La cultura popular, la poesía popular y la décima

En este artículo exploro, en primer lugar, el origen, características, estructura y usos de la décima, tal como aparece en los versos de la poesía popular en América Latina y, más específicamente, en Chile. Luego, examino la suspicaz interrogante de algunos estudiosos de la literatura acerca del proceso por el cual una expresión como la décima, proveniente de una fuente literaria culta, se traspasa a la poesía popular y adquiere tal relevancia en ella, sobre todo en el contexto latinoamericano. Desarrollando ese anterior punto, en la última parte de este texto, intento proyectar esa interrogante (acerca de lo culto en lo popular) examinando los alcances culturales de ese fenómeno y, puntualmente, la reflexión que éste promueve (y, de algún modo, hace estallar) acerca de la definición misma de “cultura popular”

Reuma ja ravinto : Reumapotilaille suunnattu ravitsemusohjausaineisto

Tulehduksellisiin reumasairauksiin voidaan lääkehoidon lisäksi vaikuttaa oikeanlaisella ravinnolla. Reumapotilaat eivät aina saa hoitavalta taholta riittävää ravitsemusohjausta, joten heidän tulee hankkia usein tietoa itse. Reumapotilaiden tulisi saada oikeaa ja ajankohtaista tietoa ravitsemuksesta. Suomen Reumaliiton jäsenyhdistykset järjestävät jäsenilleen erilaisia koulutus- ja luentotilaisuuksia, joissa voidaan käsitellä esimerkiksi ravitsemusasioita. Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoitus oli kehittää sähköinen ravitsemusohjausaineisto reumayhdistyksen käyttöön. Ravitsemusohjausaineiston pohjana toimivat vuosina 2009¬2013 pidetyt Reuma ja ravitsemus -luennot. Näistä luennoista kerättiin palaute. Palautteesta saatujen konkreettisten kehitysehdotuksien, olemassa olevien luentopohjien ja teorian avulla lähdettiin kehittämään ravitsemusohjausaineistoa. Ravitsemusohjausaineistossa huomioitiin uusin ravitsemustieto ja uusimmat tutkimukset reumasta. Sähköinen ravitsemusohjausaineisto sisältää Reuma ja ravinto -luennon PowerPoint-tiedostona ja asioita kattavammin käsittelevän luennoitsijan tukimateriaalin Word-tiedostona. Ravitsemusohjausaineisto toteutettiin sähköisenä, koska näin sitä on helppo jakaa ja päivittää. Ravitsemusohjausaineiston tavoitteena oli lisätä reumapotilaiden tietämystä ravinnon vaikutuksista reumaan, helpottaa reumapotilaiden oikean tiedon saamista ravinnosta sekä oikaista virheellisiä käsityksiä ravitsemushoidoista. Ravitsemusohjausaineisto on toimiva apuväline reumayhdistyksen terveydenedistämistyössä.Diet may have influence on inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Rheumatoid pa-tients do not always get enough nutrition guidance and so they often try to find knowledge on their own. Rheumatoid patients need up to date and accurate information on nutrition. The Finnish Rheumatism Association and its local branches arrange various activities and lectures to their members. Nutrition is one important issue to be concerned with. Purpose of this thesis was to develop electronic nutritional guidance material for a local rheumatism society. The material is based on the Rheumatoid arthritis and nutrition –lecture which were given in 2009-2013 by the author of this thesis. The evaluation feedback of the lectures was collected. It gave concrete ideas for the development work. The feedback material, existing lecture templates and results of the information retrieval were the basis for the development of the nutrition guidance material. The aim of this thesis was to increase awareness of dietary effects on the arthritis of rheumatoid patients and to facilitate rheumatoid patients to get right information about nutrition, as well as to correct the false perception of nutrition treatment. The result of the development work was a nutrition guidance material for rheuma-toid association. Nutritional guidance material works as a tool for health promotion. The material is divided into two sections: the actual presentation material in PowerPoint –form and a larger text part for the instructor. It will be brought out in electronic form and it is therefore easy to update and deliver

Estimate of convection-diffusion coefficients from modulated perturbative experiments as an inverse problem

