The degradation of watersheds proves the environmental change West Africa is experiencing. It is expressed by the degradation of lowland soils which remains a recurring concern in Sahelian countries such as Burkina Faso. This study analyzes the dynamics of the macrofauna of lowland soils and has the main objective of contributing to the sustainable management of lowlands in the Sudano-Sahelian zone. It was conducted in the Nakanbé-Dem sub-watershed in the Center-North of Burkina Faso. The morphological and chemical parameters of lowland soils were determined by the method of soil prospecting according to the top sequence of the lowland including the glacis, the slope, and the central zone. A spatialized sampling of the soil macrofauna by the TSBF method was carried out to analyze the main explanatory factors of the spatial variability of the macrofauna in the lowlands. The chemical fertility of lowland soils in a plutonic environment is low compared to the average degree of fertility of lowland soils in the middle of the sedimentary volcano complex. The evaluation of the soil macrofauna revealed that the highest diversity indices hardly exceed 2.40 ± 0.09 for Shannon and 1.09 ± 0.02 for Piélou. The most significant proportion of macrofauna is found in depths of more than 20 cm from the ground. The study noted a degraded state of the lowlands whose soils are of low to medium fertility. Restoring the ecosystems of these lowlands requires a correction of the deficit elements if we want to sustainably manage the soils of these lowlands

English Title: Estimate the impact of phosphate diammonium usage on the availability of zinc in a rice producing soil in Mali
The use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture has highly increased this last time in Mali. In fact the regular contribution of DAP can influence the mobility of zinc, because the phosphate fix this element. The object of this study is to estimate the impact of this phosphate fertilizer on the availability of zinc. So for the characterization, the sample is analysed through several physico-chemical methods: the X rays diffraction and the sweeping electronic microscopy. Some absorbing tests have been carried out with five numbered pots (P0, P1, P2, P3, P4) containing each 1 kg of sample to which has been added respectively 0; 2; 4; 8 and 10 g of the fertilizer. Other tests have conducted with 3 g samples removed from the pot P4, to which has been applied respectively 150 ppm, 300 ppm, 450 ppm and 600 ppm of zinc. As a result of the work the quantity of zinc retained is proportional to the one of DAP and the limit (retention in 21 days) = 499.9993 ppm > limit (retention in 15 days) = 499.9991 ppm > limit (retention in 7 days) = 499.9990 ppm > limit (retention in 1 day) = 499.9980 ppm. This study has shown that the phosphate diammonium retains the zinc and influences in this case its bioavailability. Keywords: Rice producing soil, Pana in Mali, zinc retention, the impact of the usage, phosphate diammonium
Challenges and opportunities associated with the introduction of next generation long lasting insecticidal nets for malaria control: a case study from Burkina Faso.
BACKGROUND
Reductions in malaria incidence in Africa can largely be attributed to increases in malaria vector control activities; predominately the use of long lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs). With insecticide resistance affecting an increasing number of malaria endemic countries and threatening the effectiveness of conventional LLINs, there is an increasing urgency to implement alternative tools that control these resistant populations. The aim of this study was to identify potential challenges and opportunities for accelerating access to next generation LLINs in Burkina Faso, a country with areas of high levels of insecticide resistance.
METHODS
An analytical framework was used to guide the selection of interviewees, data collection and analysis. Semi structured interviews were carried out with key informants in April 2014 in Burkina Faso. Interviews were conducted in French and English, audio recorded, transcribed and entered into NVivo10 for data management and analysis. Data were coded according to the framework themes and then analysed to provide a description of the key points and explain patterns in the data.
RESULTS
Interviewees reported that the policy architecture in Burkina Faso is characterised by a strong framework of actors that contribute to policymaking and strong national research capacity which indirectly contributes to national policy change via collaboration with internationally led research. Financing significantly impacts the potential adoption, availability and affordability of next generation LLINs. This confers significant power on international donors that fund vector control. National decisions around which LLINs to procure were restricted to quantity and delivery dates; the potential to tackle insecticide resistance was not part of the decision-making process. Furthermore, at the time of the study there was no World Health Organisation (WHO) guidance on where and when next generation LLINs might positively impact on malaria transmission, severely limiting their adoption, availability and affordability.
CONCLUSIONS
This study shows that access to next generation LLINs was severely compromised by the lack of global guidance. In a country like Burkina Faso where WHO recommendations are relatively quickly adopted, a clear WHO recommendation and adequate financing will be key to accelerate access to next generation LLINs.

FORMULATION OF CONCRETE BASED ON PLANT MATERIALS (CASE OF RICINODENDRON HEUDELOTII: AKPI): OPTIMIZATION OF THE PROPORTION OF SHELLS
The aims of this work is to study the influence of the partial substitution of natural aggregates by the nut shells of Ricinodendron heudelotii known as AKPI, on the physical-mechanical properties of concrete. The substitution rates made are 5%, 10% and 15%. Test results indicate that the presence of Akpi nut shells (ANS) causes increased porosity and reduced compressive strength of concrete. Increasing of porosity and decreasing of strength become important when the quantity of shell increases in concrete. However, the kinetics of hardening at a young age of the concrete is improved from 1% to 7%
