Helicity-dependent photoabsorption cross sections on the nucleon
We examine the energy dependence of single-meson photoproduction as it
contributes to the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule. For photon energies
above approximately 1 GeV, through the full resonance region, this contribution
dominates the proton sum rule integral. Over the same energy region, our
single-pion contribution to the neutron sum rule also qualitatively follows a
recent set of GDH data. The predicted neutral-pion contribution to the neutron
sum rule is nearly zero above 1 GeV in this result. The SAID and Mainz (MAID)
results are very different for a number of observables over this energy region.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figur
Single-energy amplitudes for pion photoproduction in the first resonance region
We consider multipole amplitudes for low-energy pion photoproduction,
constructed with minimal model dependence, at single energies. Comparisons with
fits to the full resonance region are made. Explanations are suggested for the
discrepancies and further experiments are motivated.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figure
Deuteron photo-disintegration with polarised photons in the energy range 30 - 50 MeV
The reaction d(\vec\gamma,np) has been studied using the tagged and polarised
LADON gamma ray beam at an energy 30 - 50 MeV to investigate the existence of
narrow dibaryonic resonances recently suggested from the experimental
measurements in a different laboratory. The beam was obtained by Compton
back-scattering of laser light on the electrons of the storage ring ADONE.
Photo-neutron yields were measured at five neutron angle \vartheta_n = 22,
55.5, 90, 125 and 157 degrees in the center of mass system.Our results do not

Dynamical coupled channel calculation of pion and omega meson production
A dynamical coupled channel approach is used to study and
--meson production induced by pions and photons scattering from the
proton. Six intermediate channels including , , ,
, and are employed to describe unpolarized and
polarized data. Bare parameters in an effective hadronic Lagrangian are
determined in a fit to data for , , , and reactions at center-of-mass
energies from threshold to GeV. The matrix determined in these
fits is used to calculate the photon beam asymmetry for -meson
production and the total cross section and

Polarization degrees of freedom in photoinduced two-nucleon knockout from finite nuclei
The polarization degrees of freedom in photoinduced two-nucleon knockout from
finite nuclei are studied. It is pointed out that they open good perspectives
to study the dynamics of dinucleons in the medium in detail. The ()
and () angular cross sections, photon asymmetries and outgoing
nucleon polarizations are calculated for the target nuclei O and
C and photonenergies ranging from 100 up to 500 MeV. It is investigated
to which degree the two-nucleon emission reaction is dominated by
photoabsorption on proton-neutron and proton-proton
pairs in the nuclear medium. The calculations demonstrate that dominance of
wave photoabsorption in the () channel does not necessarily imply
that the reaction mechanism is similar to what is observed in deuteron

Natural nanocomposites hemicellulose arabinogalactan and flavonoids isolated (from Siberian larch) and characterized. Additionally nitro- and sulfo-esters of arabinogalactan and its calcium salt are synthesized and. characterized. All of the derivatives of the beta-hemicellulose arabinogalactan. are water-soluble and are promising prebiotics on the example test-strain Bifidobacterium bifidum. (except for the nitrate esters of arabinogalactan)
P-wave excited baryons from pion- and photo-induced hyperon production
We report evidence for , , ,
, , and , and find
indications that might have a companion state at 1970\,MeV. The
controversial is not seen. The evidence is derived from a
study of data on pion- and photo-induced hyperon production, but other data are
included as well. Most of the resonances reported here were found in the
Karlsruhe-Helsinki (KH84) and the Carnegie-Mellon (CM) analyses but were
challenged recently by the Data Analysis Center at GWU. Our analysis is
constrained by the energy independent scattering amplitudes from either
KH84 or GWU. The two amplitudes from KH84 or GWU, respectively, lead to
slightly different branching ratios of contributing resonances but the

Photoproduction of pions and properties of baryon resonances from a Bonn-Gatchina partial wave analysis
Masses, widths and photocouplings of baryon resonances are determined in a
coupled-channel partial wave analysis of a large variety of data. The
Bonn-Gatchina partial wave formalism is extended to include a decomposition of
t- and u-exchange amplitudes into individual partial waves. The multipole
transition amplitudes for and are

THE BGO-OD EXPERIMENT AT ELSA
Meson photoproduction is a key tool for the experimental investigation of the nucleon excitation spectrum. To disentangle the specific couplings of resonances, in addition to the rather well measured pion and eta photoproduction channels it is mandatory to obtain information on channels involving strange and vector mesons and higher mass pseudoscalar mesons, and the associated multi-particle final states with both charged and neutral particles. In this respect, the new BGO-OD experiment at the ELSA accelerator of the University of Bonn's Physikalisches Institut provides unique instrumentation. We describe the experiment, present its status and the initial program of measurements
Strangeness Photoproduction at the BGO-OD Experiment
BGO-OD is a newly commissioned experiment to investigate the internal structure of the nucleon, using an energy tagged bremsstrahlung photon beam at the ELSA electron facility. The setup consists of a highly segmented BGO calorimeter surrounding the target, with a particle tracking magnetic spectrometer at forward angles. BGO-OD is ideal for investigating meson photoproduction. The extensive physics programme for open strangeness photoproduction is introduced, and preliminary analysis presented