The estimate of coefficients of the Convection-Diffusion Equation (CDE) from experimental measurements belongs in the category of inverse problems, which are known to come with issues of ill-conditioning or singularity. Here we concentrate on a particular class that can be reduced to a linear algebraic problem, with explicit solution. Ill-conditioning of the problem corresponds to the vanishing of one eigenvalue of the matrix to be inverted. The comparison with algorithms based upon matching experimental data against numerical integration of the CDE sheds light on the accuracy of the parameter estimation procedures, and suggests a path for a more precise assessment of the profiles and of the related uncertainty. Then, CDA is a suitable approach to analyze it. The study is aimed: (1) to identify the intention behind creating Family Channel\u27s Anti-Bullying campaign; (2) to find out the role of Family Channel\u27s Anti-Bullying campaign for society; (3) to find out whether the viewers agree or disagree with Family Channel\u27s Anti-Bullying campaign.This study uses qualitative quantitative approach to provide better understanding and answer to wide range of research questions. The qualitativeresearch could provide in-depth and rich data, while the quantitative method isuseful toward generalizing research findings.This study reveals that behind the campaign, there is hidden intention to build good imagery of Canadian government and Family Channel Canada. This campaign\u27s role is to lead the society to the path that has been planned by theCanadian government and Family Channel Canada and to mold public\u27s opinion.Lastly, there are 143 agree comments from the total 509 comments, it could begeneralized that viewers actually agree with this campaign.The writer suggests the society to be more selective and smart in watchingsomething. The powerful sides also should maintain their power well and use itonly for the society needs. It would be better if the next researcher digs up deeper in the field of discourse in our daily life. Maybe, the discourse that lays behind some figures and images in advertisements. Developing the discourse behind those images could also do by combining the theory of CDA and theory of visual design

Social and Economic Consequences of the Tsunami Phenomenon in Southeast Asia

The number of victims made by the tsunami in Southeast Asia is frightening. The available data indicate over 300.000 victims, to whom we must add several hundred thousands of injured people and over 1.75 million people left homeless. The survivors have to deal with the crude truth: the loss of loved ones, of their homes/belongings and, why not, of their own identity. Organizations from all over the world contribute to the reconstruction/rebuilding of the area. The different cultural values (particularly religious ones) give rise to conflicts between these organizations and the locals. The area has achieved considerable economic progress in the last three years; although affected by the disaster, progress will not be stopped. The main domains of activity directly affected by the catastrophe are tourism and fishing. Nevertheless, the impact on international tourism is not significant, due to aspects such as the reduced market share of the affected areas, the Asian capacity to recover after all kinds of disasters, or the compensating factor.Tsunami; Local population; Religion; Economic growth; Tourism; Compensatory factor; Safety factor.

Space Debris Removal using a Tether: A Model

Focused on the removal of space debris, this paper studies the modeling of a target satellite connected to a chaser satellite by a tether. All dynamic couplings between the flexible and rigid modes of the satellites are accounted for. The tether attached to both satellites is modeled as a massless spring when stretched and non-existent when compressed. The objective of this work is to model the behaviour of the three bodies: chaser, tether, and target in the orbital reference frame for arbitrary initial conditions of the target satellite. Simulations of the whole system including the chaser Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) are performed to evaluate its ability to damp the debris tumbling motion and to tow the debris

Hospetitiveness – the Empirical Model of Competitiveness in Romanian Hospitality Industry

Our interest is focused on an important sector of the national economy: the hospitality industry. The paper is the result of a careful analysis of the literature and of a field research. According to the answers of hotels' managers, competitiveness is based mainly on service quality and cost control. The analyses of questionnaires and dedicated literature lead us to the design of a competitiveness model for hospitality industry, called "Hospetitiveness – The empirical model of competitiveness in the Romanian hospitality industry". The model has three levels: the first level (the base) is represented by decisive factors of competitiveness: human resources, innovation, services and costs, which influence all hotels' operations. The second level consists in the inclusion of competitiveness factors’ attributes in the organization’s processes and operations, in order to reach the objectives and obtain competitive advantage. This is the level where all the competitiveness factors are transposed in objective measures, in order to make them easily understood by the employees. The third level illustrates the dimensions of competitiveness as results of the impact of the decisive factors on the organization’s internal processes and operations. These dimensions are: customer satisfaction, market position and internal and external social responsibility. The model is dynamic, being the starting point for specific models in hotel management (e.g. business or seaside hotels’ management), and also the base for a best practices guide that translates competitiveness factors into key competitive advantage.competitiveness, hospitality industry, hotel management, competitive advantage
