Strategic Entrepreneurship: Integrating Entrepreneurial and Strategic Management Perspectives, a Case Study at Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang, East Java
This study examines Pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) as institutions of education and religion, especially during the global and digital era. A central question concerns how Pesantren position themselves as traditional religious schools or follow the process of modernization, for example by enhancing their curriculum and changing their governance. This depends on the management model and leadership applied by the kyai (religious leader) in Pesantren in response to the changing era. In general, the leadership of Pesantren still adopt a centralized and hierarchical pattern placing the kyai as their central figure. A kyai with charismatic attainment organizes the Pesantren using his skills and knowledge. Research on the role of entrepreneurial and strategic leadership of kyais in Pesantren has been fragmented. This paper therefore examines the significance of the entrepreneurial leadership role of Kyai Salahudin Wahid in cultivating the transformational and entrepreneurial leadership spirit of Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang. The conceptual framework is focused on the development of a strategic human resources management framework which is then extended into the context of Pesantren, entrepreneurial leadership, and a strategic management perspective.

The study has as its rationale the fact that there are numerous brands of bath soap in the market. The changes of consumer behavior, which influenced by the economy crisis occurred in Indonesia, has suppressed the producers to readjust their marketing programs. It is crucial for the firms to recognize the consumer attitudes on their products in making their marketing programs. The study was aimed at understanding: (1) the consumer attitudes on the bath soaps' (i.e., Lux and Giv brands) attributes, (2) the influence of the consumer's social environment toward the subjective norm in making the purchasing decision on the Lux and Giv, (3) the differential of consumers attitudes on the Lux and Giv. Interview and questionnaire were used to collect data, by using the semantic differential scale method. Fishbein model and Wilcoxon's signed rank test were applied to test the study's results. Analisis Variabel Yang Mempengaruhi Earnings Per Share Pada Industri Food and Baverages Yang Go Public Di Bursa Efek Jakarta
This research aimed at identifying both the simultaneous and partial influence of such variables as: return on equity (X1), net sales (X2), current ratio (X3), debt to equity (X4), inventory turnover (X5), total assets turnover (X6), and net profit margin (X7), on earnings per share. To examine such influence, this research investigated the food and beverages industries listed at the Jakarta Stock Exchange. The sample investigated included: 9 firms of 1992, 15 firms of 1993, 19 firms of 1994, 20 firms for 1995 and 20 firms for 1996. Results of this research indicate some important findings. First, such variables as: return on equity (X1), net sales (X2), current ratio (X3), debt to equity (X4), inventory turnover (X5), total assets turnover (X6), and net profit margin (X7), simultaneously influence the variability of earnings per share. Second, among these independent variables, it was only X5 which did not significantly influence the variability of earnings per share. This finding is highly related to the fact that the food and beverages industry in Indonesia, to ensure the supply and quality of raw material purchased, the firm must help the local suppliers with technical assistance and working capital. The industry is to provide capital or soft loan to maintain sound and beneficial cooperation. On the other hand, raw material for the food and beverages industry, in practice, is influenced by the successful and fail harvest of suppliers. Finally, as a consequence of the constraints faced by food and beverages industry, lack of raw material is evident in a one period and abundance of raw material is evident in another. Accordingly, high inventory turnover did not indicate the firm's efficiency. Among the significantly influencing independent variables net sales (X2) and current ratio (X3) showed negative influence on earnings per share. Negative correlation was found between net sales (X2) and earnings per share and was due to the increase of operating expenses and the number of outstanding stock each year. The increasing number of outstanding stock and net sales (X2) which was not sustained by the efficiency of operating expenses, will decrease the earnings per share. On the other hand, the negative correlation between the current ratio (X3) and earnings per share was due to the increase of current asset components, namely, cash, account receivables, and inventory. This indicates over investment in current assets, which in turn, deteriorates the operating efficiency of the firms

The demand for dairy products has been increasing rapidly. Presently Indonesia is still net importer of the dairy products. There is chance to increase development the dairy farming. The need for developing the dairy farming is not only to meet the domestic demand but also in line with the goverment objectives to increase fanner income, improve the income distribution, create employment, improve quality food of the people and save foreign exchange.
In fact the dairy farming is one of the dominant component of the livestock rapid growth. The dairy farming system are dominated by smallholder dairy fanning. Their production is mainly intended for milk impor subtitution. In this regard, it is important to know the economic incentive and the comparative advantage of the domestic production.
The result of the financial analysis is that the profit for small and large scale dairy farming in Lembang are Rp 29681,45 and Rp 34854,03 / animal unit / month, in Cilimus are Rp 9099,21 and Rp 22479,01 / animal unit/ month, respectively. The family farm income are Rp 203634,58 and .Rp 370539,58/ farm/ month in Lembang and Rp 129323,15 and Rp 235065,24/ farm./ month, each of for small and large scale dairy farming, respectively.
The economic incentive criteria used in this study are Nominal Rate of Protection (NRP) and Effective of Rate Protection (ERP). They are computed at the farm level. The NRP are 41,85 % and 32,77 % for Lembang and Cilimus respectively. The NRP for milk, however, are positive and very high. The high NRP go to the dairy farming sector. â¢
The ERP is varies with the type of farm scale in each regimes, 74,11 % -74,21 % in Lembang and 106,63 - 155,72 % in Cilimus. This study indicates, that the survival of the dairy farming system merely due to the excessive protection from the goverment. The goverment policy is biased to protect toward domestic milk producers.
The analysis of comparative advantage criteria for dairy farming are domestic resource cost (DRC) or domestic resource cost ratio (DRCR). The result indicates that the DRC for Lembang are Rp 2179,89/ and Rp 2183,36/$ or DRCR are 1,25 and 1,06 for small and large scale dairy farming, respectively. Base on this finding, it can be concluded only that the smallholder dairy farming for large scale in Lembang is efficient, but the others are not efficient in resource use.
The sensitivity analysis shows that economic feasibility of the smallholder dairy farming are very sensitive to the level of production, international dairy product price and concentrate feed price, for forage price, wage rate and rale of interest are less sensitive.
In general the results indicate that the dairy farming system in this study is in efficience on the resourse economic efficient criteria. but, it has economic prospect in the future.
Key words: economic analysis -- smallholder dairy farmers -- milk -domestic resource cos
