A Student’s Perspective of the Tucker Student Center
Throughout the years, students have come to Gardner-Webb for a number of reasons, including the beautiful campus, Division I sports, great faculty members, and an openness rarely seen among other universities. As a senior who is well versed in the culture of Gardner-Webb, I can say with confidence that all of these aspects have stayed true throughout my college career. But for a campus that stresses the importance of its students and community, there always seemed to be one thing missing: a single location that catered to just that: community among students.https://digitalcommons.gardner-webb.edu/gardner-webb-newscenter-archive/2781/thumbnail.jp
Endogenous development of natural resource management in the communal areas of Southern Zimbabwe : a case study approach
Despite decades of development efforts to combat desertification processes in southern
Zimbabwe, a development deadlock occurs. Using the local knowledge systems as a basis, and
making an effort to strategically facilitate the revival of their capacity for checks and balances as
a development approach, endogenous development could become more realistic.
The actor-oriented RAAKS.methodology offers relevant tools for a case study'in which an
insight into the processes of innovation is obtained in order to confirm this.
The Charurnbira case study shows that many local interfaces hinder development. Although the
facilitation of platform processes could enhance endogenous development, the external
environment provides a serious constraint. The method employed did ndt permit broad
conclusions, but a deeper examination of recent experiences suggested that by giving local
people a greater say in natural resource use, local knowledge could be utilized more effectively
and better use could be made of traditional management structures.Development AdministrationM.A. (Development Administration
Virtual frontiers: How online spaces are redefining the value and viability of performative foreign language learning
This paper will seek to contrast the rapidly growing commercial industry of digitally-mediated foreign language education with the gradually diminishing support for foreign language programs in American universities. After first analyzing evidence that justifies the need for foreign language education at the university level, it then digs deeper to locate the characteristics of those most successful online classroom models. It will finally draw on theories of language, teaching, and performativity in an effort to explore how digital spaces have and will shape the relationship between instructor and student and the performance of foreign language learning
amplo.
ABSTRACT: This Project is part of the Master of Specialized Translation and proposes a
collection of terminology in healthcare, focusing specifically on nutrition in sub-
Saharan Africa. The essence of this work lies in developing a bilingual descriptive
glossary about the local food products, produced or harvested directly in their
natural environment. This glossary includes terms of current procedures, generic
references on nutrition and agriculture, translated from French into Portuguese, for
dissemination in Lusophone African countries. Thus, the recipients of this
descriptive glossary are, in the first instance, advisers in the area of health or
nutritional education, rural and urban farmers but may involve a much wider
audience
