On Stability of Dynamic Equations on Time Scales Via Dichotomic Maps

Get PDF
Dichotomic maps are used to check the stability of ordinary differential equations and difference equations. In this paper, this method is extended to dynamic equations on time scales; the stability and asymptotic stability to the trivial solution of the first order system of dynamic equations are examined using dichotomic and strictly dichotomic maps. This method, in dynamic equations, also involves Lyapunov’s direct method

Objective: In the present study, it was aimed to adapt the fetal health anxiety inventory (FHAI) into Turkish and to analyze the validity and reliability of the scale among pregnant women. Methods: Explanatory factor analysis (EFA) was applied to 370 pregnant women in Sample I and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was applied to 200 pregnant women in Sample II. The Prenatal Distress Questionnaire (NuPDQ) was used to test criterion-related validity of the FHAI. The reliability of the inventory was examined with Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient, item-total score correlation coefficient and test-retest analysis. Results: As a result of EFA applied to Sample I, it was determined that the 14-item FHAI covered a single factor, and the scale demonstrated good fit indices (χ2/standard deviation =3.148, comparative fit index =0.907, standardized root mean squared residual =0.000, root mean square error of approximation =0.089, and p value =0.000) as a result of the CFA applied to Sample II. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between the FHAI and NuPDQ (r=0.851, p<0.01). Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient of the inventory was 0.85, and item-total score correlation coefficients were found to range between r=0.34- 0.59 (p<0.001). In the test-retest analysis, a statistically significant and positive correlation was found between the total scores of the inventory obtained in two different applications (r=0.568, p=0.001). Conclusion: The current study supported the use of 14-item FHAI as a valid and reliable tool to measure fetal health anxiety of Turkish pregnant women

The aim of this study is to examine the reflection of attachment and sensitivity behaviors on children aged 3-5 with intergenerational transmission. The research has a mixed pattern. The study included 2 grandmothers and two daughters, one of whom had secondary attachment, with children between the ages of 3-5. Thus, a total of 10 people from 3 generations participated in the study. Attachment status was determined using the Experiences in Close Relationship Inventory-II scale. The sensitivity behaviors of the mothers were examined in a semi-structured environment with the help of play dough, within the interaction of children between 3-5 years and their mothers. As a result, it was observed that there was an intergenerational transmission due to the attachment relationship of grandmothers with their older children, but this did not include the grandmothers’ younger daughters with secondary attachment. It is seen that those who have secondary attachment in mothers’ sensitivity behaviors are more positive. The results of the research support the intergenerational transfer and hierarchical attachment style theories

Objective There is limited number of studies conducted on the use of capnography for CO2 monitorization in sleep laboratories. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the correlation between the CO2 value measured by transcutaneous carbon dioxide (tcCO2) monitorization and partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PaCO2) levels measured with arterial blood gas analysis in patients diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and Sleep-related hypoventilation/hypoxemic syndromes (SRHHS). Materials and Methods Patients with bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) treatment indication who were diagnosed with OSAS and SRHHS via polysomnography (PSG), were prospectively included in the study. Four arterial blood gas analyses were conducted from all participants (pre-and post-PSG, before and after manual bi-level positive airway pressure titration) in order to find PaCO2 levels against tcCO2 monitorization. Results Totally 30 patients with sleep-related respiratory disease (SRRD), consisting of 18 patients with OSAS and COPD, and 12 patients with OSAS and obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS), were included in the study. A correlation was detected between average tcCO2 level and average PaCO2 level in night PSG (r=0.600; p<0.0001). Similarly, we found a correlation between average tcCO2 level and average PaCO2 level in BiPAP titration night measurements as well (r=0.812; p=0.001). Finally, a correlation was detected between the average PaCO2 value obtained from four blood gas samples measured in both nights and the average tcCO2 value taken from two capnographies (r=0.783; p<0.001). Conclusion Comparing tcCO2 and PaCO2 values, it was determined that the average CO2 values measured by capnography correlated with the average of simultaneous arterial CO2 values measured before and after BiPAP titration

