The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of shooting training for young basketball players and the development of shot percentage of special shot training. 30 male students-athletes participated in this study voluntarily participated in College Teams (age= 14,82 ± 1,0; height= 183,44 ± 6,13; body weight= 68,06 ± 5,38). Subjects were divided into 2 groups, consisting of continuous shooting training (experiment) (n = 15) and general basketball training group (control) (n = 15).Both training groups were subjected to a training program for 10 weeks, 4 days in a week. In this study, 60 minutes of normal basketball training plus shot training and 100-110 minutes of normal basketball training were applied to the control group. During the 10-week period, two-points jump shot (2000 pieces), three-points jump shot (2000 pieces)   and in the Zig-Zag run (two-points jump shot-1000 pieces , three-points jump shot-1000 pieces) and totally 6000 shots used as moving. There was no statistically significant difference in the pre-test results between the control and the experimental group in the study, and 2-points, 3-points and zig-zag between the control and the experimental group. However there is a statistically significant difference in all parameters in the final test. In the study, 2-points, 3-points and zig-zag drills 2 and 3-points shots pre-test and post-test results were found to be statistically significant in the experimental group. As a result; general basketball training has shown little improvement in young basketball players' shooting performance, but it has been proven that the long shot training with accurate shot technique training has significantly improved shot performance

A variation in the formation of the median nerve: communicating branch between the musculocutaneous and median nerves in man

    Get PDF
We encountered variation in the formation of the median nerve in a 66-year-old male cadaver during dissection of the upper extremity of 20 adult cadavers. The dissections were made at the Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy, Louisiana State University Medical Center. The median nerve was formed by fusion of four branches, three of them coming from the lateral cord and one from the medial cord. The normal radix from the lateral cord followed a very close oblique course over the axillary artery. The first unusual radix to the median nerve had an anastomoses from the musculocutaneous nerve to the median nerve in the proximal part of the left arm. The second unusual radix also came from the musculocutaneous nerve after it had pierced the coracobrachialis muscle and then joined with the median nerve. These kinds of variations are vulnerable to damage in radical neck dissection and other surgical operations of the axilla and upper arm. The communicating branch can be explained on the basis of its embryologic development and also ought to be distinguished from the other nerve variations in the upper extremity. The aim of this paper is to provide additional information for the classification of previously found communications between the musculocutaneous and median nerves

The anastomotic artery connecting the axillary or brachial artery to one of the forearm arteries

    Get PDF
A vessel connecting the axillary or brachial artery to one of the forearm arteries was found in a 65 year old male cadaver, during the gross anatomy dissection of the upper extremity of 20 adult cadavers at the Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy, Louisiana State University Medical Center. The right radial artery originated from the brachial artery nearly at the usual level and was connected to the axillary or brachial artery by a long slender anastomotic artery (vasa aberrantia). The anastomotic artery coursed under the medial side of the biceps muscle between the median and musculocutaneous nerves, and gave off two muscular branches to the biceps muscle. The anastomotic artery coursed between the median and musculocutaneous nerves in the arm, it passed to the forearm under the bicipital aponeurosis and connected the main radial artery on the radial side of the forearm. The anastomotic artery can be explained on the basis of its embryologic development and also ought to be distinguished from the other common arterial variations in the upper extremity

The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of playing soccer for a long time in professional soccer players to sole contact area. 15 football players (22,65 ± 2,6 years, 174,2 ± 5,6 cm height, 71,2 ± 4,8 kg body weight, 23,21 ± 1,4 kg / m² BMI) who play in the Sports Betting Super League teams, the top league of the Turkish Football Federation, who has no problem on his foot and 15 male volunteers (22,6 ± 1,6 years, 177,3 ± 5,4 cm height, 72,1 ± 3,3 kg body weight, 23,01 ± 1,9 kg / m² BMI) as control group was included in the survey. Professional footballers' age of starting football was determined as 9 years old. It has been determined that there is no anatomic disorder or discomfort in the foot, waist and knee areas which will affect the results of the foot contact area analysis in the study groups. EMED-SF (Germany) plantar pressure analysis system was used in the study. Statistically significant differences between the study groups were examined using the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test. According to the results of the research, there was no statistically difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of physical characteristics. However, Significant results were found at (0.01-0.05) level in the beginning and grand total of heel medial, heel lateral, 1.2.3.4.5 metatars in the maximal force comparisons applied to the right and left foot contact area and the floor. Furthermore, it was determined that the values of the control group were higher than the values of the experimental group.  Article visualizations

    Get PDF
This study was conducted to determine the effects of ten weekly plyometric training on anaerobic power in judokas. 30 male judokas participated in the study and the subjects were divided into two groups as an experimental (15 male age = 21,40 ± 1,99) and control (15 male age = 21,53 ± 1,80) groups. Judo training programme was applied in both groups for 3 days / 90 minutes per week. Experimental and control group were made warm up exercises for 20 minutes. Both groups continued with the special preparatory period judo training program. After warm up exercises, experimental group judokas were made plyometric training consisting of 15 different movements for 20 minutes. Then they were allowed to continue the judo training. As the groups showed normal distribution, Paired Samples T-Test was applied for the significance between pre-test and post-test measurements of the groups. Independent Samples T-Test was used to analyze the difference between the test group and control group. The Independent Samples T-Test was used to analyze the difference between the experimental group and the control group. As a result of the plyometric training, when the pre-test and post-test differences of the physical measurement parameters for the experimental and control groups were compared, the mean values of back strength, anaerobic power and body fat percentage were found to be significant(p0.05). As a result, it is seen that the regular plyometric exercises increase the performance of anaerobic power to judokas. It can be said that putting plyometric training besides judo training has a positive effect for performance

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between teachers' attitudes towards distance education and their digital literacy levels. Teachers' attitudes towards distance education and digital literacy levels were determined using a survey method. A total of 1059 teachers, 557 males and 498 females, volunteered to participate in the study. Data collection tools were a personal information form developed by the authors, the digital literacy scale developed by Ng (2012) and adapted to Turkish culture by Hamutoğlu et al. (2016), and the distance education attitude scale developed by Ağır (2007). Data were collected using an online form on Google Forms. Descriptive statistics and canonical correlation analysis was used for the statistical calculations. The results showed that teachers had moderate attitudes towards distance education and above moderate digital literacy level. Based on the results of the canonical correlation, teachers' attitudes towards distance education and their digital literacy levels were highly significant. In future studies, precautions should be taken to increase teachers' attitudes towards distance education and to enhance awareness, knowledge, and motivation. Also, it is recommended that teachers be provided with practical interventions to improve their digital literacy
