FOOD SAFETY IN THE MEAT INDUSTRY: A REGULATORY QUAGMIRE
Food Consumption/Nutrition/Food Safety, Livestock Production/Industries,
FIRMS, INCENTIVES, AND THE SUPPLY OF FOOD SAFETY: A FORMAL MODEL OF GOVERNMENT ENFORCEMENT
Recent instances of significant food safety breeches in both meat and biotechnology challenge traditional safety efforts. A formal model utilizing agency theory is used to explore the power relationships between the regulator and the firm. Fundamental issues effecting firms' supply of safety are demonstrated and alternative corrective mechanisms are discussed.Food Consumption/Nutrition/Food Safety,
First record of the Spiny blaasop Tylerius spinosissimus (Regan, 1908) (Tetraodontidae) from the Turkish coasts
The non-indigenous tetraodontid of Indo-Pacific origin Tylerius spinosissimus is recorded for the first time in Turkish waters and for the third time in the Mediterranean Sea. This record increases to 53 the number of Indo-Pacific alien fish species present along the coasts of Turkey
Length-weight and length-length relationships of the Mediterranean shad Alosa agone (Scopoli, 1786) from the Northeastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey
The relationships between total length (TL), fork length (FL) and standard length (SL), and between TL and weight were investigated for Mediterranenan shad, Alosa agone, from two estuary localities (Karaduvar and Samandag), North-eastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. A total of 297 specimens, 150 males and 147 females, were captured by gill net and trammel net between September 2006 and May 2007 from the NE Mediterranean Sea coast of Turkey. The values of the exponent b of the length-weight relationships (LWRs) were 3.50 for female and 3.49 for male. The length-length relationship (LLRs) between the three length measurements (TL-FL-SL) were highly correlated (r2>0.99, P<0.001). This study presented the first reference on LWRs and LLRs for Mediterranean shad species from NE Mediterranean coast of Turkey.Key words: Alosa agone, Mediterranean shad, length-weight relationship, length-length relationship, NE Mediterranean Sea
Quantal description of nucleon exchange in stochastic mean-field approach
Nucleon exchange mechanism is investigated in central collisions of symmetric
heavy-ions in the basis of the stochastic mean-field approach. Quantal
diffusion coefficients for nucleon exchange are calculated by including
non-Markovian effects and shell structure. Variances of fragment mass
distributions are calculated in central collisions of Ca +
Ca, Ca + Ca and Ni + Ni systems
Rare Decay of the Top t -> cgg in the Standard Model
We calculate the one-loop flavor changing neutral current top quark decay t
-> cgg in the Standard Model. We demonstrate that the rate for t -> cgg exceeds
the rate for a single gluon emission t -> cg by about two orders of magnitude,
while the rate for t -> cq barq (q=u) is slightly smaller than for t -> cg.Comment: 22 pages, 4 figures and 2 tables. Typo in Eq.2.1 corrected, text

Signatures for doubly-charged Higgsinos at colliders
Several supersymmetric models with extended gauge structures predict light
doubly-charged Higgsinos. Their distinctive signature at the large hadron
collider is highlighted by studying their production and decay characteristics.Comment: 3 pages, 4 figures, Latex. Submitted for SUSY 2008 proceeding
Travels in Architectural History
"Travel": Special collection 2016-2017 for the EAHN open access journal, Architectural Histories. 10 original essays stemming from an international call for papers; all double-blind peer reviewed following a pre-selection. This Special Collection explores how travel, as a collective and individual practice, has been implicated in diverse architectural cultures across a wide range of periods and geographies. It offers new perspectives on the architect’s journey, examines representations of places by travellers, and considers the place of architecture within modern tourist itineraries and practices.
Travel is a powerful force in shaping the perception of the modern world and plays an ever-growing role within architectural and urban cultures. Inextricably linked to political and ideological issues, travel redefines places and landscapes through new transport infrastructures and buildings. Architecture, in turn, is reconstructed through visual and textual narratives produced by scores of modern travellers – including writers and artists along with architects themselves. In the age of the camera, travel is bound up with new kinds of imaginaries; private records and recollections often mingle with official, stereotyped views, as the value of architectural heritage increasingly rests on the mechanical reproduction of its images. Whilst students often learn about architectural history through image collections, the place of the journey in the formation of the architect itself shifts. No longer a lone and passionate antiquarian or an itinerant designer, the modern architect eagerly hops on buses, trains and planes in pursuit of personal as well as professional interests. Increasingly built on a presumption of mobility, architectural culture integrates travel into cultural debates and design experiments. By addressing such issues from a variety of perspectives, this collection prompts us to rethink the mobile conditions in which architecture has historically been produced and received
CP Asymmetry in Charged Higgs Decays to Chargino-Neutralino
We analyze the charge-parity (CP) asymmetry in the charged Higgs boson decays
to chargino-neutralino pairs, H^- -> chargino_i + neutralino_j. We show first
that these modes have a large branching ratio for m_H^- > 600 GeV. We use
Cutkosky rules to obtain the analytical formulas needed for the evaluation of
the asymmetry under consideration. We then calculate the CP asymmetry in
chargino-neutralino decays by including supersymmetric mass bounds, as well as
constraints from b -> s gamma, (g-2)_mu, Delta\rho and electric dipole moments.
Finally, we discuss observability of the asymmetry at the LHC by calculating
the number of required charged Higgs events to observe the asymmetry for each
decay channel. We show that the inclusion of constraints considerably reduces
the projected CP asymmetry, and that the optimal channel for observing the
asymmetry is H^- -> chargino_1 + neutralino_2.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figures, one tabl
