Las competencias docentes para incorporar las tecnologías en la enseñanza de la matemática

En la actualidad el acceso, desarrollo y disponibilidad de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) ha facilitado a la humanidad que ésta disponga de una gran herramienta para sus necesidades sociales, comunicativas, educativas, entre otras. Lo que ha obligado a las instituciones de educación superior repensar su papel y promover nuevos modelos educativos apoyándose en las tecnologías. Así mismo, un organismo como la UNESCO desde 1998 ha tenido como línea estratégica la incorporación de las tecnologías en los sistemas educativos para propiciar la innovación y experimentación pedagógica. Ahora bien, las características y potencialidad de las tecnologías ha generado que, desde grupos de docentes investigadores hasta espacios como congresos y asociaciones de profesores como la NCTM (Consejo Nacional de Profesores de Matemática de Estados Unidos), se impulse la incorporación de las TIC en la enseñanza de la matemática de manera tal de crear nuevas formas de acercamiento al conocimiento matemático, así como también, favorecer en el estudiante nuevos dominios de la misma. Lo planteado anteriormente reviste de gran importancia ya que sugiere contar con docentes altamente motivados y capacitados para incorporar las tecnologías para el aprovechamiento de la matemática. Es decir, profesores capacitados para la toma de decisión de cómo, cuándo, para qué y en qué momento usar las tecnologías. Es por eso que se propone indagar sobre las competencias didácticas para incorporar las TIC en la enseñanza de la matemática de los docentes de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Sociales de la Universidad de Carabobo (FaCES – UC)

Environmental Sustainability and the Hospitality Customer Experience: A Study in Tourist Accommodation

Academic research on sustainability in the hospitality industry is scarce and fragmented, and requires a general structure to lend coherence to its approach. There is a need for empirical research to fathom the question of environmental sustainability and customer experience in the hospitality industry and to study the interaction between the two concepts. This paper aims to close these gaps by establishing the nature of the relationship between customers’ perceptions of the environmental practices in tourism accommodation and their customer experiences and levels of satisfaction. The working hypotheses, based on a review of the literature on environmental sustainability and customer experience in the hospitality industry, are tested in an empirical study of 412 Spanish customers who stayed in various types of tourist accommodation. The main conclusion is that the relationship between environmental sustainability and customer experience in the hospitality industry can be demonstrated. This paper also validates a measurement scale based on the most accepted dimensionality of the construct: cognitive (think), affective (feel), behavioral (act), sensory (sense) and social (relate)

Identification of the donor in GRS 1915+105

We report on the results of medium-resolution spectroscopy of GRS 1915+105 in the H and K band using the 8m VLT at ESO. We clearly identify absorption bandheads from CO12 and CO13. Together with other features this results in a classification of the donor as a K-M III star.Comment: 4 pages, Kluwer style, to appear in Astrophys. Space Sci. The GRB 030328 host: another case of a blue starburst galaxy

We present for the first time the detection of the GRB 030328 host galaxy in four optical bands equivalent to UBRI. The host galaxy spectral energy distribution is consistent with a low extinction (E(B-V) < 0.21) starburst galaxy.
