Objective: The present study was undertaken to evaluate immunomodulatory activity of ethanolic extract and isolated compound from the whole plant of Moringa concanensis Nimmo Methods: Immunomodulatory activities were determined by in vitro models-plaque-forming cell assay, nitric oxide (NO) radical scavenging activity, inhibit RAW 264.7 macrophage cell line from generating harmful NO induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] assay. Results: Showed significant (P<0.01) phagocytic effect on human neutrophils in the parameters studied. Scavenged nitric oxide radical by ethanolic extract of Moringa concanensis inhibition 34% and isolated compound scavenged nitric oxide radical inhibition 44% respectively compared to control group exerted 52% decrease of nitric oxide radical respectively concentration at 0.1,0.01 and1.0 mg/ml. LPS in murine macrophage, RAW 264.7 cells culture medium induced a high release of NO but pretreatment with Moringa concanensis extract and isolated compound resulted in inhibition of NO production by 29, 37, 95 % and 32,44,96 % at concentrations of 0.5, 0.1 and 1.0 mg/ml, compared to LPS-induced sample. ethanolic extract and isolated compound significantly stimulate RAW 264.7 cell viability (P<0.001) by MTT assay. Conclusion: The present experimental finding demonstrated that isolated compound has superior immunomodulatory activity than the ethanolic extract of Moringa concanensis this effect presumably due to the greater ability of an isolated compound to boost the innate and adaptive immune system

    Privacy Preserving by Anonymization Approach

    Get PDF
Privacy Preserving takes more attention in data mining because now a days people registers every days on so many sites and gives their personal details like DOB, Zip code, etc. and from that any attacker can get sensitive data of individual person so here privacy is breached due to this problem Randomization, Anonymization, Cryptography, Partition, other many approaches are introduced from them each approach have their own limitations and Anonymization have Information Loss and In some case privacy also breached so for that this new approach introduce which will decrease Information Loss and increase privacy

Effect of diuretics on sodium, potassium and chloride levels- a cross sectional study

    Get PDF
Background: Diuretics are one of the widely used class of drugs used in various cardiovascular and other disorders. However, they can cause various metabolic adverse effects, electrolyte imbalance being among important changes. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in which patients diagnosed with hypertension for at least one month were included. Over a period of 6 months patients were enrolled irrespective of whether they were taking diuretics or not. Demographic details, drug therapy and electrolyte levels were recorded in a proforma. Data was analyzed for difference in serum electrolyte levels between diuretic and nondiuretic groups as well as between different diuretic groups. Results: Out of total 177 participants, 71 were on diuretic therapy. There was significant difference in mean serum sodium (S. Na), potassium (S. K) and chlorine (S. Cl) levels between diuretic and nondiuretic groups (P<0.05). Hyponatremia, hypokalemia and hyperkalemia were observed. Thiazide diuretic group showed significantly greater hyponatremia compared to other diuretics (P=0.028). Hyperkalemia was observed in participants receiving K sparing diuretic or combination of loop and K sparing diuretics. Old age and number of comorbidities showed negative association with S. Na. Females had significantly more hyponatremia than male participants. Conclusions: The study confirms that diuretics cause various abnormalities in electrolytes namely Na and K levels. Old age, comorbidities and female sex are risk factors for hyponatremia

Managers vs. Students: New Approach in Analyzing Current Practices in Capital Structure Management Education

    Get PDF
According to Graham and Harvey (2001), an immense gap exists between capital structure theories and practice. This paper argues that this can be partially explained by current educational practices by analyzing undergraduate students'perceptions of capital structure theories and the differences between their opinion and that of the current CEO's and managers. Educators mostly focus on one or maybe two most popular theories and students have much smaller knowledge about other theories. Secondly educational practices favor trade-off theory to asymmetric information based theories. The paper provides some suggestions regarding capital structure education and future research

Marginal bone loss around platform-switched and platform-matched implants following immediate dental implant placement – Systematic Review

    Get PDF
Objective This study aimed to examine marginal bone loss (MBL) around immediately placed platform-switched implants (PS) compared to platform-matched (PM) implants; and to critically appraise the available literature on this topic. Materials and Methods Randomized control trials (RCTs), non- randomized control trials (NRCT) and case series of immediate placement platform-switched and platform-matched implant, published in English were included in the study. Two databases, namely Medline and PubMed covering the period between July 1966 and July 2023 were searched. A total of five case series, five RCTs and one NRCT were included in this systematic review by using pre-defined study selection criteria and following the PRISMA protocol. A critical appraisal of the selected studies was completed using standardized appraisal checklists, including CASP tool for critical appraisal of RCTs, the Downs and Black checklist for NRCT, and the CEBMa checklist for case series studies. Results Five studies showed a statistically significant difference in MBL (PS: 0.18–0.78 mm, PM 0.51–1.19 mm). The studies featured a small sample size, and substantial methodological variability in patients’ selection criteria, implant and abutment designs, connection types and surgical protocols. A high risk of bias was identified, especially in case series studies. Conclusion The use of PS implants in immediate placement protocols can lead to a statistically significant reduction in MBL compared to PM implants. However, the results need to be interpreted with caution, given the numerous confounding variables and clinical heterogeneity existing between the studies

Background: In today’s era of technology, intelligence and success are not viewed the same way they were before. New theories of intelligence have been introduced and are gradually replacing the traditional theory. Academic achievement is based on creativity, emotions, and interpersonal skills. Methods: The aim of this study was to see whether there is a relationship between emotional intelligence and academic success. Study was done on 1st MBBS students of Govt. Medical College, Bhavnagar. The sample size was 75 students (boys and girls). The emotional intelligence questionnaire from Institute for Health and Human Potential was given to the students, Depending on the EQ score we divided the students in to five groups and compared with their academic performance. Results: Study showed inverse relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement. Conclusion: There is a negative relation among emotional intelligence and academic achievement of the participants

    Enabling lightweight, high load aero-bearings

Environmental and commercial considerations are strongly driving research into weight saving in aircraft. In this research, innovative manufacturing processes were developed to produce lightweight titanium alloy bearings capable of withstanding high bearing pressures. This will enable the replacement of heavier conventional bearing materials with titanium alloy bearings of the same size thereby saving weight. Plasma processing and PVD coating techniques were refined and combined and a sound scientific understanding of the resulting novel processes developed to assure high performance, reliability and repeatability. These techniques were applied to test discs and small bearing (bush) samples, which were tested under progressively greater loads (pressures). FEA was also used to evaluate pressure distribution in a bush test assembly. The novel treatment has potential applications for many bearings and bearing surfaces throughout aircraft.peer-reviewe
