    Meta-analysis of the association between dietary inflammatory index and cognitive health

    BackgroundSome studies have shown that a pro-inflammatory diet may be associated with cognitive function, but their conclusions have varied considerably. We here present a meta-analysis of the current published literature on DII score and its association with cognitive health.MethodsIn this meta-analysis, the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases were searched in September 2022. The reported indexes, specifically OR, RR, and β, were extracted and analyzed using R version 3.1.0.ResultsA total of 636 studies in databases were identified, and 12 were included in the meta-analysis. Higher DII was associated with an increased risk of AD and MCI (OR = 1.34; 95% CI = 1.21–1.49). Meanwhile, it may also cause global function impairment (categorical: OR = 1.63; 95% CI = 1.36–1.96) and verbal fluency impairment (continuous: OR = 0.18; 95% IC = 0.08–0.42). But there was no significant association between DII and executive function (categorical: OR = 1.12; 95% IC = 0.84–1.49; continuous: OR = 0.48; 95% IC = 0.19–1.21) or episodic memory (continuous: OR = 0.56; 95% IC = 0.30–1.03).ConclusionA pro-inflammatory diet is related to AD, MCI, and the functions of some cognitive domains (specifically global function and verbal fluency). However, the current evidence on the role of diet-induced inflammation in different cognitive domains should be supported by further studies in the future

    Geochemical Characteristics and Development Model of the Coal-Measure Source Rock in the Kuqa Depression of Tarim Basin

    The development model of the coal-measure source rock may be different from that of the lacustrine source rock. The depositional environment of the coal-measure source rock is dominated by weak oxidation and weak reduction, and the majority of the organic material originates from terrestrial higher plants. Taking the Jurassic coal-measure source rock in the Kuqa Depression as the research object, the geochemical characteristics of the source rock are comprehensively analyzed, the primary controlling elements of source rock development are made clear, and the development model of the coal-measure source rock is established. This study contributes to the field of source rock prediction and oil and gas exploration. The lithology of the coal-measure source rock in the Kuqa Depression is mainly mudstone, carbonaceous mudstone, and coal, which are medium- to good-quality source rocks, and the organic matter type is mainly II2 and III. Terrestrial organic matter is a key factor in controlling the formation of coal-measure source rocks, and the sedimentation rate also has a certain influence. The redox degree of the depositional environment, water salinity, and clay mineral content has little influence on the development of coal-measure source rocks. By integrating the main control factors, the development model of the coal-measure source rock is established. It is considered that the development model and distribution characteristics of the coal-measure source rock are different from the traditional understanding of lacustrine source rocks, and it is pointed out that the coal-measure source rock in the gentle slope zone is more developed than the sag area

    Petroleum Geology and Exploration of Deep-Seated Volcanic Condensate Gas Reservoir around the Penyijingxi Sag in the Junggar Basin

    Many types of volcanic rock oil and gas reservoirs have been found in China, showing great petroleum exploration potential. Volcanic reservoir also is one of the key fields of exploration in the Junggar Basin and mainly concentrated in the middle and shallow layers, while the deep volcanic rock and natural gas fields have not been broken through. Based on comprehensive analysis of core observation, single well analysis, reservoir description, source rocks evaluation, combined with seismic data and time-frequency electromagnetic technology, multiple volcanic rock exploration targets were identified, and industrial oil and gas flow was obtained in the well SX 16 of the Penyijingxi Sag, western Junggar Basin. It is believed that the deep Permian source rocks have relatively higher natural gas generation potential and volcanic breccia usually have large reservoir space. And the mudstone of the Upper Wuerhe Formation played as the role of caprock. The success of exploration well SX16 has achieved a major breakthrough in natural gas exploration in the Penyijingxi Sag, which has essential guiding significance for the exploration of deep volcanic rocks and large-scale gas exploration in the Junggar Basin

    Geochemical Characteristics and Depositional Environment of Coal-Measure Hydrocarbon Source Rocks in the Northern Tectonic Belt, Kuqa Depression

