    Sistem Penilaian Kinerja Pegawai dengan Metode Analytical Hierarchy Process (Ahp) (Studi Kasus pada Kantor Stasiun Meteorologi El Tari Kupang)

    Penilaian prestasi kinerja adalah suatu proses penilaian yang dilakukan pemimpin Perusahaan secara sistematik berdasarkan pekerjaan yang ditugaskan kepada pegawainya. Stasiun Meteorologi El Tari Kupang merupakan salah satu instansi pemerintahan yang menerapkan penilaian kinerja pegawai untuk tujuan promosi jabatan ataupun pemilihan pegawai berprestasi. Untuk membantu Kepala Stasiun Meteorologi El Tari Kupang dalam proses penilaian kinerja pegawai maka sangat penting dibangun sebuah sistem penilaian kinerja. Penerapan Sistem Pendukung Keputusan (SPK) terkomputerisasi yang mampu membantu proses penilaian kinerja pegawai. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) untuk penilaian prestasi kerja pegawai. Sistem yang dibangun berbasis web dan menggunakan kriteria penilaian pegawai meliputi kedisiplinan, prestasi kerja, tanggung jawab dan kompetensi bidang. Hasil analisis yang didapat mampu memberikan urutan rangking terbaik, sehingga menghasilkan kriteria dengan bobot tertinggi yang dapat digunakan sebagai pertimbangan dalam pengambilan keputusan. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi sistem penilaian kinerja pegawai Stasiun Meteorologi El Tari Kupang dengan metode Analytical Hierarchy Proccess dapat berfungsi dengan baik. Hasil perbandingan nilai akhir antara perhitungan sistem dengan perhitungan metode AHP secara manual memiliki nilai yang sama. Hasil perbandingan perangkingan antara sistem dengan data penilaian manual Kantor Stasiun Meteorologi El Tari Kupang mempunyai persamaan urutan perangkingan sebanyak 9 dari 16 pegawai

    A Semantic Portal for the International Affairs Sector

    The Royal Institute Elcano(dagger) (Real Instituto Elcano) in Spain is a prestigious independent political institute whose mission is to comment on the political situation in the world focusing on its relation to Spain. As part of its dissemination strategy it operates a public website. The online content can be accessed by navigating through categories or by a keyword-based, full text search engine. The work described in this paper aims at improving access to the content. We describe an approach, tools and techniques that allow building a semantic portal, where access is based on the meaning of concepts and relations of the International Affairs domain. The approach comprises an automatic ontology-based annotator, a semantic search engine with a natural language inter-face, a web publication tool allowing semantic navigation, and a 3D visualization component.     Alternative Splicing Changes Promoted by NOVA2 Upregulation in Endothelial Cells and Relevance for Gastric Cancer

    Angiogenesis is crucial for cancer progression. While several anti-angiogenic drugs are in use for cancer treatment, their clinical benefits are unsatisfactory. Thus, a deeper understanding of the mechanisms sustaining cancer vessel growth is fundamental to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Alternative splicing (AS) is an essential modifier of human proteome diversity. Nevertheless, AS contribution to tumor vasculature development is poorly known. The Neuro-Oncological Ventral Antigen 2 (NOVA2) is a critical AS regulator of angiogenesis and vascular development. NOVA2 is upregulated in tumor endothelial cells (ECs) of different cancers, thus representing a potential driver of tumor blood vessel aberrancies. Here, we identified novel AS transcripts generated upon NOVA2 upregulation in ECs, suggesting a pervasive role of NOVA2 in vascular biology. In addition, we report that NOVA2 is also upregulated in ECs of gastric cancer (GC), and its expression correlates with poor overall survival of GC patients. Finally, we found that the AS of the Rap Guanine Nucleotide Exchange Factor 6 (RapGEF6), a newly identified NOVA2 target, is altered in GC patients and associated with NOVA2 expression, tumor angiogenesis, and poor patient outcome. Our findings provide a better understanding of GC biology and suggest that AS might be exploited to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutics for anti-angiogenic GC treatments

    Binary classification of spoken words with passive elastic metastructures

    Many electronic devices spend most of their time waiting for a wake-up event: pacemakers waiting for an anomalous heartbeat, security systems on alert to detect an intruder, smartphones listening for the user to say a wake-up phrase. These devices continuously convert physical signals into electrical currents that are then analyzed on a digital computer -- leading to power consumption even when no event is taking place. Solving this problem requires the ability to passively distinguish relevant from irrelevant events (e.g. tell a wake-up phrase from a regular conversation). Here, we experimentally demonstrate an elastic metastructure, consisting of a network of coupled silicon resonators, that passively discriminates between pairs of spoken words -- solving the wake-up problem for scenarios where only two classes of events are possible. This passive speech recognition is demonstrated on a dataset from speakers with significant gender and accent diversity. The geometry of the metastructure is determined during the design process, in which the network of resonators ('mechanical neurones') learns to selectively respond to spoken words. Training is facilitated by a machine learning model that reduces the number of computationally expensive three-dimensional elastic wave simulations. By embedding event detection in the structural dynamics, mechanical neural networks thus enable novel classes of always-on smart devices with no standby power consumption.Comment: 13 pages, 9 figure

Interestingly, monozygotic twins share almost identical facial traits and the same DNA sequence but could exhibit differences in other biometrical parameters. The expansion of the world wide web and the possibility to exchange pictures of humans across the planet has increased the number of people identified online as virtual twins or doubles that are not family related. Herein, we have characterized in detail a set of "look-alike" humans, defined by facial recognition algorithms, for their multiomics landscape. We report that these individuals share similar genotypes and differ in their DNA methylation and microbiome landscape. These results not only provide insights about the genetics that determine our face but also might have implications for the establishment of other human anthropometric properties and even personality characteristics
