valikoituivat kaikki seurakunnalle ilmoittautuneet vanhukset. Tavoitteena oli
voimaantumisen ja sosiokulttuurisen innostamisen näkökulman esiintuominen. Toimeksiantaja
oli Kuusankosken seurakunnan diakoniatyö.
Opinnäytetyön teoriapohjana käytettiin pääasiassa voimaantumista sekä sosiokulttuurista
innostamista.
Sosiokulttuurisen
innostamisen näkökulmasta vanhukset olivat retkipäivän aikana osallistuvia ja aktiivisia.
Retkipäivän vaikutus nähtiin arkipäivän laatua kohottavana tekijänä.The aim of this functional study was to plan and carry out an empowering trip to the
camping center Pytynlahti for the elderly. The target group was the group of elderly
who had enrolled to the parish office. The aim was to bring out a view point of empowerment
and the sociocultural animation. Our employer was the diaconal work
of Kuusankoski.
Empowering and sociocultural animation were used as a theoretical part. The study
includes the planning of activities to the elderly and the method of implementation
and estimation as well as the feedback of the trip. The feedback was interpreted from
the viewpoint of the empowerment and sociocultural animation. The study wanted to
show the old age as a respected period of life.
According to the inquiry, the elderly had experienced making things together important
and meaningful and they considered the meaning of the congregation as an organizer
great. The elderly also thought that they are being cared and paid attention to
as a valuable group. The respect and being aware of that was connected with empowering.
The elderly participated actively from the viewpoint of the sociocultural animation,
and the influence of the day trip was seen as an increasing factor for the quality
of everyday life
Arkeologia digitaalisen aikakauden kynnyksellä
Abstract
Digitalisation is changing society and the sciences. In the future, it will increasingly affect Finnish archaeology and the preservation of cultural heritage data as a cross-cutting factor for materials and work practices.
The research focused on the current state and characteristics of the digitalisation of both global and Finnish archaeology. This study is the first doctoral dissertation that discusses the digitalisation of Finnish archaeology. Technologisation and computerisation of archaeology have been going on for decades, but even in a global context, the concept of digitalisation is rarely attached to archaeological discussion of these trends.
In this study, archaeology is examined through an interdisciplinary conceptual (theoretical) framework, which allowed comparison of the characteristics of digitalisation between global and Finnish archaeology. The aim was also to recognise digital development goals that may be either shared between various disciplines or specific to the field of archaeology. Archaeology was studied by utilising a variety of data sources and case examples. The answers to questions regarding digital development needs can be generalised to Finnish archaeology in its entirety.
The evolution towards digitalisation of global archaeology is a consequence of the development of information technologies. The internal development of discipline and emerging needs have also contributed to it. Archaeological concepts and paradigms related to digital transition are partly internal and continuously evolving. Technological development is uneven at the global level: there are trailblazers who already utilise the latest technologies. These trailblazers are currently developing digital infrastructures of various sizes, even transnationally. This trend is common in various disciplines, and during research work, it was identified as a predominant trend of international archaeology.
The internationally-recognised digital development goals of archaeology have not been widely discussed in Finland. Important areas of development include guidelines and best practices for digitality, understanding the importance of digital management and the digital data life-cycle, creating opportunities for the digitalisation of archaeological projects and processes, and providing access to original data collections.
Tutkimus on ensimmäinen arkeologian digitalisaatiota käsittelevä väitöskirja Suomessa.
Conceptualising eScience for Archaeology with Digital Infrastructures and Socio-Technical Dynamics
The paper introduces the concept of Digital Infrastructure (DI) and the associated notion of Socio- Technical Dynamics to archaeology. DI conceptualization of technology goes beyond the ‘technology as tool’ notion prevalent in archaeology by acknowledging the process of digitalization and socio-technical dynamics in integrating technologies into expanding configurations. We propose DIs for analysing archaeology in the eScience era, and as an illustration we discuss the paradox of control and change that concretizes for example in information models and standards. Standards have a central role in enhancing interoperability and ensuring the future use of data. The socio-technical dynamics of DIs recognizes standards together with technologies and users as networked constituents of DIs. In cultural heritage and archaeology, standards are emerging as global infrastructure components. We discuss how technology and standards as controlling mechanisms have implications for archaeological research practices and scientific procedures. Research into these mechanisms can guide designers, managers, and policymakers.Godkänd; 2014; Bibliografisk uppgift: Oikarinen, Teija and Helena Karasti (2014) Conceptualising eScience for Archaeology with Digital Infrastructures and Socio-Technical Dynamics. Longitudinal Metabolome-Wide Signals Prior to the Appearance of a First Islet Autoantibody in Children Participating in the TEDDY Study
Children at increased genetic risk for type 1 diabetes (T1D) after environmental exposures may develop pancreatic islet autoantibodies (IA) at a very young age. Metabolic profile changes over time may imply responses to exposures and signal development of the first IA. Our present research in The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in the Young (TEDDY) study aimed to identify metabolome-wide signals preceding the first IA against GAD (GADA-first) or against insulin (IAA-first). We profiled metabolomes by mass spectrometry from children's plasma at 3-month intervals after birth until appearance of the first IA. A trajectory analysis discovered each first IA preceded by reduced amino acid proline and branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), respectively. With independent time point analysis following birth, we discovered dehydroascorbic acid (DHAA) contributing to the risk of each first IA, and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABAs) associated with the first autoantibody against insulin (IAA-first). Methionine and alanine, compounds produced in BCAA metabolism and fatty acids, also preceded IA at different time points. Unsaturated triglycerides and phosphatidylethanolamines decreased in abundance before appearance of either autoantibody. Our findings suggest that IAA-first and GADA-first are heralded by different patterns of DHAA, GABA, multiple amino acids, and fatty acids, which may be important to primary prevention of T1D
Early probiotic supplementation and the risk of celiac disease in children at genetic risk
Abstract
Probiotics are linked to positive regulatory effects on the immune system. The aim of the study was to examine the association between the exposure of probiotics via dietary supplements or via infant formula by the age of 1 year and the development of celiac disease autoimmunity (CDA) and celiac disease among a cohort of 6520 genetically susceptible children. Use of probiotics during the first year of life was reported by 1460 children. Time-to-event analysis was used to examine the associations. Overall exposure of probiotics during the first year of life was not associated with either CDA (n = 1212) (HR 1.15; 95%CI 0.99, 1.35; p = 0.07) or celiac disease (n = 455) (HR 1.11; 95%CI 0.86, 1.43; p = 0.43) when adjusting for known risk factors. Intake of probiotic dietary supplements, however, was associated with a slightly increased risk of CDA (HR 1.18; 95%CI 1.00, 1.40; p = 0.043) compared to children who did not get probiotics. It was concluded that the overall exposure of probiotics during the first year of life was not associated with CDA or celiac disease in children at genetic risk
