Halaf: Mezopotamya’nin “gizemli” neolitik seramiği
İlk dəfə XX əsrin əvvəllərindən başlayaraq haqqında danışılmağa baş-lanılan Xələf, XXI əsrdə də Mesopotamiyanın yazıyaqədərki tarixində "sirr" olaraq müzakirə edilməyə davam edir. Əlbəttə ki, çox saylı səbəblərlə yanaşı bu məsələdə keçən əsrdə arxeologiyada üstün olan yanaşmaların təsirləri də vardır. 1990-cı il-lərin əvvəllərindən etibarən Mesopotamiyanın mərkəzi sayılan İraqda arxeoloji araşdırmaların aparılmasındakı baş verən fasilə ilə yanaşı regionda qazıntılar apa-ran tədqiqatçılar köhnə qazıntıları tənqidi şəkildə yenidən nəzərdən keçirməyə baş-ladılar. 2011-ci ildən etibarən Suriyada arxeoloji işlərin dayanmasından sonra Mesopotamiyanın arxeoloji tədqiqatı yalnız Türkiyə sərhədlərində yerləşən abidə-lərin araşdırılması nəticəsində əldə edilən məlumatlarla davam etməkdədir. Bu mə-qalədə Mesopotamiyanın şimalındakı dağlıq bölgəni təşkil edən Türkiyədə aparılan arxeoloji tədqiqat işlərindən əldə edilən yeni məlumatların sayəsində bəzi şərhlər verilir
Okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının uzamsal düşünme becerilerinin incelenmesi
The aim of this study was to investigate prospective preschool teachers’ spatial thinking skills in terms
of gender, class standings, type of high school they previously graduated from and whether they attend a course on
early mathematics education or not. Survey Method was used in this study. A total of 132 prospective preschool
teachers who were attending a preschool teacher training program at a state university in Turkey participated in this
study. Santa Barbara Sense of Direction Scale (SBSOD) and Spatial Ability Self-Report Scale (SASRS) were used as
the data collection tools. Correlation Analysis was used to investigate correlation between the scores of two scales.
ANOVA, Independent-Samples T-Test, Kruskal Wallis-H Test and Mann Whitney-U Test were used according to the
assumptions of parametric tests. A positive correlation was found between the scores of two different scales.
Differences between the mean scores of participants in terms of gender, class standings, high school types and
whether they attended a course on early mathematics education or not, were not statistically significant for each
assessment scale, as other results of this study.Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının uzamsal düşünme becerilerinin cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi,
mezun olunan lise türü ve erken çocukluk matematik eğitimi dersini alıp almama durumları açısından incelemektir.

Microengineered responsive platforms for spatial and geometrical control of multicellular organizations
Thesis (Ph. D.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 2013.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references.Living systems are composed of complex multicellular organizations containing various cell types spatially distributed in defined microenvironments. The intricate cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions in these microenvironments regulate the cell fate, differentiation of the cells, and functions of the associated tissues. Recreating these complex associations in vitro can be highly useful for fabricating biomimetic tissues for regenerative medicine, disease models for drug discovery, and models to study embryogenesis. This thesis focused on developing microscale responsive platforms for spatial and geometrical control of multicellular organizations. The first part of the thesis describes methods to fabricate spherical and stripe microtissues of single cell types and their temperature-controlled retrieval. These microtissues were scaffold-free and can potentially produce homotypic cell-cell interactions. Microwells fabricated from poly(Nisopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) responded to temperature by changing their shapes. Spherical microtissues of a single cell type were formed in responsive microwells and recovered by using shape changing properties of microwells. Elastomeric microgrooves were conformally coated with PNIPAAm to first generate stripe microtissues of a single cell type, and then harvest them by exploiting the temperature-dependent hydrophilicity and swelling change of PNIPAAm film. The second part of the thesis introduces techniques to control spatial and geometrical distribution of multiple cell types in scaffold-free and scaffold-based tissues. Shape changing properties of dynamic microwells facilitated the sequential patterning of multicompartment hydrogels. Different cell types were spatially arranged in different compartments of microgels which may lead to complex cell-matrix interactions replicating native tissues. Shape changing properties of dynamic microwells were also employed to seed different cell types at different temperatures within defined geometries to control spatial and geometrical organization of multiple cell types. Resulting scaffold-free tissues can potentially produce homotypic and heterotypic cell-cell interactions. Dynamic microstructures with different geometries could be used to recapitulate complex native tissues with controlled cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The techniques presented in this thesis are versatile and may potentially be useful for replicating biological complexities for a wide range of applications in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, drug discovery, developmental biology, and cancer biology.by Halil Tekin.Ph.D
Comparison of Performances of Various Rehabilitation Approaches for a Hospital Building
In this study, the seismic performance of the Merkez Efendi hospital building in Manisa is determined with SAP2000 computer program according to the Turkish Earthquake Code-2007. The building and its footings do not provide sufficient performance level. So the superstructure is rehabilitated by converting some of the brick infill walls to RC shear walls. The seismic performance of the building reaches to the satisfactory level. Secondly, the same infill walls are strengthened with steel profiles according to Turkish Earthquake Code-2007. Thirdly, the same infill walls are strengthened with CFRP plates to get the required seismic performance level. The seismic performances of the hospital building are compared for the four cases
Superior mesenteric artery syndrome causing growth retardation
Superior mesenteric artery syndrome is a rare and lifethreateningclinical condition caused by the compressionof the third portion of the duodenum between the aortaand the superior mesenteric artery’s proximal part. Thiscompression may lead to chronic intermittent, acute totalor partial obstruction. Sudden weight-loss and the relateddecrease in the fat tissue are considered to be the etiologicalreason of acute stenosis. Weight-loss accompaniedby nausea, vomiting, anorexia, epigastric pain, andbloating are the leading complaints. Barium radiographs, computerized tomography, conventional angiography, tomographic and magnetic resonance angiography areused in the diagnosis. There are medical and surgical approachesto treatment. We hereby present the case ofa patient with superior mesenteric artery syndrome withdelayed diagnosis.Key words: superior mesenteric artery syndrome, nausea-vomiting, anorexi
