Water is one of the natural resources that is needed for the life of living things. Almost all activities require clean water, both for the metabolism of living things, agriculture and industry and is a major need. So that the availability of clean water sources needs to be maintained and looking for new sources. One source of clean water is atmospheric air which is very abundant. By using a water generator from stable atmospheric air, where the air enters the PAWG system in which there is a thermoelectric which can form a temperature difference in order to convert water into water vapor which then becomes condensate. The PAWG performance tested here is the inlet air velocity with variations of 0.27 m/s, 0.52 m/s and 0.97 m/s. The results show that the inlet air velocity affects the volume of condensate water and the performance of the Psys and COP systems. The higher the air velocity, the greater the volume of condensate water generated and the higher the Psys. But the results are different for COP, where the highest COP occurs at an inlet air speed of 0.52 m/s followed by a speed of 0.27 m/s and the smallest is 0.97 m/s

Kata kunci: marungga; perpindahan panas; lemari Abstract Marungga tree is one of the plants that have great benefits. The leaves themselves can be transformed into nutritional supplements and also as a cosmetic base ingredient. Marungga leaves themselves can be used as a powder for further processing into various needs. Before being made into powder, the leaf must be dried beforehand. Manual drying so far requires a long time and is not hygienic. In this study the results were obtained, the drying process for19 hours obtained the result of humidity reduction could not be done quickly. This is because the temperature in the room is not able to heat the surrounding air quickly so the drying process tends to be slower. With a drying load of 20 kg of raw Marungga leaves, about 3 kg of dried leaves are obtained. Keywords: marungga; heat transfer; cabinet

Background: A great interest has been dedicated to the development of non invasive predictive models in recent years to substitute liver biopsy for fibrosis assessment and follow-up. The aim of this study was to comparethe accuracy between S-index and aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI) to FibroScan for predicting liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B and C patients.Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 40 patients with chronic hepatitis B and C between January 2010 - May 2011 at Division of Gastroentero-hepatology, Department of Internal Medicine, Adam Malik Hospital, Medan. Patients underwent laboratory examination and FibroScan, then used predictive values to assess the accuracy of S-index scores and APRI compared to FibroScan. The analysis was performed using SPSS 15.0.Results: S-index identified significant fibrosis in 87.5% patients with sensitivity (Se) 87.5% and specificity (Sp) 100%. About 67.5% of 40 patients could be identified correctly. S-index also could accurately predict the absence or presence of cirrhosis in 87.5% of the total 40 patients, with NPV 91.7% and PPV 81.25%, respectively. APRI for significant fibrosis has Se 85.7%, Sp 88%, PPV 88.8%, NPV 69.2%; while Se 53%, Sp 88%, PPV 72.7%, NPV 75.8% for liver cirrhosis. AUROC value for S-index was higher than APRI in predicting significant fibrosis and cirrhosis, i.e. 0.938 vs. 0.917 and 0.873 and 0.707, respectively. Conclusion: The S-index has a higher accuracy than APRI in predicting significant fibrosis and cirrhosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus infection

How land use/land cover changes can affect water, flooding and sedimentation in a tropical watershed: a case study using distributed modeling in the Upper Citarum watershed, Indonesia

[EN] Human activity has produced severe LULC changes within the Upper Citarum watershed and these changes are predicted to continue in the future. With an increase in population parallel to a 141% increment in urban areas, a reduction of rice fields and the replacement of forests with cultivations have been found in the past. Accordingly, LCM model was used to forecast the LULC in 2029. A distributed model called TETIS was implemented in the Upper Citarum watershed to assess the impact of the different historical and future LULC scenarios on its water and sediment cycles. This model was calibrated and validated with different LULCs. For the implementation of the sediment sub-model, it was crucial to use the bathymetric information of the reservoir located at the catchment's outlet. Deforestation and urbanization have been shown to be the most influential factors affecting the alteration of the hydrological and sedimentological processes in the Upper Citarum watershed. The change of LULC decreases evapotranspiration and as a direct consequence, the water yield increased by 15% and 40% during the periods 1994-2014 and 2014-2029, respectively. These increments are caused by the rise of three components in the runoff: overland flow, interflow and base flow. Apart from that, these changes in LULC increased the area of non-tolerable erosion from 412 km(2) in 1994 to 499 km(2) in 2029. The mean sediment yield increased from 3.1 Mton -yr(-1) in the 1994 LULC scenario to 6.7 Mton-yr(-1) in the 2029 LULC scenario. An increment of this magnitude will be catastrophic for the operation of the Saguling Dam.This study was partially funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through the research projects TETISMED (CGL2014-58,127-C3-3-R) and TETISCHANGE (RTI2018-093717-B-I00). Mapping inequalities in exclusive breastfeeding in low- and middle-income countries, 2000–2018

    Get PDF
Abstract: Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF)—giving infants only breast-milk for the first 6 months of life—is a component of optimal breastfeeding practices effective in preventing child morbidity and mortality. EBF practices are known to vary by population and comparable subnational estimates of prevalence and progress across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are required for planning policy and interventions. Here we present a geospatial analysis of EBF prevalence estimates from 2000 to 2018 across 94 LMICs mapped to policy-relevant administrative units (for example, districts), quantify subnational inequalities and their changes over time, and estimate probabilities of meeting the World Health Organization’s Global Nutrition Target (WHO GNT) of ≥70% EBF prevalence by 2030. While six LMICs are projected to meet the WHO GNT of ≥70% EBF prevalence at a national scale, only three are predicted to meet the target in all their district-level units by 2030
