The aim of this research was to explore perception toward single women, according to respondents from 4 different subject groups. Exploration on topic was intriguing to be further researched, considering that the percentage of single women had been increasing in numerous countries, but the discussion was lacking, especially in Indonesia. Respondents in this study were Indonesian single or married men and women aged 25-70 years. Respondents were gathered through purposive incidental sampling (N = 128) and consisted of 41 single women, 49 married women, 13 single men, and 25 married men. An open-ended questionnaires constructed by the first author was used as measurement tools. Respondents were tasked to mention perceived positive and negative impression toward single women. Data gathered underwent two analysis stages. The first part was a descriptive content analysis and the second stage was a descriptive statistical analysis comparing means from one-way ANOVA. Statistical analysis showed significant result (average p < .05) when comparing means of positive and negative perception based on demographic statistics. Results showed significant negative perception and strong labeling toward single women although there were also significant positive perceptions. Negative and positive perceptions of single women tend to be universal from several generations of adults

This research was about the Social Perspective Taking instrument which was adapted from a instrument developed by Diazgranados and friends in 2016, by adjusting the setting of the Indonesian Navy. Procedures used with the cross-cultural adaptation stage started from the process of translating to field testing (Beaton, Bombardier, Guillemin, & Ferraz, 2000). Subject involved 120 Navy officers with the rank of major. Sampling using simple random sampling techniques and statistical tests were SEM analysis. The results of the study were all valid items (loading factor> 0.5) and reliable indicators. Goodness of fit model was quite good. This instrument is expected to detect the right candidate for officers and assist the process of preparing officers to become leaders whose decisions are not solely based on knowledge from military education, but also consider perspectives on the thoughts, feelings and behavior of others. The weakness of this instrument is the item in the form of open questions, so it requires more time and effort compared to similar tests with answer choices. Keywords: social perspective taking, instrument, office

Individual Education Program (IEP) Paperwork : A Narrative Review

Get PDF
The Individual Education Program (IEP) is a statement of a set of educational goals for students with special needs, which contains description of the support services obtained by the students to achieve their educational goals. Although teachers understand the benefits of IEP, teachers consider the preparation of IEP as a burden of administrative duties. The purpose of this narrative review is to illustrate how long the teacher completed the IEP administrative tasks, to explain why the compilation and implementation of IEP is viewed by the teacher as a burden, and to describe the strategies to minimize obstacles related to the administrative burden of IEP. The narrative review procedure includes several stages. First, journals reviewed in this paper are traced through e-journal databases, using the certain keywords. Secondly, the journals used in this review are based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Then, the authors searched and selected relevant studies on the topic, i.e. studies on the administrative burden of IEP paperwork. The result of this review shows that special needs teachers spend more time doing IEP administrative tasks than assessing students’ assignments, communicating with parents, sharing and discussing with colleagues. IEP paperwork takes up more than 10% of working time. The reasons why teachers perceive the IEP paperwork as burdens, are because of the large number of IEP forms and details, the multiple IEP service lines, the lack of knowledge and skills of the personnels relating to the preparation or implementation of IEPs, the lack of assistance of administrative staff to complete the IEP paperwork, and the short / limited deadlines for administrative duties of IEP. The proposed strategies to minimize the administrative burden of IEP are improving appropriate technology, streamlining the contents of IEP forms, group IEP and increase the IEP administrative skills of the teachers
