    Effect of Air-Flow Distribution and Total-Pressure Loss on Performance of One-Sixth Segment of Turbojet Combuster

    An investigation has been conducted on a one-sixth segment of an annular turbojet combustor to determine the effects of modification in air-flow distribution and total-pressure loss on the performance of the segment. The performance features investigated during this series of determinations were the altitude operational limits and the temperature-rise efficiency. Altitude operational limits of the combustor segment, for the 19XB engine using the original combustor-basket design were approximately 38,000 feet at 17,000 rpm and 26,000 feet at 10,000 rpm. The altitude operational limits were approximately 50,000 feet at 17,000 rpm and 38,000 feet at 10,000 rpm for a combustor-basket design in which the air-passage area in the basket was redistributed so as to admit gradually no more than 20 percent of the air along the first half of the basket. In this case the total pressure loss through the combustor segment was not appreciably changed from the total-pressure loss for the original combustor basket design. Altitude operational limits of the combustor segment for the 19XB engine were above 52,000 feet at 17,000 rpm and were approximately 23,000 feet at 10,000 rpm for a combustor-basket design in which the distribution of the air-passage area in the basket was that of the original design but where the total-pressure loss was increased to 19 times the inlet reference kinetic pressure at an inlet-to-outlet density ratio of 2.4. The total-pressure loss for the original design was 14 times the inlet kinetic reference pressure at an inlet-to-outlet density ratio of 2.4

    Bulbophyllum and Vanda are tropical orchids that are widely distributed in many regions inIndonesia, as well as in Pekanbaru, Riau. These genera have their own beauty with uniquemorphological characters, therefore they attract most people especially orchid lover. Thisresearch aimed to identify the species of Bulbophyllum and Vanda in Pekanbaru and todetermine their relationship based on their morphological characters. One hundred eighteencharacters were scored from 10 orchid species, these characters were then analyzed usingNTSyst 2.02. The result identified five Bulbophyllum species (B. vaginatum, B. medusa,B.machrantum, B. echinolambium and B. coroliferum) and five Vanda species (V. teres, V.dearei, V. limbata, V. tricolorand V. sumatrana). The similarity coefficient was rangedfrom 0.24-0.72. The dendogram was mainly divided into two groups (A and B). Group Aconsisted of all Vanda species while B consisted of all Bulbophyllum species

This research aims to analyze competitive advantage strategy which is used by the Bank Nagari in effort to face and win the competition in banking business .The data collection method that author use in this study is interview, then author process data obtained by using descriptive analysis. The subject of the study are all employees who work on the division of finance and services totaling 6 people. And to strengthen research and interviews , the author also interviewed some of the customers .The results shows that the competitive advantage strategy used by the Bank Nagari is to create service differentiation drawn from five attributes such as : reliability , responsiveness , assurance , consulting services and physical evidence

    Impact of ultrafast electronic damage in single particle x-ray imaging experiments

    In single particle coherent x-ray diffraction imaging experiments, performed at x-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs), samples are exposed to intense x-ray pulses to obtain single-shot diffraction patterns. The high intensity induces electronic dynamics on the femtosecond time scale in the system, which can reduce the contrast of the obtained diffraction patterns and adds an isotropic background. We quantify the degradation of the diffraction pattern from ultrafast electronic damage by performing simulations on a biological sample exposed to x-ray pulses with different parameters. We find that the contrast is substantially reduced and the background is considerably strong only if almost all electrons are removed from their parent atoms. This happens at fluences of at least one order of magnitude larger than provided at currently available XFEL sources.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures submitted to PR

    Oscillatory Thickness Dependence of Magnetic Moments and interface-induced Changes of the Exchange Coupling in Co/Cu and Co-Ni/Cu Multilayers

    We perform first-principles calculations for the three multilayer systems (100)-Co_1/Cu_n, -NiCo_2Ni/Cu_n and -Co_4/Cu_n, and find from a comparison x of the results for system 2 and 3 that amplitude and phase of the exchange coupling are sensitive to the magnetic-slab/nonmagnetic-spacer interface. Moreover, we observe that for the system 1 and 2 the averaged magnetic moment of the magnetic slab oscillates with the spacer thickness similarly as the exchange coupling.Comment: 5 pages (Latex, to be applied 2 times) + 2 figures (.ps-files

    Fertilization Technology on Cashew Trees.

    Cashew (Anacardium occidentale Linn) is among the leading export crops in Indonesia. It is also animportant smallholder crop mainly grown in the eastern parts of Indonesia. Its expansion of growing the crop, it is however n ot followed by significant increases in yields, being low ranging of 200 – 350 kg/ha. Many factors believed affect yields achieved, begun from environment, cultivatedvarieties, up to poor management of cashew orchard. As the cashew trees are mostly developed in marginal lands, role of ferti lizer uses may become exeedingly important effort in improving the productivity of the crops. In addition, there are many evidences that the crops adequately managed may give better in yields. However, most farmers do not use fertilizers for the crops or if any, added in very small amounts obviously addressed for annual crops like maize, bean or rice usually planted among the cashew trees. As results, the cashew trees are not able to achieve opti mum yields even though the planting materials used might have high in yield potential. The fertilizers that may be used both in form of organic and inorganic ones. They should be added in such way, so the soils on which the crops are planted be able to grow and develop well, in turn, their yields increase significantly
