Summarized data indicate the prospects of the technology of “protected fats” and their use in animal husbandr

Study of the dynamic structure of the near-lunar orbital space

    Get PDF
The knowledge of the dynamic features of the near-lunar space is necessary for its optimal mastering. This work is devoted to a study of the special features of the dynamics of the artificial Moon satellites (AMS) with intermediate and high orbits in the range of semimajor axes from 2500 to 26000 km

3D-PRINTED BRICKS CAN COOL A ROOM WITH WATER

We've previously seen designers use the presence of swimming pools or take advantage of prevailing winds to help passively cool houses. But what if every brick used to build a house could cool it down? Design studio Emerging Objects has come out with 3D-printed porous bricks called Cool Bricks that can be filled with water to bring down temperatures

Pscroph, a parasitic plant EST database enriched for parasite associated transcripts

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Parasitic plants in the Orobanchaceae develop invasive root haustoria upon contact with host roots or root factors. The development of haustoria can be visually monitored and is rapid, highly synchronous, and strongly dependent on host factor exposure; therefore it provides a tractable system for studying chemical communications between roots of different plants. DESCRIPTION: Triphysaria is a facultative parasitic plant that initiates haustorium development within minutes after contact with host plant roots, root exudates, or purified haustorium-inducing phenolics. In order to identify genes associated with host root identification and early haustorium development, we sequenced suppression subtractive libraries (SSH) enriched for transcripts regulated in Triphysaria roots within five hours of exposure to Arabidopsis roots or the purified haustorium-inducing factor 2,6 dimethoxybenzoquinone. The sequences of over nine thousand ESTs from three SSH libraries and their subsequent assemblies are available at the Pscroph database . The web site also provides BLAST functions and allows keyword searches of functional annotations. CONCLUSION: Libraries prepared from Triphysaria roots treated with host roots or haustorium inducing factors were enriched for transcripts predicted to function in stress responses, electron transport or protein metabolism. In addition to parasitic plant investigations, the Pscroph database provides a useful resource for investigations in rhizosphere interactions, chemical signaling between organisms, and plant development and evolution

The article is devoted to the problem of forming the reading competence of younger schoolchildren in literary reading classes. The relationship between the concepts of “competence” and “competence” is analyzed, identifies, on the one hand, the similarity of the constituent components of these concepts, which is realized in the inclusion of such basic elements as abilities, knowledge, skills, skills, on the other hand, their distinction due to the experience gained in certain activities. The relationship between the concepts of “reader competence” and “reader's competence” is analyzed. The structure of reading competence is described, which includes the following components: motivational, emotional value, cognitive and activity. Some aspects of the formation of reading competence of younger students in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Primary General Education are investigated. The factors that complicate the formation of the foundations of the reading competence of younger schoolchildren, such as the variability of the content components of the GEF NOU, the consequences of changing the basic educational guidelines, the impact of the school system of certification in our country are identified

Early physiological response of potato plants to entomopathogenic fungi under hydroponic conditions

    Get PDF
Endophytic entomopathogenic fungi are promising agents for the promotion of plant growth, the activation of immunity, and protection against phytopathogens. However, physiological changes in plants after treatment with fungi are insufficiently studied. We investigated the effect of potato inoculation with conidia from Metarhizium robertsii and Beauveria bassiana on the growth (fresh and dry weight, length of shoots and roots, counts of stolons and leaves, and total surface area of leaves) and physiological parameters (pigment contents, free proline and malondialdehyde content, and activity of antioxidant enzymes) at the initial stage of the plant–fungus interaction (seven days) under hydroponic conditions. The results showed that the fungi could act as an immune-modulating factor for plants based on the increase in malondialdehyde and proline contents. At the same time, we observed growth retardation and a decrease in the content of photosynthetic pigments, which may be caused by a tradeoff between plant growth and the immune response
