The Effect of Doping on the Electrophysical Properties of Polycrystalline Diamond Films Deposited from an Abnormal Glow Discharge
The paper is focused on the study of the boron doping effect on the electrical characteristics, on the mechanism of charge carrier transfer, and on the energy spectrum of the localized defect states in the polycrystalline diamond films (PDF) deposited from an abnormal glow discharge. PDF doping enables to form the semiconductor layers of p-type conductivity, which have as good properties as those of PDF produced by the alternative methods. The doping reduces the degree of disorder in the film material brought by the growth defects, which determine the film electrical characteristics and electrotransfer mechanism. The PDF electrical characteristics and electrotransfer mechanism are determined by the defects of different nature, whose band gap energy levels have a continuous energy distribution. A p-type activation component is realized in the exchange of charge carriers between the valence band and shallow acceptor levels with the activation energy of 0.013-0.022 eV. Doping increases the effect of the hopping mechanism of the conductivity involving the localized states with a density of (1-6)•10{20} eV{-1}•cm{-3} distributed near the Fermi level, which is in the low half of the band gap
Properties of the VT1-0 titanium surface modified by a pulsed ion beam
The physicomechanical properties of the VT1-0 titanium surface modified by a pulsed carbon ion beam at a pulse duration of 80 ns, an energy of 200 keV, a current density of 120 A/cm2, an energy density of 1.92 J/cm2, and various numbers of pulses (four regimes) are studied. Irradiation by the beam leads to hardening of a 1.8-μm-thick surface layer in titanium, a decrease in the hydrogen sorption rate, a decrease in the grain size, and the formation of twins
Peasant settlers and the ‘civilizing mission’ in Russian Turkestan, 1865-1917
This article provides an introduction to one of the lesser-known examples of European settler colonialism, the settlement of European (mainly Russian and Ukrainian) peasants in Southern Central Asia (Turkestan) in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It establishes the legal background and demographic impact of peasant settlement, and the role played by the state in organising and encouraging it. It explores official attitudes towards the settlers (which were often very negative), and their relations with the local Kazakh and Kyrgyz population. The article adopts a comparative framework, looking at Turkestan alongside Algeria and Southern Africa, and seeking to establish whether paradigms developed in the study of other settler societies (such as the ‘poor white’) are of any relevance in understanding Slavic peasant settlement in Turkestan. It concludes that there are many close parallels with European settlement in other regions with large indigenous populations, but that racial ideology played a much less important role in the Russian case compared to religious divisions and fears of cultural backsliding. This did not prevent relations between settlers and the ‘native’ population deteriorating markedly in the years before the First World War, resulting in large-scale rebellion in 1916
Observation of decays using the 2019-2022 Belle II data sample
We present a measurement of the branching fractions of four decay modes. The measurement is based on data from
SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions at the resonance
collected with the Belle II detector and corresponding to an integrated
luminosity of . The event yields are extracted from fits
to the distributions of the difference between expected and observed meson
energy to separate signal and background, and are efficiency-corrected as a
function of the invariant mass of the system. We find the branching
fractions to be: where the first uncertainty is statistical and
the second systematic. These results include the first observation of
, , and decays and a significant improvement in the precision
of compared to previous measurements

Search for Axionlike Particles Produced in e+e- Collisions at Belle II
We present a search for the direct production of a light pseudoscalar a decaying into two photons with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We search for the process e+e-→γa, a→γγ in the mass range 0.2<9.7 GeV/c2 using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of (445±3) pb-1. Light pseudoscalars interacting predominantly with standard model gauge bosons (so-called axionlike particles or ALPs) are frequently postulated in extensions of the standard model. We find no evidence for ALPs and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the coupling strength gaγγ of ALPs to photons at the level of 10-3 GeV-1. The limits are the most restrictive to date for 0.2<1 GeV/c2
Precise measurement of the lifetime at Belle II
We measure the lifetime of the meson using a data sample of 207
fb collected by the Belle II experiment running at the SuperKEKB
asymmetric-energy collider. The lifetime is determined by fitting the
decay-time distribution of a sample of
decays. Our result is \tau^{}_{D^+_s} = (498.7\pm
1.7\,^{+1.1}_{-0.8}) fs, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the
second is systematic. This result is significantly more precise than previous

Measurement of the integrated luminosity of the Phase 2 data of the Belle II experiment
From April to July 2018, a data sample at the peak energy of the γ(4S) resonance was collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB electron-positron collider. This is the first data sample of the Belle II experiment. Using Bhabha and digamma events, we measure the integrated luminosity of the data sample to be (496.3 ± 0.3 ± 3.0) pb-1, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. This work provides a basis for future luminosity measurements at Belle II
Tests of light-lepton universality in angular asymmetries of decays
We present the first comprehensive tests of light-lepton universality in the
angular distributions of semileptonic \Bz-meson decays to charged spin-1
charmed mesons. We measure five angular-asymmetry observables as functions of
the decay recoil that are sensitive to lepton-universality-violating
contributions. We use events where one neutral \B is fully reconstructed in
\PUpsilonFourS{} \to\B\overline{B} decays in data corresponding to \lumion
integrated luminosity from electron-positron collisions collected with the
\belletwo detector. We find no significant deviation from the standard model
expectations
Measurement of branching fractions and direct asymmetries for and decays at Belle II
We report measurements of the branching fractions and direct
asymmetries of the decays , , , and , and use these for testing the standard
model through an isospin-based sum rule. In addition, we measure the branching
fraction and direct asymmetry of the decay and
the branching fraction of the decay . The data are
collected with the Belle II detector from collisions at the
resonance produced by the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy collider
and contain bottom-antibottom meson pairs. Signal yields are
determined in two-dimensional fits to background-discriminating variables, and
range from 500 to 3900 decays, depending on the channel. We obtain for the sum rule, in agreement with the standard model
expectation of zero and with a precision comparable to the best existing
determinations
