Modeling of Intermediate Structures and Chain Conformation in Silica-Latex Nanocomposites Observed by SANS During Annealing
The evolution of the polymer structure during nanocomposite formation and
annealing of silica-latex nanocomposites is studied using contrast-variation
small angle neutron scattering. The experimental system is made of silica
nanoparticles (Rsi \approx 8 nm) and a mixture of purpose-synthesized
hydrogenated and deuterated nanolatex (Rlatex \approx 12.5 nm). The progressive
disappearance of the latex beads by chain interdiffusion and release in the
nanocomposites is analyzed quantitatively with a model for the scattered
intensity of hairy latex beads and an RPA description of the free chains. In
silica-free matrices and nanocomposites of low silica content (7%v), the
annealing procedure over weeks at up to Tg + 85 K results in a molecular
dispersion of chains, the radius of gyration of which is reported. At higher
silica content (20%v), chain interdiffusion seems to be slowed down on
time-scales of weeks, reaching a molecular dispersion only at the strongest
annealing. Chain radii of gyration are found to be unaffected by the presence
of the silica filler
Repeated successful surgical rescues of early and delayed multiple ruptures of ventricular septum, right ventricle and aneurysmal left ventricle following massive biventricular infarction
A 58 year old man underwent 6 surgical interventions for various complications of massive biventricular myocardial infarction over a period of 2 years following acute occlusion of a possibly "hyperdominant" left anterior descending coronary artery. These included concomitant repair of apicoanterior post-infarction VSD and right ventricular free wall rupture, repeat repair of recurrent VSD following inferoposterior extension of VSD in the infarcted septum 5 weeks later, repair of delayed right ventricular free wall rupture 4 weeks subsequently, repair of a bleeding left ventricular aneurysm eroding through left chest wall 16 months thereafter, repair of right upper lobe lung tear causing massive anterior mediastinal haemorrhage, mimicking yet another cardiac rupture, 2 months later, followed, at the same admission, 2 weeks later, by sternal reconstruction for dehisced and infected sternum using pedicled myocutaneous latissimus dorsi flap. 5 years after the latissimus myoplasty, the patient remains in NYHA class 1 and is leading a normal life
Need for systematic screening for IGD in adolescent psychiatric inpatients
International audiencePsychiatric comorbidities are frequent in adolescents with internet gaming disorder (IGD). In contrast, the proportion of IGD among adolescents hospitalized for a psychiatric disorder has not been documented yet. In addition, parental ratings of IGD could be useful for diagnosis, but very few data exist on this issue. The objectives of this study were to: (1) assess the prevalence of IGD among adolescent psychiatric inpatients, using the Ten-Item Internet Gaming Disorder Test (IGDT-10), and (2) assess the parental version developed for this study (IGDT-10-P). A total of 102 patients, aged from 12 to 17 years old, were included from four psychiatric units of the French region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, during a 6-month inclusion period. Adolescents completed the IGDT-10 while one of their parents completed the IGDT-10-P. The inclusion rate among the eligible population was 57.95%. The prevalence of IGD in the sample, based on the IGDT-10 and IGDT-10-P, was 6.00% and 12.79%, respectively. Psychometric features of the IGDT-10-P indicated excellent internal consistency, a good model fit to the one factor model in confirmatory factor analysis, a strong correlation with gaming time, and a moderate correlation with the IGDT-10. Our results support the need for a systematic screening of IGD among adolescents hospitalized for a psychiatric disorder. Future studies should aim to confirm and explain the prevalence gap between self- and parent-reported criteria
The French version of the autism-spectrum quotient in adolescents: a cross-cultural validation study
Conclusion.
