The Osculating cone to special Brill-Noether Loci

In this paper, we describe the osculating cone to Brill-Noether loci $W^{0}_{d}(C)$ at smooth isolated points of $W^{1}_{d}(C)$ for a smooth canonically embedded curve $C$ of even genus $g=2(d-1)$. In particular, we show that the canonical curve $C$ is a component of the osculating cone. Functional weak limit theorem for a local empirical process of non-stationary time series and its application to von Mises-statistics

This thesis is concerned with the asymptotics of a local empirical process of piece-wise locally stationary (PLS) time series. In this context we prove a weak limit theorem that can be seen as analogue of a result for the classical empirical process of stationary time series provided by Wu (2008). The class of PLS time series, based on the locally stationary time series model of Zhou and Wu (2009), is illustrated by means of the PLS linear process and PLS ARCH process. Moreover, we extend the continuous mapping approach for deriving the asymptotics of V-statistics of Beutner and Zähle (2014) to multi-sample V-statistics of degree d. In combination with the weak limit theorem for the local empirical process, this enables to determine the asymptotic distribution of V-statistics of degree d for non-stationary time series. We further use our extended continuous mapping approach to investigate the asymptotic distribution of the skewness of probability distributions. In addition, we develop a multivariate integration by parts formula and a Jordan decomposition for functions on R^d of locally bounded variation, which is required for the extension of the approach of Beutner and Zähle.Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Asymptotik eines lokalen empirischen Prozesses stückweise lokal stationärer (PLS) Zeitreihen. In diesem Zusammenhang beweisen wir ein schwaches Grenzwerttheorem, ein Analogon zu einem Resultat für den klassischen empirischen Prozess stationärer Zeitreihen von Wu (2008). Die Klasse der stückweise lokal stationären Zeitreihen, die auf dem lokal stationären Zeitreihenmodell von Zhou and Wu (2009) basiert, wird mittels des PLS linearen Prozesses und des PLS ARCH Prozesses veranschaulicht. Darüber hinaus erweitern wir den Continuous Mapping-Ansatz von Beutner und Zähle (2014) zur Herleitung der Asymptotik von V-Statistiken auf Mehrfachstichproben-V-Statistiken von Grad d. Kombiniert mit dem schwachen Grenzwerttheorem für den lokalen empirischen Prozess ermöglicht dies, die asymptotische Verteilung der V-Statistiken von Grad d nicht-stationärer Zeitreihen zu bestimmen. Des Weiteren wenden wir unseren erweiterten Continuous Mapping-Ansatz an, um die Asymptotik der Schiefe von Wahrscheinlichkeitsverteilungen zu untersuchen. Überdies wird eine multivariate partielle Integrationsformel und eine Jordanzerlegung für Funktionen auf R^d von lokal beschränkter Variation hergeleitet, die zur Erweiterung des Ansatzes von Beutner und Zähle erforderlich sind

Self-interacting Dark Matter and Invisibly Decaying Higgs

Self-interacting dark matter has been suggested in order to overcome the difficulties of the Cold Dark Matter model on galactic scales. We argue that a scalar gauge singlet coupled to the Higgs boson, which could lead to an invisibly decaying Higgs, is an interesting candidate for this self-interacting dark matter particle. SUPERMAN, a regulator of floral homeotic genes in Arabidopsis

We describe a locus, SUPERMAN, mutations in which result in extra stamens developing at the expense of the central carpels in the Arabidopsis thaliana flower. The development of superman flowers, from initial primordium to mature flower, is described by scanning electron microscopy. The development of doubly and triply mutant strains, constructed with superman alleles and previously identified homeotic mutations that cause alterations in floral organ identity, is also described. Essentially additive phenotypes are observed in superman agamous and superman apetala2 double mutants. The epistatic relationships observed between either apetala3 or pistillata and superman alleles suggest that the SUPERMAN gene product could be a regulator of these floral homeotic genes. To test this, the expression patterns of AGAMOUS and APETALA3 were examined in superman flowers. In wild-type flowers, APETALA3 expression is restricted to the second and third whorls where it is required for the specification of petals and stamens. In contrast, in superman flowers, APETALA3 expression expands to include most of the cells that would normally constitute the fourth whorl. This ectopic APETALA3 expression is proposed to be one of the causes of the development of the extra stamens in superman flowers. The spatial pattern of AGAMOUS expression remains unaltered in superman flowers as compared to wild-type flowers. Taken together these data indicate that one of the functions of the wild-type SUPERMAN gene product is to negatively regulate APETALA3 in the fourth whorl of the flower. In addition, superman mutants exhibit a loss of determinacy of the floral meristem, an effect that appears to be mediated by the APETALA3 and PISTILLATA gene products

