    Organization's quality maturity as a vehicle for EHR success

    In health care industry, EHR has been advocated to improve care quality. The journey toward the development and adaptation of EHR should be holistic and integrate all the EHR's building blocks-health record management, business process improvement (BPI), collaboration and innovation, change management, user governance, etc.-that are intertwined together as like the links of a chain to improve quality of health care services. These cornerstones that shares common features with quality principles will pave the way for implementing EHR. To go along with quality features and take advantage of quality principles namely "quality maturity" builds a solid foundation for adaptation of EHR. Therefore, the recent theories of EHR success go far beyond technical rationales and focus on organizational and managerial factors in quality improvement. The milestone of quality concept in information system success is revealed in Delone and Mclean's model which launches system quality, information quality, service quality, as distinct elements of the IS success. EHR is a means to an end -to improve quality within enterprises- based on quality approaches. In this regards, more research should be conducted to investigate the relationship between of organization's quality maturity and EHR development success. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2010

    Inhibitory Control Across the Preschool Years: Developmental Changes and Associations with Parenting

    The normative developmental course of inhibitory control between 2.5 and 6.5 years, and associations with maternal and paternal sensitivity and intrusiveness were tested. The sample consisted of 383 children (52.5% boys). During four annual waves, mothers and fathers reported on their children’s inhibitory control using the Children\u27s Behavior Questionnaire. During the first wave, mothers’ and fathers’ sensitivity and intrusiveness were observed and coded with the Emotional Availability Scales. Inhibitory control exhibited partial scalar invariance over time, and increased in a decelerating rate. For both mothers and fathers, higher levels of sensitivity were associated with a higher initial level of children\u27s inhibitory control, whereas higher levels of intrusiveness predicted a slower increase in children\u27s inhibitory control

    A numerical study of fractional relaxation–oscillation equations involving ψ-Caputo fractional derivative

    We provide a numerical method to solve a certain class of fractional differential equations involving ψ -Caputo fractional derivative. The considered class includes as particular case fractional relaxation–oscillation equations. Our approach is based on operational matrix of fractional integration of a new type of orthogonal polynomials. More precisely, we introduce ψ -shifted Legendre polynomial basis, and we derive an explicit formula for the ψ -fractional integral of ψ -shifted Legendre polynomials. Next, via an orthogonal projection on this polynomial basis, the problem is reduced to an algebraic equation that can be easily solved. The convergence of the method is justified rigorously and confirmed by some numerical experiments.publishe

    Triple Electroweak Gauge-Boson Production at Fermilab Tevatron Energies

    We calculate the three gauge-boson production in the Standard Model at Fermilab Tevatron energies. At s=2\sqrt s=2 TeV in ppˉp\bar p collisions, the cross sections for the triple gauge-boson production are typically of order 10 femtobarns (fb). For the pure leptonic final states from the gauge-boson decays and with some minimal cuts on final state photons, the cross sections for ppˉW±γγ,Zγγp \bar p \rightarrow W^\pm \gamma\gamma, Z\gamma\gamma and W+WγW^+W^- \gamma processes are of order a few fb, resulting in a few dozen clean leptonic events for an integrated luminosity of 10 fb1^{-1}. The pure leptonic modes from other gauge-boson channels give significantly smaller rate. Especially, the trilepton modes from W+WW±W^+W^-W^\pm and ttˉW±W+WW±t \bar t W^\pm \rightarrow W^+W^-W^\pm yield a cross section of order 0.1 fb if there is no significant Higgs boson contribution. For a Higgs boson with mH2MZm_H^{} \simeq 2M_Z^{}, the triple massive-gauge-boson production rate could be enhanced by a factor of 464-6.Comment: RevTeX 3.0; 14 pages plus 7 figures; ps files available via anonymous ftp at ftp://ucdhep.ucdavis.edu/han/vvv/vvv.ps,fig*_vvv.p

    An assessment of implementation and evaluation phases of strategic plans in Iranian hospitals

    Objectives: To assess the implementation and evaluation phases of strategic plans in selected hospitals. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of implementation and evaluation of strategic plan in 24 hospitals in 2015, using a questionnaire which consisted of two separate sections for strategic implementation and strategic evaluation. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 18. Results: Nearly one-third of hospitals claimed that they allocate their budget based on priorities and strategic goals. However, it turned out that although goals had been set, no formal announcements had been made. Most of the hospitals stated that they used measures when evaluating the plan. For hospital staff, clarifying the hospital's priorities was the most important advantage of a strategic plan. Conclusion: There is no clear definition for strategic management in Iranian hospitals, which results in chaotic implementation and control of strategic planning

    Determination of cardiac glycosides and total phenols in different generations of Securigera securidaca suspension culture

    Background and objectives: The seeds of Securigera securidaca (L.) Deg. & Dorf. (Fabaceae) are used as anti-diabetic remedy in Iranian folk medicine. The aim of the present study was to establish the callus and suspension culture of S. securidaca seeds for the first time and to determine the major secondary metabolites including cardiac glycosides and total phenols. Methods: The culture of S. securidaca from seeds was initiated in hormone-supplemented MS medium containing 1 and 0.1 ppm 2, 4-D solution for solid and suspension cultures, respectively, sucrose and vitamins (B1, B2, B6, Folic acid, Biotin, Nicotinamide and Ca pantothenate) at 25 °C and 12 h photoperiods. The cardiac glycosides were determined based on the calibration curve of securidaside which was isolated from the seeds extract of S. securidaca. Total phenolic compounds of different generations of suspension culture were determined using Folin Ciocalteu reagent. Results: Callus culture of S. securidaca was grown light cream to pale yellow in color and soft in texture while the cells of suspension culture grew cream to yellow with isolated cells and small aggregates.     Potent anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of methanol fraction of Otostegia persica extract and its components

    Background and objectives: Otostegia persica (Labiatae) is an endemic plant of Iran and is used for its anti-inflammatory properties in folk medicine of Sistan and Baluchestan province. The aim of the present study was to investigate the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects of O. Persica different fractions and identification of the natural compounds from the most active fraction. Methods: Total extract of O. Persica was fractionated with petroleum ether (PE), chloroform (CL), ethyl acetate (EA), n-butanol (BU) and methanol (ME). The analgesic activities of different fractions were determined by formalin test. Then, activity of effective fractions was investigated on carrageenan-induced paw edema assay. Finally, the compounds of effective fraction were isolated and their structures were elucidated. Results: Anti-nociceptive activity of EA and BU fractions (100 mg/kg) and ME fraction (100 and 200 mg/kg) demonstrated significant difference with normal saline during the second phase of the formalin test. ME fraction showed higher analgesic effects in comparison to indomethacin (p0.05). Vicenin-2 and isorhamnetin-3-O-glucoside were elucidated from ME as the effective anti-inflammatory fraction. Conclusion: It was concluded that the existence of flavonoids in O. persica extract could play an important role for its anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects similar to various non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and inhibitors of nitric oxide synthase (NOS)
