Fermionic Dark Matter in Radiative Inverse Seesaw Model with U(1)_{B-L}
We construct a radiative inverse seesaw model with local B-L symmetry, and
investigate the flavor structure of the lepton sector and the fermionic Dark
Matter. Neutrino masses are radiatively generated through a kind of inverse
seesaw framework. The PMNS matrix is derived from each mixing matrix of the
neutrino and charged lepton sector with large Dirac CP phase. We show that the
annihilation processes via the interactions with Higgses which are independent
on the lepton flavor violation, have to be dominant in order to satisfy the
observed relic abundance by WMAP. The new interactions with Higgses allow us to
be consistent with the direct detection result reported by XENON100, and it is
possible to verify the model by the exposure of XENON100 (2012).Comment: 15 pages, 1 table, 5 figures; version accepted for publication in

X.509 certificate error testing
X.509 Certificates are used by a wide range of technologies to verify identities, while the SSL protocol is used to provide a secure encrypted tunnel through which data can be sent over a public network. Combined both of these technologies provides the basis of the public key infrastructure (PKI). While the concept of PKI is a good idea, the different implementation of the technologies in different operating system and clients often lead to weaknesses. This paper proposes a methodology to automate the testing of SSL clients by generating both bogus and malformed certificates in order to evaluate the client’s response and identify potential threats to network infrastructures
Investigating The Role of AEG-1 in Mouse Models of Pain
Background: Astrocyte Elevated Gene 1 (AEG-1) is a multifunctional protein shown to be a regulator of transcription and multiple intracellular signaling pathways. The role of AEG-1 in cellular inflammation appears to be primarily facilitated by its direct interaction with the transcription factor NFÎşB, transcriptional regulator of inflammatory cytokines. May be have a potential role in models of pain, particularly chronic inflammatory and chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Methods: C57BL6/J male and female mice, 8-14 weeks old. AEG-1 wild type (WT) and global knockout (KO) male and female mice, 8-14 weeks old. Chronic Inflammatory Pain induced via i.pl. injection of 50% Freund\u27s Complete Adjuvant (CFA) or vehicle into mouse right hind paw. CIPN induced via four 8 mg/kg, i.p. injections of Paclitaxel or vehicle (Toma, et. al). Mechanical hypersensitivity assessed via von frey filaments. Acetone Test was used to assess cold sensitivity. mRNA transcripts collected from tissues were measured via qRT-PCR. Results: AEG-1 KO mice displayed protection from CFA induced mechanical hypersensitivity, thermal sensitivity, and reduces paw edema compare to WT mice. AEG-1 KO mice displayed enhanced recovery from paclitaxel induced mechanical hypersensitivity and cold sensitivity compared to WT mice. AEG-1 expression levels in the periaqueductal grey, spinal cord, and L4-6 corresponding dorsal root ganglia collected from C57BL6/J mice treated with 8mg/Kg paclitaxel or 50% CFA (3 days post injection) showed no difference from control groups. Conclusions: Our data suggest that AEG-1 may be involved in inflammatory and CIPN related nociception in C57BL6/J mice.https://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/gradposters/1093/thumbnail.jp
ENT Educational Patient Bedside Tool
Early educational and discharge preparations are an advantage to patients, the interdisciplinary team, and hospital. It was determined that lack in communication and coordination among staff members led to inadequate patient teaching, therefore an educational tool that is kept at the bedside may facilitate accountability and smoother transition to home.
The aim of the project is to improve the education of patients with tracheostomies and laryngectomies, and enhance staff communication and coordination by December 2014.
Analysis methods used included Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), fishbone diagram, process map, and SWOT analysis. The social learning theory is the framework chosen for this improvement process.
In December 2013, an FMEA was conducted, and beginning in mid-April of this year, the concept was introduced in the huddle meetings; a survey was launched to assess the necessity of this tool at the bedside. The project was implemented at the beginning of June.
Although more data is still needed to determine if this tool had an impact to the readmission rates of this specific population in the microsystem, overall positive results were noted in regards to patients’ and families’ education and readiness for discharge. The discharge process for these patients was significantly shortened. Less anxiety from patients was noted by the clinical staff involved in their care, with the patient education process reportedly being improved

Reconciliation of CDM abundance and in a radiative seesaw model
We reexamine relic abundance of a singlet fermion as a CDM candidate, which
contributes to the neutrino mass generation through radiative seesaw mechanism.
We search solutions for Yukawa couplings and the mass spectrum of relevant
fields to explain neutrino oscillation data. For such solutions, we show that
an abundance of a lightest singlet fermion can be consistent with WMAP data
without conflicting with both bounds of and . This reconciliation does not need any modification of the original
radiative seesaw model other than by specifying flavor structure of Yukawa
