistemic adverbs, as used in health communication, are understood by speakers depending on their first language (L1) and language context.MethodsWe used an online dissimilarity rating task with paired doctors' opinions which differed only with respect to the embedded epistemic adverbs (e.g., This treatment definitely has side effects vs. This treatment possibly has side effects). In order to evaluate the possible effect of one's L1, we compared the ratings of English-speaking monolinguals and Russian-English bilinguals in Australia (Study 1). To evaluate the impact of language context, we compared the ratings of Russian-English bilinguals in Australia and Russia (Study 2). The data were interpreted using classical multidimensional scaling (C-MDS) analysis, complemented by cultural consensus analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis.ResultsThe C-MDS analyses returned statistically acceptable results. Intragroup consensus was evident for all speaker groups. They all clustered the high confidence adverbs (clearly, definitely, and obviously) and the hearsay adverbs (presumably and supposedly) similarly. Effects of L1 were seen: for example, unlike the monolinguals, the Russian bilinguals did not include evidently with the high confidence adverbs (Study 1). An effect of context was also evident: Russian-English bilinguals in Australia most resembled the monolinguals in their understanding of epistemic adverbs. The way Russian-based bilinguals clustered epistemic adverbs reflected a less nuanced understanding (Study 2).ConclusionThe subtle differences in how adverbs of likelihood and doubt are understood in health communication suggest extra care is needed when conveying risk and uncertainty to patients from diverse linguistic and/or cultural backgrounds to ensure mutual understanding and mitigate against miscommunication. The impact of L1 and language context on one's understanding highlights the need to explore more widely how epistemic adverbs are understood by diverse populations and, in doing so, improve healthcare communication practices

Identifikasi Barcode Tumbuhan Gedi Merah (Abelmoschus Manihot L. Medik) Dan Gedi Hijau (Abelmoschus Moschatus) Berdasarkan Gen MatK

Gedi (Abelmoschus L.) merupakan tumbuhan tropis. Tumbuhan ini memilki efek farmakologis. Masyarakat Minahasa mengkonsumsi daun gedi yang direbus tanpa diberi bumbu sebagai obat tradisional untuk menurunkan kadar kolesterol, antihipertensi dan antidiabetes. Suatu metode baru untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis keanekaragaman genetika spesies telah dikembangkan dengan menggunakan potongan gen standar yang dikenal dengan teknik DNA barcoding. Salah satu gen yang terdapat pada tumbuhan yaitu gen matK telah digunakan sebagai gen standar untuk barcoding. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan isolasi DNA total dan gen matK penanda barcode DNA dari gedi merah dan gedi hijau, serta analisis in-silico terhadap produk gen matK gedi merah, gedi hijau, dan kerabat terdekatnya. Gen matK diisolasi dan diamplifikasi menggunakan metode Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) menggunakan primer forward (5'-CGTACAGTACTTTTGTGTTT ACGAG-3') dan primer reverse (5'-ACCCAGTCCATCTGGAAATCTTGGTTC-3'). Hasil pengurutan nukleotida DNA barcode matK menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 828 pb matK berhasil diisolasi untuk tumbuhan gedi merah dan tumbuhan gedi hijau. Urutan nukleotida matK gedi merah dan gedi hijau menunjukkan tingkat kemiripan yang tinggi, yaitu > 95%. Selain itu, hasil analisis in-silico menunjukkan bahwa protein MatK gedi dan kerabat terdekatnya bersifat hidrofobik.Gedi (Abelmoschus L.) is a tropical plant. This plant has the pharmacological effects. Minahasan people consumed boiled gedi without any spices addition to lower cholesterol level, blood pressure, and glucose level. A new method for identifying and analyzing the genetic diversity of species has been developed using standard gene known as DNA barcoding technique. One of the genes found in plants called matK gene was used as standard for DNA barcoding. In this research, identification of DNA barcode of red gedi and green gedi based on matK gene, and in-silico analysis on the matK gene products of red gedi, green gedi, and its closest relatives gedi have been done. matK gene was isolated with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) using forward primer (5'-CGTACAGTACTTTTGTGTTTACGAG-3') and reverse primer (5'-ACCCAGTCCATCTGGAAATCTTGGTTC-3'). Barcode DNA of red and green gedi showed 828 bp nucleotide sequence based on matK gene. In addition, matK of both gedi showed high similarity, i.e. >95%. Furthermore, in-silico analysis of MatK gedi and its closest relative showed that this protein is hidrophobic