    A total of 21 samples were selected from a total of Jurassic coal-measure source rocks in the northern structural belt of the Kuqa Depression, in the Tarim Basin. By using a carbon-sulfur content analyzer, Rock Eval 7 rock pyrology instrument and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS), the abundance, type, depositional environment, and source of organic matter are confirmed. The factors that control the development of coal-measure hydrocarbon source rocks are analyzed. The pyrolysis parameters of rocks, such as total organic carbon (TOC), hydrocarbon generating potential (S1 + S2), hydrogen index (HI) and the highest pyrolysis peak temperature (Tmax), show that good to excellent coal-measure source rocks constitute the majority, and the types of organic matter are predominantly type III and occasionally type II. Low S/C ratio, high Pr/Ph value, and high C29 regular sterane levels suggest that the environment in which the coal-measure source rocks were deposited was oxidative, and the majority of the organic matter comes from higher terrestrial plants. In addition, the cross plot of isoprenoids with n-alkanes and the triangle diagrams of regular sterane also show that the primary source of organic matters in coal-measure source rocks is terrestrial higher plants. Because the shallow and turbulent water body is not easily stratified, the gammacerane content is low, which reflects the characteristics of low salinity. Combined with the cross plots of isoprenoids, it might be demonstrated that the freshwater environment is where the coal-measure source rocks were deposited. Comprehensive analysis shows that the oxidational and freshwater depositional environment is favorable to coal-measure source rock development

    Effects of Perilla Seed Meal on Productive Performance, Egg Quality, Antioxidant Capacity and Hepatic Lipid Metabolism of Wenchang Breeder Hens

    The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of adding perilla seed meal (PSM) to the diet on reproductive performance, egg quality, yolk fatty acids, antioxidant capacity and liver lipid metabolism in breeding hens. A total of 192 31-week-old yellow-feathered hens were randomly divided into 4 treatments with 6 replicates of 8 birds for 8 weeks. The chickens were fed a typical corn–soybean meal diet containing 0% (control), 0.3%, 0.6%, and 1% PSM. The results showed that PSM can change the productivity of laying hens. Adding 0.6% PSM to the feed reduced the mortality rate of chickens. Adding 1% PSM improved the fertilization rate and hatching rate of chickens. Regarding egg quality, the albumen height and Haugh unit were improved in the 0.6% PSM group. The content of MUFAs and PUFAs in the egg yolk was increased in all the PSM groups, while SFAs were only increased in the 0.6% PSM group. Among the indicators related to lipid metabolism, serum GLU decreased in all the PSM groups. The 0.6% PSM group had a reduction in serum and liver TG, as well as reductions in serum LDL-C and ALT. The same results were observed for the abdominal fat percentage in the 0.6% PSM group. Liver lipid metabolism-associated gene expression of FAS and LXRα was decreased in all the PSM groups, and the mRNA expression of ACC and SREBP-1c was significantly reduced in the 0.6% PSM group. HE staining showed that the vacuoles in the liver tissue gradually decreased with increasing PSM doses, especially the 1% PSM dose. Lipid droplets with a similar trend were observed using Oil Red O staining. In the results of the antioxidant capacity test, the serum T-AOC was increased in the 0.6% and 1% PSM groups, and the SOD in both the serum and liver was significantly increased in all the PSM groups. The expression of antioxidant-related genes such as Nrf2, NQO-1, HO-1, CAT and GSH-Px was significantly upregulated in the 1% PSM group. In conclusion, the PSM diet improved the lipid metabolism and antioxidant capacity of breeding hens. PSM reduces mortality and improves fertilization and hatchability in the late laying period of chickens, resulting in greater benefits. We recommend adding 0.6% PSM to layer feed, which improves the physical condition of the hens and brings higher economic benefits

    HDAC3 Knockdown Dysregulates Juvenile Hormone and Apoptosis-Related Genes in Helicoverpa armigera

    Insect development requires genes to be expressed in strict spatiotemporal order. The dynamic regulation of genes involved in insect development is partly orchestrated by the histone acetylation–deacetylation via histone acetyltransferases (HATs) and histone deacetylases (HDACs). Although histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) is required for mice during early embryonic development, its functions in Helicoverpa armigera (H. armigera) and its potential to be used as a target of insecticides remain unclear. We treated H. armigera with HDAC3 siRNA and RGFP966, a specific inhibitor, examining how the HDAC3 loss-of-function affects growth and development. HDAC3 siRNA and RGFP966 treatment increased mortality at each growth stage and altered metamorphosis, hampering pupation and causing abnormal wing development, reduced egg production, and reduced hatching rate. We believe that the misregulation of key hormone-related genes leads to abnormal pupa development in HDAC3 knockout insects. RNA-seq analysis identified 2788 differentially expressed genes (≥two-fold change; p ≤ 0.05) between siHDAC3- and siNC-treated larvae. Krüppel homolog 1 (Kr-h1), was differentially expressed in HDAC3 knockdown larvae. Pathway-enrichment analysis revealed the significant enrichment of genes involved in the Hippo, MAPK, and Wnt signaling pathways following HDAC3 knockdown. Histone H3K9 acetylation was increased in H. armigera after siHDAC3 treatment. In conclusion, HDAC3 knockdown dysregulated juvenile hormone (JH)-related and apoptosis-related genes in H. armigera. The results showed that the HDAC3 gene is a potential target for fighting H. armigera