Abstract Aim: The study was conducted to determine the relationship between puerperal hospital readiness for discharge and social and spousal support. Materials and Methods:The descriptive and relationship-seeking study was conducted with 388 women hospitalized in the maternity ward of a public hospital. Personal Information Form, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), Spouse Support Scale Perceived by Women in Early Postpartum Period (SSSPWEPP) and Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale–New Mother Form (RHD-NMF) were used to collect the data. Results:The average score of postpartum women from RHD-NMF was 171.41±28.55 with 89.9% of them to be ready for discharge. There was a weak positive correlation between total scores from RHD-NMF and MSPSS and its sub-dimensions (family, friends) (r=.164, r=.177, r=.156, respectively; p<0.01); whilst there was a weak positive correlation between total scores from RHD-NMF and SSSPWEPP and its sub-dimensions (emotional, physical, social) (r=.249, r=.199, r=.194, r=.232, respectively;p<0.01). Conclusion and Suggestions:The study found that most of the postpartum women were ready for discharge. There was a positive correlation between preparedness for discharge and social and family support and support from friends in the puerperium period; also, more physical, emotional and social support from the spouse translated into more readiness for discharge from the hospital. In addition, it was found that the most important variablee affecting readiness for discharge from the hospital was the support of friends and physical support of the spouse

Objective: Vitamin D that has pleiotropic hormone characteristics is a fat soluble vitamin. In general, vitamin D is known to be associated with rickets, but the studies show that vitamin D also acts on tissues and cells other than bone itself. In this study, we aimed to investigate if vitamin D has any effects on hemogram parameters or not. Methods: This retrospective study was done with the data obtained from 243 female and 59, totally 302 patients. Vitamin D level and hemogram parameters [(red blood cell (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb), white blood cell (WBC), platelet (PLT), mean platelet volume (MPV), and red cell distribution width (RDW)] of patients were obtained. Patients were divided into 4 groups according to their levels of vitamin D: Group 1: < 10 ng/mL; Group 2: 10-19 ng/mL; Group 3: 20-29 ng/mL, and Group 4: 30-60 ng/mL. Results: There were no significant differences in RBC, Hb, WBC, PLT, MPV, and RDW between the groups (p>0.05). Also, there was no correlation between the hemogram parameters and vitamin D. Conclusion: According to the literature, there are a lot of studies that show the relationship between vitamin D and WBC, RBC, and PLT. However, contrary to the previous studies, we were unable to find any significant relationship between vitamin D and hemogram parameters. These results serve the idea that the effects of vitamin D on the hematopoietic system should be further investigated experimentally and clinically

OBJECTIVE: Differential diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is important among fibrotic interstitial lung diseases (ILD). This study aimed to evaluate the rate of IPF in patients with fibrotic ILD and to determine the clinical-laboratory features of patients with and without IPF that would provide the differential diagnosis of IPF. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included the patients with the usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) pattern or possible UIP pattern on thorax high-resolution computed tomography, and/or UIP pattern, probable UIP or possible UIP pattern at lung biopsy according to the 2011 ATS/ERSARS/ALAT guidelines. Demographics and clinical and radiological data of the patients were recorded. All data recorded by researchers was evaluated by radiology and the clinical decision board. RESULTS: A total of 336 patients (253 men, 83 women, age 65.8 +/- 9.0 years) were evaluated. Of the patients with sufficient data for diag-nosis (n=300), the diagnosis was IPF in 121 (40.3%), unclassified idiopathic interstitial pneumonia in 50 (16.7%), combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) in 40 (13.3%), and lung involvement of connective tissue disease (CTD) in 16 (5.3%). When 29 patients with definite IPF features were added to the patients with CPFE, the total number of IPF patients reached 150 (50%). Rate of male sex (p<0.001), smoking history (p<0.001), and the presence of clubbing (p=0.001) were significantly high in patients with IPE None of the women <50 years and none of the men <50 years of age without a smoking history were diagnosed with IPE Presence of at least 1 of the symptoms suggestive of CTD, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and antinuclear antibody (FANA) positivity rates were significantly higher in the non-IPF group (p<0.001, p=0.029, p=0.009, respectively). CONCLUSION: The rate of IPF among patients with fibrotic ILD was 50%. In the differential diagnosis of IPF, sex, smoking habits, and the presence of clubbing are important. The presence of symptoms related to CTD, ESR elevation, and EANA positivity reduce the likelihood of IPF
