La ética psicoanalítica del deseo frente a la moral capitalista del placer / Psychoanalytic ethics of desire against capitalist morality of pleasure
Desde sus inicios, la moral tradicional alienta la búsqueda de un bien universal en conformidad con el placer;
principio que el capitalismo neoliberal publicitará para posicionarse en el imaginario de los sujetos como un
modelo político y económico capaz de procurar placer ilimitado a escala global. Frente a tales aspiraciones,
el psicoanálisis nos interpela acerca de la Ley, el deseo y el placer, al tiempo que postula una ética conforme
a lo real en oposición a la utopía de un goce sin límites. From the beginning, traditional morality encourages the pursuit of a universal good in accordance with
pleasure; principle that neoliberal capitalism advertise for a position in the imagination of the subjects as
a political and economic model capable of seeking global unlimited pleasure. Faced with such aspirations,
psychoanalysis make us wonder about Law, desire and pleasure, while advocating an ethic in concordance
to the real against the utopia of unlimited enjoyment
The origin of interstellar asteroidal objects like 1I/2017 U1 'Oumuamua
We study the origin of the interstellar object 1I/2017 U1 'Oumuamua by
juxtaposing estimates based on the observations with simulations. We speculate
that objects like 'Oumuamua are formed in the debris disc as left over from the
star and planet formation process, and subsequently liberated. The liberation
process is mediated either by interaction with other stars in the parental
star-cluster, by resonant interactions within the planetesimal disc or by the
relatively sudden mass loss when the host star becomes a compact object.
Integrating backward in time in the Galactic potential together with stars from
the Gaia-TGAS catalogue we find that about 1.3Myr ago 'Oumuamua passed the
nearby star HIP 17288 within a mean distance of pc. By comparing nearby
observed L-dwarfs with simulations of the Galaxy we conclude that the
kinematics of 'Oumuamua is consistent with relatively young objects of
--Gyr. We just met 'Oumuamua by chance, and with a derived mean
Galactic density of similarly sized objects within
100\,au from the Sun or per cubic parsec we expect about 2 to 12
such visitors per year within 1au from the Sun.Comment: MNRAS (in press
BANANA IV: Two aligned stellar rotation axes in the young eccentric binary system EP Crucis: primordial orientation and tidal alignment
With observations of the EP Cru system, we continue our series of
measurements of spin-orbit angles in eclipsing binary star systems, the BANANA
project (Binaries Are Not Always Neatly Aligned). We find a close alignment
between the sky projections of the rotational and orbital angular momentum
vectors for both stars (beta_p = -1.8+-1.6 deg and |beta_s|<17 deg). We also
derive precise absolute dimensions and stellar ages for this system. The EP Cru
and DI Her systems provide an interesting comparison: they have similar stellar
types and orbital properties, but DI Her is younger and has major spin-orbit
misalignments, raising the question of whether EP Cru also had a large
misalignment at an earlier phase of evolution. We show that tidal dissipation
is an unlikely explanation for the good alignment observed today, because
realignment happens on the same timescale as spin-orbit synchronization, and
the stars in EP Cru are far from syncrhonization (they are spinning 9 times too
quickly). Therefore it seems that some binaries form with aligned axes, while
other superficially similar binaries are formed with misaligned axes.Comment: ApJ accepted, 10 pages, 7 figure
Human peritoneal mesothelial cell death induced by high-glucose hypertonic solution involves Ca2+ and Na+ ions and oxidative stress with the participation of PKC/NOX2 and PI3K/Akt pathways
Indexación: Web of Science; Scopus.Chronic peritoneal dialysis (PD) therapy is equally efficient as hemodialysis while providing greater patient comfort and mobility. Therefore, PD is the treatment of choice for several types of renal patients. During PD, a high-glucose hyperosmotic (HGH) solution is administered into the peritoneal cavity to generate an osmotic gradient that promotes water and solutes transport from peritoneal blood to the dialysis solution. Unfortunately, PD has been associated with a loss of peritoneal viability and function through the generation of a severe inflammatory state that induces human peritoneal mesothelial cell (HPMC) death. Despite this deleterious effect, the precise molecular mechanism of HPMC death as induced by HGH solutions is far from being understood. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore the pathways involved in HGH solution-induced HPMC death. HGH-induced HPMC death included influxes of intracellular Ca2+ and Na+. Furthermore, HGH-induced HPMC death was inhibited by antioxidant and reducing agents. In line with this, HPMC death was induced solely by increased oxidative stress. In addition to this, the cPKC/NOX2 and PI3K/Akt intracellular signaling pathways also participated in HGH-induced HPMC death. The participation of PI3K/Akt intracellular is in agreement with previously shown in rat PMC apoptosis. These findings contribute toward fully elucidating the underlying molecular mechanism mediating peritoneal mesothelial cell death induced by high-glucose solutions during peritoneal dialysis.https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fphys.2017.00379/ful
The impact of reduction in the benzene limit value in gasoline on airborne benzene, toluene and xylenes levels
Background benzene, toluene, xylenes (BTX) average concentrations have been measured over the urban agglomeration of Toulouse, France, during both springtime and summer periods of 1999 and 2001. The benzene average amount over the two Toulouse campaigns in 1999 is equal to 2.2 Ag/m³, very close to the French air quality standard and well under the average value of 5 Ag/m³ recommended by European Economic Community countries, recognising that those regulations are given for a whole year. BTX pollution over Toulouse has, in particular, been produced by motor vehicle exhaust gases. For the study conducted during the same periods of 2001, benzene concentrations were within the French quality value in the whole area. This is because the benzene limit value contained in gasoline went from 5% to 1%
since 2000 January 1. It will be important to measure benzene over annual periods in order to know its exact values over such a period and to observe its potential seasonal variations
Hall conductivity as a topological invariant
The object of the present work is to study the quantum Hall effect through
its symmetries and topological aspects. We consider the model of an electron
moving in a two-dimensional lattice in the presence of applied in-plain
electric field and perpendicular magnetic field. We refer to this as the two
dimensional electric-magnetic Bloch problem (EMB). The Hall conductivity
quatizations beyond the linear response approximation is analyzed.Comment: 6 page

GREAT/SOFIA atmospheric calibration
The GREAT observations need frequency-selective calibration across the
passband for the residual atmospheric opacity at flight altitude. At these
altitudes the atmospheric opacity has both narrow and broad spectral features.
To determine the atmospheric transmission at high spectral resolution, GREAT
compares the observed atmospheric emission with atmospheric model predictions,
and therefore depends on the validity of the atmospheric models. We discusse
the problems identified in this comparison with respect to the observed data
and the models, and describe the strategy used to calibrate the science data
from GREAT/SOFIA during the first observing periods.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
