Ditch Row Ballot of Characters In Daviess County, Kentucky, the Ohio River\u27s ancient bank separates the people living in Owensboro. Those drowning in the plasmatic shallows, in the flood plains of the city, are a vigilant, tribal array of religions and mysticism. The closer a community comes to the actual banks of the river, the more enflamed characters of families become. As most places in Kentucky associate themselves with distinct counties--never being from a city--the people inside Daviess County align on streets. They Burn You They Bury You They Pull You from the Water, is the phoenix of one family from Grecian Street categorized as a ditch row clan, crucifying its matriarch to find a newer, promising story. Here, you will find them full of momentum toward a life unfettered to the stories, numerous, and stalking them all. [CLAN SHOCK] n, the effect of being born into [this]. BLOODGOODBABE: who you must understand is the Jesus turning over tables and sleeping with the hooker--matriarch, mother of the WorldSplitter, leader of holy rollers, general diamond of this rough. = WORLDSPLITTER: mother of the ShallowGraveDigger, wife of the BurstingMan. Full of regret and shame and hatred for the BloodGoodBabe. + DEEPGRAVEDIGGER: carnie that knocked up the WorldSplitter and robbed a liquor store and went to jail. = SHALLOWGRAVEDIGGER: son of the WorldSplitter, witness to several murders, knocked up his cousin and accepted his orphan fate. then there is... BURSTINGMAN: motherfucker who saves his own day and gives the WorldSplitter a new life minus her son. HUFFnTUFF: best friend of the ShallowGraveDigger. N\u27TASSY: hangs around the Grecian Street clan, will be pregnant herself one day

Breaking the Criminogenic Code: A Frame Analysis of Neo-Nazi and Violent Jihadi Propaganda

This dissertation focuses on neo-Nazi and violent jihadi propaganda and its role in defining social boundaries. Frame analysis was used to gain a deeper understanding of how neo-Nazis and violent jihadis construct propaganda to neutralize objections and promote drift. Specifically, diagnostic and prognostic frames were analyzed for 10 effective propagandists and two ineffective propagandists in a comparative framework. This research uses a social psychological perspective, paying particular attention to the emotion of shame and advances the violence as communication model into terrorism as criminogenic propaganda. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to analyze how neo-Nazi and violent jihadi propagandists incorporate diagnostic and prognostic frames as techniques of neutralization. Specifically, I analyzed: (1) frame typologies, (2) relationships between frames, (3) location of frames, and (4) frame prevalence. The results provide a better understanding of the link between terrorist propaganda and radicalization and can be used to inform future research and policy decisions

Resilabificación incompleta y acoplamiento gestual ambisilábico en español

In the generative literature, the pattern of coronal fricative lenition found in the traditional Chinato Spanish dialect is commonly cited as a phonological argument that the resyllabification of word-final prevocalic consonants is complete, in the sense that onsets derived by resyllabification are structurally identical to canonical (word-level) onsets. However, recent acoustic studies of Northern-Central Peninsular Spanish have problematized the completeness of resyllabification with experimental evidence that /s̺/ is shorter and more voiced as a derived onset than as a canonical onset. Using a split-gesture, competitive, coupled oscillator model of the syllable in Articulatory Phonology, which divides consonants into a separate constriction and release gesture, we propose a novel representation of ambisyllabicity that predicts the phonetic behavior of derived onset /s̺/ in Northern-Central Peninsular Spanish. We then show that ambisyllabic coupling permits a simpler phonological analysis of coronal fricative lenition in Chinato Spanish as compared to alternative accounts. Our analysis makes typological predictions that are confirmed by patterns from other contemporary Spanish varieties. Lastly, we examine the consequences of ambisyllabicity for the analysis of Spanish rhotic consonants, which have also been argued to support complete resyllabification. We offer an analysis of rhotics that is entirely compatible with an ambisyllabic representation of incomplete resyllabification.

Associations Between Nurse Manager Engagement and Nursing Quality Indicators

Individuals serving in the nurse manager role are critical stakeholders supporting frontline nurses delivering quality care within acute care settings. Despite evidence supporting nurse managers’ contributions to improved quality outcomes for patients by proxy, there is scant evidence supporting direct relationships between the role and outcomes. This study intended to provide quantitative evidence of relationships between nurse managers’ engagement, nurse managers’ tenure, and patient outcomes. The leadership complexity theory classified the nurse manager as a meso-level leader, requiring support from the macro- and microlevels of the organization. Acting as a liaison, meso-level leaders’ function in the space between executive leadership and the frontline. A quantitative correlational analysis was conducted to test two hypotheses answering questions exploring relationships between the variables. Secondary datasets were analyzed and scatterplots indicated linear relationships between all variables. Pearson’s correlations and multiple regression models were conducted and identified mild to moderate relationships between nurse manager engagement (N = 31), nurse manager tenure, and patient outcomes. Based on p-values at the 0.05 alpha level, there was a significant relationship between nurse manager engagement and catheter associated urinary tract infections. This study provides support for increased investment of individuals serving in the nurse manager role, improving the outcomes of patients on their units. These outcomes may positively impact social change by improving the health of the communities served

Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Ligands Inhibit IGF-II and Adipokine Stimulated Breast Cancer Cell Proliferation

Obesity increases human cancer risk and the risk for cancer recurrence. Adipocytes secrete paracrine factors termed adipokines that stimulate signaling in cancer cells that induce proliferation. The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor that plays roles in tumorigenesis, is regulated by exogenous lipophilic chemicals, and has been explored as a therapeutic target for cancer therapy. Whether exogenous AHR ligands modulate adipokine stimulated breast cancer cell proliferation has not been investigated. We provide evidence that adipocytes secrete insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2) at levels that stimulate the proliferation of human estrogen receptor (ER) positive breast cancer cells. Using highly specific AHR ligands and AHR short interfering RNA (AHR-siRNA), we show that specific ligand-activated AHR inhibits adipocyte secretome and IGF-2-stimulated breast cancer cell proliferation. We also report that a highly specific AHR agonist significantly ( \u3c 0.05) inhibits the expression of E2F1, CCND1 (known as Cyclin D1), MYB, SRC, JAK2, and JUND in breast cancer cells. Collectively, these data suggest that drugs that target the AHR may be useful for treating cancer in human obesity

Collections Education: The Extended Specimen and Data Acumen

Biodiversity scientists must be fluent across disciplines; they must possess the quantitative, computational, and data skills necessary for working with large, complex data sets, and they must have foundational skills and content knowledge from ecology, evolution, taxonomy, and systematics. To effectively train the emerging workforce, we must teach science as we conduct science and embrace emerging concepts of data acumen alongside the knowledge, tools, and techniques foundational to organismal biology. We present an open education resource that updates the traditional plant collection exercise to incorporate best practices in twenty-first century collecting and to contextualize the activities that build data acumen. Students exposed to this resource gained skills and content knowledge in plant taxonomy and systematics, as well as a nuanced understanding of collections-based data resources. We discuss the importance of the extended specimen in fostering scientific discovery and reinforcing foundational concepts in biodiversity science, taxonomy, and systematics
