This study assessed the effectiveness of the application of the Matrix model in patients undergoing methadone treatment for Amphetamine-type substance (ATS) in Ho Chi Minh City. A total of 951 methadone patients were screened; 60 (16%) met the inclusion criteria and of those 51 (85%) completed 16 weeks of study procedures. Most of the participants were ATS users with moderate or higher risk of dependence. Compared to the non-intervention group, the intervention group showed a significant reduction in positive urine tests for methamphetamine (a decrease from 100% to 11% vs. a decrease from 100% to 98% for the non-intervention group, p<0.001) and for opiates (a decrease from 36.7% to 3.7% vs. a decrease from 43.3% to 29.2% for the non-intervention group). In the intervention group, the quality of life increased from 76.74 points to 85.5, the proportion of depression decreased from 43.3% to 18.5%, anxiety decreased from 30% to 11.1%, and stress decreased from 76.7% to 29.6%. In the non-intervention group, quality of life decreased from 75.2 points to 74.5 points, the proportion of depression decreased slightly from 40% to 36%, anxiety decreased from 33.3% to 24%, and stress decreased from 76.7% to 76.0%. The intervention group was significantly more likely to adhere to methadone treatment (p<0.001). The proportions of participants in the intervention group and non-intervention group who discontinued treatment were 10% and 20%, respectively. The study results suggested that the MATRIX model could help reduce ATS and opiate use and improve mental health as well as treatment adherence

Research on Factors Affecting Credit Risk of Joint Stock Commercial Banks on Vietnam Stock Market

    Get PDF
Design/methodology/approach: The article aims at identifying factors affecting credit risk of commercial banks in Vietnam. The study uses data collected from financial statements of 15 typical joint stock commercial banks out of a total of 27 joint stock commercial banks listed on the Vietnam stock exchange from 2012 to 2022 with panel data of 15 joint stock commercial banks for the period 2012 - 2022. The banks in the research data are the those with the largest total assets in the banking system. After collecting and processing data, research sample includes 165 observations and the study uses E-view software in quantitative analysis to build a regression model to determine the relationship and level of influence of Internal factors to credit risk of listed joint stock commercial banks.   Findings: Research results indicate that factors affecting credit risk of listed joint stock commercial banks include: Ratio of equity to total assets, capital structure of the bank, and operational performance of the banks.   Research, Practical & Social impications: These results confirm the importance of taking into account micro finance factors when making financing. Understanding the impact of these factors and relationships contributes to decision and risk management.   Originality/value: In order to limit credit risk it is necessary to focus on: Ensuring reasonable equity; Stricter control over loan capital; Optimal use of resources

Advanced Method for Motion Control of a 3 DOFs Lower Limb Rehabilitation Robot

    Get PDF
This paper presents two motion control methods for a lower limb rehabilitation robot based on compensate gravity proportional-derivative and inverse dynamic proportional-derivative (PD) control algorithms. The Robot’s mechanism is comprised of three active joints: hip joint, knee joint and ankle joint, which are driven by DC motors. Firstly, based on Robot’s mechanism, a dynamic model of the Robot is built. Then, based on Robot’s model, motion control systems for Robot are designed. Simulation results show good performances and workability of these proposed controllers. Finally, the calculation of the joint angle errors and toque of each controller is performed. The comparison of simulation results between proposed controllers and the adaptive fuzzy controller allows to choice suitable motion control methods for Robot that can meet the requirements of a 3 DOFs lower limb rehabilitation robot for post-stroke patient

“I can't get it out of my mind” - Why, how, and when crisis rumination leads entrepreneurs to act and pivot during crises

    Get PDF
Why do some entrepreneurs pivot their business models in a crisis, while others are more passive? Integrating Conservation of Resources theory with work on crisis rumination, we developed a micro-level model to explain why entrepreneurs who are under strain due to a crisis, as indicated by experiencing crisis rumination, adopt an active approach – i.e., using active coping and engaging in pivoting. Moreover, prevention-focused entrepreneurs who are habitually more sensitive to losses are especially stimulated by crisis rumination to pivot to prevent (further) resource losses. We tested our model in an experiment and an eight-month longitudinal study with entrepreneurs during an inflation crisis

Hydrodynamic Simulations of Circumstellar Envelopes under the Gravitational Influence of a Wide Binary Companion: Comparison Between Circular and Elliptical Orbits

    Get PDF
Shapes of circumstellar envelopes around mass losing stars contain information of the very inner region of the envelope where mass loss process takes place. It’s well known that the presence of a binary companion leads to strong influence on the structure of the envelope through orbital motion of the mass losing star and the gravitational interaction of the companion with the stellar wind. To investigate this effect and structures of envelopes, we have performed high resolution hydrodynamic simulations of a wide binary system in a number of orbital configurations. Our simulations clearly show the importance of the equation of state of the gas because in isothermal case the width of the spiral arm is significantly broadened with respect to the ideal gas case, therefore resulting in unrealistic spiral patterns. As the orbital geometry changes from circular to elliptical, our simulation results show that the spiral becomes bifurcated and increasingly asymmetric as indicated in previously published results. In the polar direction, the prominent alternating arcs associated with circular orbital configuration morph into almost continuous circular rings. The physical condition of the gas in the envelope is shown to vary strongly between the spiral arm and inter-arm regions. Our hydrodynamic simulations will be useful to interpret high angular resolution observations of circumstellar envelopes

Characteristics of shear strength at the interface between two soil layers in ring shear apparatus

The slopes containing discontinuous planes such as bedding planes, rupture, or boundary between two soil layers are often prone to sliding. Thus, the characteristics of shear strength mobilized along the discontinuous planes should be examined. In this study, the shear strength at the interface between two different soil layers will be investigated based on ring shear test. The combined sample comprising of one kaolin layer and one kaolin + bentonite mixture layer was used to simulate the discontinuous planes between two soil layers. A number of ring shear tests were conducted on these samples at a normal stress of 98 kPa and shear rates from 0.02 to 20 mm/min using a multi-stage of shearing rates procedure. The research results indicate that the shear strength at the interface sharply increases to reach the peak value after a small shear displacement, then drops to the residual value. The residual interface strength tends to increase with increasing shear rates above 2 mm/min and the level of increase in residual interface strength depends on the contact surface. Furthermore, the effect of the order sample layer in combined samples can be ignored when determining the peak, the residual interface strengths as well as the rate effect on residual interface strength in the laboratory
