Development, Testing and Qualification of Innovative Low Viscosity Oil In Turbomachinery Applications

In this context, the authors focus the research on a high performance and high efficiency lubricant for Turbomachinery applications. New product has been formulated by a theoretical optimization of power loss reduction limiting the impact on the rotordynamic behavior. The paper reports the entire qualification process of the oil, starting from laboratory tests to certify its chemical properties, then goes through dynamic bearing test rig for the identification of stiffness and damping characteristics to finally present the results of tests on actual machinery (gas turbine, gear box and centrifugal compressor) under real operating conditions in terms of mechanical friction losses, bearing temperatures and rotordynamic behavior

Housing First e redução de danos: uma análise das práticas de redução de danos no projeto “é uma casa” da associação Crescer

A análise que segue tem por objetivo compreender as práticas de redução de danos no projeto “é uma casa” da associação Crescer, situada em Lisboa e fundada por profissionais especializados na área da intervenção comunitária com grupos vulneráveis. O projeto em análise: “é uma casa”, foi desenvolvido segundo a filosofia e metodologia Housing First, onde os beneficiários, pessoas em situação de sem-abrigo crônico, ganham uma moradia além de contarem com uma rede de apoio de profissionais que tem como objetivo a manutenção da casa pelo beneficiário e o zelo pelo seu bem-estar, orientando-os na conquista de seus objetivos pessoais. É importante ressaltar que o projeto não tem como prioridade eliminar as possíveis toxicodependências dos beneficiários. Sendo assim, isso não é um pré-requisito para se obter a casa e nem um obstáculo em sua manutenção. Como dito, nossa análise será focada nas práticas de redução de danos realizadas pelo projeto “é uma casa”. Queremos compreender como essas medidas atuam na prática na vida dos beneficiários que vivem com alguma toxicodependência. Dessa forma buscamos avaliar o que já é feito no projeto em relação à redução de danos, destacando seus pontos positivos como também suas limitações. Para tanto, acompanhamos as visitas aos beneficiários junto à equipa da própria associação Crescer durante 8 meses. Além da própria observação participativa, também conversamos e entrevistamos uma gestora técnica da equipa, uma das coordenadoras do projeto, além de diversos beneficiários que nos contaram suas histórias de vida com riqueza de detalhes. Além disso, fomos mais a fundo e conversamos com Sam Tsemberis, o criador da metodologia Housing First, base do projeto “é uma casa”, a fim de saber melhor suas considerações a respeito das práticas de redução de danos em programas que se propõem a seguir esse método e filosofia. Podemos dizer que o programa alcança seu objetivo e tem um impacto social significativo, mas apesar disso, conseguimos definir algumas sugestões para superar suas pontuais limitações.The following analysis aims to understand the practices of harm reduction in the "é uma casa" project of the Crescer association, located in Lisbon and founded by professionals specialized in community intervention with vulnerable groups. The project under analysis, "é uma casa", was developed according to the Housing First philosophy and methodology, where the beneficiaries, generally people in a chronical homelessness situation, are provided with a house and a support network of professionals whose objective is the maintenance of the house by the beneficiary and the care for their well-being, guiding them in achieving their personal goals. It is important to point out that the project, guided by the Housing First philosophy, does not have as a priority the elimination of possible drug addictions in the beneficiaries. Thus, this is not a prerequisite for obtaining a house, nor an obstacle in its maintenance. As stated, our analysis will focus on the harm reduction (HR) practices carried out by the “é uma casa” project. We want to understand how these measures act in practice in the lives of the beneficiaries who live with some form of drug addiction. In this way, we seek to evaluate what is already done in the project regarding harm reduction, highlighting its positive points as well as its limitations. To this end, we followed the visits to the beneficiaries together with the Crescer association's own team for 8 months. Besides the participative observation itself, we also talked to and interviewed a technical manager of the team, one of the project's coordinators, as well as several beneficiaries who told us their life stories with a wealth of details. Moreover, we went deeper and talked to Sam Tsemberis, the creator of the Housing First methodology, the basis for the "é uma casa" project, in order to learn more about his considerations regarding harm reduction practices in programs that propose to follow this method and philosophy. We can say that the program achieves its goal and has a significant social impact, but despite this, we were able to define some suggestions to overcome its limitations

Prostituição no mundo líquido : por uma análise dos modelos de prostituição e das relações afetivas e sexuais na atualidade

Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (graduação)—Universidade de Brasília, Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Departamento de Sociologia, 2018.A pesquisa em questão busca abordar diferentes meios de prestação de serviço na prostituição feminina, partindo da análise dos meios atuais, mais especificamente a prostituição de pista (usando como referência a W3 Norte, em Brasília) e a prostituição virtual (com foco em sítios, fóruns virtuais e aplicativos de relacionamento). O objetivo é qualificar esses meios de prestação de serviço na prostituição atual, dando foco para suas características contextuais e sociológicas, por meio de análise comparativa entre esses meios e aqueles de diferentes modelos paradigmáticos da prostituição, observando sempre o contraste entre os papéis e funções da afetividade e as relações comerciais em diferentes contextos históricos e socioeconômicos, bem como as estratégias usadas tanto por parte da garota de programa quanto por parte do cliente, na busca de seus respectivos objetivos. A investigação dos modelos de prostituição na atualidade serve para ajudar na compreensão de características mais gerais dos relacionamentos afetivos e sexuais, experimentadas no contexto da chamada modernidade líquida, uma vez que esses modelos estão intimamente relacionados com o modus operandi e a lógica vigente da cultura consumista na sociedade globalizada atual

Forensic population data for 20 STR loci in Argentina

In order to provide useful information of forensic interest for the new markers included in the PowerPlex1 21 System (Promega Corp, USA), namely D1S1656, D6S1043 and D12S391, a population study was conducted in a sample of 907 unrelated healthy individuals from Argentina. Samples were randomly chosen from routine paternity testing. Blood samples or buccal swabs were collected after informed consent, taken from individuals of different urban populations from 7 provinces of Argentina: 464 individuals from a Region 1, including the provinces of Catamarca (N = 27), Córdoba (N = 67), Entre Ríos (N = 24) and Buenos Aires (N = 346), and 443 individuals form a Region 2 including the provinces of Neuquén (N = 134), Chubut (N = 223) and Santa Cruz (N = 86).Fil: Borosky, Alicia. Data analysis of 10 STR loci in a population in the province of Neuquen, Argentina

Abstract Ten Short Tandem Repeat (STR) loci, CSF1PO, TPOX, THO1, D12S1090, D3S1744, D18S849, FGA, D7S820, D1S533 and D9S304, were analyzed in a population geographically located at the foot of the Andes Range in the province of Neuquen, southwestern Argentina. Allele frequencies and paternity and forensic parameters (power of exclusion, matching probability, and power of discrimination) were calculated for all 10 STR loci. The population was analyzed for HardyWeinberg equilibrium (HWE) and allelic and gene frequencies were compared to those observed in the Buenos Aires population. Results indicate that the population was in HWE for these 10 STR loci. Significant differences between allele and genotype frequencies were found for the D7S820 locus (gene and genotypic differentiation test) when compared with data of the Buenos Aires population. These data indicate that the allele frequency estimations can be used to reliably calculate likelihood ratios for paternity and forensic DNA casework.

Conserved Glu-47 and Lys-50 residues are critical for UDP-N-acetylglucosamine/UMP antiport activity of the mouse Golgi-associated transporter Slc35a3

Nucleotide sugar transporters (NSTs) regulate the flux of activated sugars from the cytosol into the lumen of the Golgi apparatus where glycosyltransferases use them for the modification of proteins, lipids, and proteoglycans. It has been well established that NSTs are antiporters that exchange nucleotide sugars with the respective nucleoside monophosphate. Nevertheless, information about the molecular basis of ligand recognition and transport is scarce. Here, using topology predictors, cysteine-scanning mutagenesis, expression of GFP-tagged protein variants, and phenotypic complementation of the yeast strain Kl3, we identified residues involved in the activity of a mouse UDP-GlcNAc transporter, murine solute carrier family 35 member A3 (mSLC35A3). We specifically focused on the putative transmembrane helix 2 (TMH2) and observed that cells expressing E47C or K50C SLC35A3 variants had lower levels of GlcNAc-containing glycoconjugates than WT cells, indicating impaired UDP-GlcNAc transport activity of these two variants. A conservative substitution analysis revealed that single or double substitutions of Glu-47 and Lys-50 does not restore GlcNAc glycoconjugates. Analysis of mSLC35A3 and its genetic variants reconstituted into proteoliposomes disclosed that i) all variants act as UDP-GlcNAc/UMP antiporters; ii) conservative substitutions (E47D, E47Q, K50R or K50H) impair UDP-GlcNAc uptake; and iii) substitutions of Glu-47 and Lys-50 dramatically alter kinetic parameters, consistent with a critical role of these two residues in mSLC35A3 function. A bioinformatics analysis revealed that a EXXK motif in TMH2 is highly conserved across SLC35 A subfamily members, and a 3D-homology model predicted that Glu-47 and Lys-50 are facing the central cavity of the proteinFil: Toscanini, María Agustina.
