Direct polymerization of levulinic acid via Ugi multicomponent reactiont

    Get PDF
A robust, direct and efficient approach has been developed for the utilization of levulinic acid (LevA) as a building block in the synthesis of polyamides. In this approach, there is no need for converting LevA to a cyclic monomer as the carboxylic acid and ketone groups are sufficient for incorporation into a polyamide. Optimization of reaction temperature, solvent, reactants as well as heating source have been performed for the Ugi multicomponent reaction. The obtained polyamides were characterized carefully using GPC, NMR, MALDI-ToF MS, DSC and TGA

    Logic and Order in Stereochemistry

    Get PDF
A framework of concepts, definitions, and classifications is discussed that form a basis for a formalized, computer-oriented approach to stereochemistry. These include constitutional symmetry and constitutionally equivalent atoms, chiral genus and its role in asymmetric syntheses, permutation isomers, the chemical identity group of molecules and ensembles of molecules, set-valued mappings and their stereochemical uses that pertain to the correlation of the stereochemical features of the educts and products in chemical reactions, as well as diverse notions that serve to classify and interpret stereoselectivity. – It is the purpose of this article to point out briefly some simple new tools for better understanding, analyzing, and criticizing current stereochemical results

    Wavelet-Based Linear-Response Time-Dependent Density-Functional Theory

Linear-response time-dependent (TD) density-functional theory (DFT) has been implemented in the pseudopotential wavelet-based electronic structure program BigDFT and results are compared against those obtained with the all-electron Gaussian-type orbital program deMon2k for the calculation of electronic absorption spectra of N2 using the TD local density approximation (LDA). The two programs give comparable excitation energies and absorption spectra once suitably extensive basis sets are used. Convergence of LDA density orbitals and orbital energies to the basis-set limit is significantly faster for BigDFT than for deMon2k. However the number of virtual orbitals used in TD-DFT calculations is a parameter in BigDFT, while all virtual orbitals are included in TD-DFT calculations in deMon2k. As a reality check, we report the x-ray crystal structure and the measured and calculated absorption spectrum (excitation energies and oscillator strengths) of the small organic molecule N-cyclohexyl-2-(4-methoxyphenyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-amine

The Case of Oral Corrective Feedback in EFL Classroom at Universitas Yapis Papua

    Get PDF
Feedback plays a significant role for all levels of students to improve their English Foreign language learning. Effective feedback allows lecturers to tap into a powerful means of helping them get better at learning. The purposes of the study are to investigate which oral feedback is used most frequently and which approach is preferred use by most lecturers. So, the data has been collected through the research instruments such as survey questionnaires and classroom observation, Then, collected data has been analysed by both qualitative methods.  After analyzing the responses of lecturers and classroom observation, it is found by the researcher that Universitas Yapis Papua lecturers like to indicate students' errors in clear ways or sometimes directly to the students.  That's why "recasts" feedback is used most frequently by most of the lecturers in Universitas Yapis Papua and most of the lecturers preferred to use "recasts" as effective feedback in their classroom in the Universitas Yapis Papua context

DENOTATION AND CONNOTATION ON ‘PATHETIC FAIRY TALE BY SAPTARASA

    Get PDF
Lyrics of songs are almost similar to poetry, which distinguishes them from song lyrics that do not require deep diction to refer to majas or symbols. Therefore, many song lyrics revolve around the meaning of denotations and connotations. This happened in Saptarasa's Pathetic Fairy Tales song lyrics. This study aims to describe the meaning of denotation and connotation of research data sources, namely Saptarasa's Pathetic Fairy Tales song lyrics. The denotative in this work tells the story of the search for love and also the way of approach. The meaning of the connotation in this work tells us that ‘I’ lyrics cannot reach ‘angel’ and only see it
