Establishment of Optimum Processing Conditions for Some Technological Manganese-Zinc Ferrites
This research work is an initial step to produce manganese-zinc ferrites in
the laboratory using the solid-state ceramic preparation method with controlled
atmospheres. The first part of the work was to develop the required material by
manipulation of composition. Then, the specimens were sintered at 1350°C in an
oxygen partial pressure. At this stage, a systematic crucial approach was used to
produce high permeability ferrites with suitable oxygen partial pressure. This
involved a gradual introduction of nitrogen gas into the furnace during sample
cooling giving an optimum equivalent isocompositional line. This work has
successfully produced materials (samples MRQI and MRQ2) suitable with the
permeability in the range of 2000 to 2500 when an average particle size was
reduced to ~2.5µm and zinc oxide was added to minimize zinc loss. Then the
sintering cycle was made to follow the isocompositional line In conclusion an optimum processing technique has been established for
producing ferrite materials with the desired magnetic properties

Remote voice training: A case study on space shuttle applications, appendix C
The Tile Automation System includes applications of automation and robotics technology to all aspects of the Shuttle tile processing and inspection system. An integrated set of rapid prototyping testbeds was developed which include speech recognition and synthesis, laser imaging systems, distributed Ada programming environments, distributed relational data base architectures, distributed computer network architectures, multi-media workbenches, and human factors considerations. Remote voice training in the Tile Automation System is discussed. The user is prompted over a headset by synthesized speech for the training sequences. The voice recognition units and the voice output units are remote from the user and are connected by Ethernet to the main computer system. A supervisory channel is used to monitor the training sequences. Discussions include the training approaches as well as the human factors problems and solutions for this system utilizing remote training techniques
Models of occupational medicine practice: An approach to understanding moral conflict in "dual obligation" doctors
In the United Kingdom (UK), ethical guidance for doctors assumes a therapeutic setting and a normal doctor-patient relationship. However, doctors with dual obligations may not always operate on the basis of these assumptions in all aspects of their role. In this paper, the situation of UK occupational physicians is described, and a set of models to characterise their different practices is proposed. The interaction between doctor and worker in each of these models is compared with the normal doctor-patient relationship, focusing on the different levels of trust required, the possible power imbalance and the fiduciary obligations that apply. This approach highlights discrepancies between what the UK General Medical Council guidance requires and what is required of a doctor in certain roles or functions. It is suggested that using this modelling approach could also help in clarifying the sources of moral conflict for other doctors with "dual obligations" in their various roles. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media B.V
Measuring Electromagnetic Properties of Superconductors in High and Localized RF Magnetic Field
Niobium-based Superconducting Radio Frequency (SRF) particle accelerator cavity performance is sensitive to localized defects that give rise to quenches at high accelerating gradients. In order to identify these material defects on bulk Nb surfaces at their operating frequency and temperature, it is important to develop a new kind of wide bandwidth microwave microscopy with localized and strong RF magnetic fields. A novel near-field magnetic field microwave microscope that enables mapping of the local electrodynamic response in the multi-GHz frequency regime at liquid helium cryogenic temperatures was successful built via the combination of a magnetic writer and a near field-microwave microscope [1] [2]. This magnetic writer can create a localized and strong RF magnetic field and should achieve a condition with Bsurface ~150 mT and sub-micron resolution (Chapter 3). Our objective is to study the extreme and local electrodynamic properties of Niobium (Nb), and to relate these properties to specific defects that limit the ultimate RF performance of superconducting radio frequency cavities made from Nb.
Therefore, in this dissertation, many superconducting materials, especially the candidate materials for superconducting RF cavities, were tested at a fixed location to analyze the local electrodynamic response through linear and nonlinear microwave measurements. For the linear measurement (Chapter 4), many fundamental properties of RF superconductivity such as the critical temperature Tc and penetration depth lambda can be identified. For the nonlinear response measurement (Chapter 5), both the intrinsic and extrinsic nonlinearities from the superconductors are excited by our magnetic write head probe. Many models are introduced to identify the measured nonlinearity, including the intrinsic nonlinearity from the modulation of the superconducting order parameter near Tc, and the extrinsic nonlinearity from the moving vortex model, weak-link Josephson effect, and the possible nonlinear mechanism from switching events between the Meissner state and the mixed state. These models of extrinsic nonlinearity are studied in Chapter 6.
The high transition temperature and low surface resistance of MgB2 attracts interest in its potential application in superconducting radio frequency accelerating cavities. However, compared to traditional Nb cavities, the viability of MgB2 at high RF fields is still open to question. Hence, in Chapter 7, two-gap high quality MgB2 films with thickness 50 nm, fabricated by a hybrid physical-chemical vapor deposition technique on dielectric substrates, are measured at a fixed location to investigate its RF properties. The third harmonic measurement on MgB2 films shows different nonlinear mechanisms compared to the bulk Nb measurement [3] . We conclude that the nonlinear response for the high quality MgB2 films at temperature less than Tc shows the nonlinearity from the moving vortices and from the following possible mechanisms: First, an intrinsic nonlinearity from the proximity-induced second Tc. Second, the intrinsic nonlinearity arising from Josephson coupling between the sigma and pi bands of the two gap nature of MgB2. Third: The potential nonlinearity from the reported superconducting nodal gap properties.
Finally the future plan to raster scan on the SRF candidate materials is proposed to relate the nonlinear electromagnetic images to the physical defects on the superconductor surface. These efforts can finally feed back to the cavity processing techniques and suggest new thoughts for alternate surface processing treatment in the future.

Entrepreneurs’ perception on the effect of entrepreneurs’ skills towards the entrepreneurial activities at Perak Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) Perak Secretary of State's Office / Norelina Mohd Tamin
A cross sectional study was conduct on entrepreneurs’ perception towards entrepreneurial activities organized by Perak Economic Planning Unit, with the aim to determining the relationship and the factors that affecting the entrepreneurs’ perception towards the entrepreneurial activities such as seminar, workshop, and expo. Using a structured questionnaire, data were derived from 100 respondents using simple random sampling. Descriptive statistics was used to describe perception level and independent variable while the relationships between variable were determined by estimates structural equation models (SEM). In this study, there are three independent variable namely effect on management, effect on financial and effect on marketing meanwhile the dependent variable namely entrepreneurs’ perception. The result supported that the entrepreneurs’ perception are effect to their improvement on financial and marketing skills. This result also state that every respondent have different opinion or perception towards the entrepreneurial activities that organized by the government based on the age, gender and education leve