Die Arbeit legt ihren Schwerpunkt auf Sachsens Kurfürst Friedrich den Weisen und sein Verhältnis zu Martin Luther in den Jahren 1512 - 1525; ein analytischer Versuch anhand der historischen Ereignisse. Die Verfasserin geht u.a. auch den Fragen nach, ab wann der Kontakt zwischen Friedrich und Luther begann; ob der Thesenanschlag wirklich stattfand; wie der Kurfürst die Lutherschutzpolitik betrieb und die Reformation erst möglich wurde. Nach einem geschichtlichen Überblick über das politische, wirtschaftliche und geistige Umfeld im kurfürstlichen Sachsen des 15. und 16. Jahrhunderts, wird auch der Mensch Friedrich, seine Politik und Frömmigkeit hinterfragt. Welche `geheimnisvolle` Symbiose bestand zwischen dem Wegbereiter der Reformation und Martin Luther? Welche Rolle spielte dabei Spalatin, der Geheimsekretär des Fürsten? Annual Policy Report 2012

Der Politikbericht 2012 der deutschen nationalen Kontaktstelle für das Europäische Migrationsnetzwerk (EMN) gibt einen Überblick über die wichtigsten politischen Diskussionen und Entwicklungen in den Bereichen Migration, Integration und Asyl in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland für das Jahr 2012. Dabei nimmt der Bericht besonderen Bezug auf Maßnahmen, welche die Bundesrepublik Deutschland zur Umsetzung des Gesamtansatzes für Migration und Mobilität, der EU-Aktion gegen Migrationsdruck, der EU-Strategie zur Bekämpfung des Menschenhandels sowie der Europäischen Agenda zur Integration von Drittstaatsangehörigen getroffen hat. Diese Maßnahmen werden durch weitere Gesetze und Initiativen der Bundesregierung in den Bereichen Migration, Integration und Asyl ergänzt. Der Zugang zu Satellitenbildern in der Orientierungsstufe: Probleme und Möglichkeiten

Kernfrage der Studie: Ist Satellitenbildeinsatz im Erdkundeunterricht der Orientierungsstufe möglich und sinnvoll? Dazu wurden Schüler der Orientierungsstufe einer Realschule und eines Gymnasiums zu drei ausgewählten Satellitenbildern befragt. Die Studie gibt Auskunft über das Farbverständnis, das genutzte Vorwissen, das Verständnis von unterschiedlichen Skalen und die Wertschätzung dieser Schüler. Insgesamt ist ein Verständnis möglich, jedoch zeigten sich signifikante Unterschiede zwischen diesen ausgewählten Schülern des Gymnasiums und der Realschule, die sich jedoch auch als studienspezifisch interpretieren ließen. Neben einer hohen Wertschätzung zeigte sich für den Einsatz das Farbverständnis als besonders interessant für weiterführende Überlegungen

Sec1/Munc18 Protein Stabilizes Fusion-Competent Syntaxin for Membrane Fusion in Arabidopsis Cytokinesis

SummaryIntracellular membrane fusion requires complexes of syntaxins with other SNARE proteins and regulatory Sec1/Munc18 (SM) proteins. In membrane fusion mediating, e.g., neurotransmitter release or glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in mammals, SM proteins preferentially interact with the inactive closed, rather than the active open, conformation of syntaxin or with the assembled SNARE complex. Other membrane fusion processes such as vacuolar fusion in yeast involve like membranes carrying cis-SNARE complexes, and the role of SM protein is unknown. We investigated syntaxin-SM protein interaction in membrane fusion of Arabidopsis cytokinesis, which involves cytokinesis-specific syntaxin KNOLLE and SM protein KEULE. KEULE interacted with an open conformation of KNOLLE that complemented both knolle and keule mutants. This interaction occurred at the cell division plane and required the KNOLLE linker sequence between helix Hc and SNARE domain. Our results suggest that in cytokinesis, SM protein stabilizes the fusion-competent open form of syntaxin, thereby promoting trans-SNARE complex formation
