A design of Personal Information Push-Delivery System on the Internet

    Get PDF
The Internet provides a powerful disseminative ability for users to acquire information more efficiently and quickly. However, an increasingly large scale of data induces certain problems as users face a more serious information overload situation. By using an information retrieval technique, information push-delivery provides a good solution for users to acquire rich information from the Internet. In fact, providing personal service for users is one of the mo st important issues in an electronic commerce (EC) environment. In order to increase interaction between themselves and customers, many enterprises provide personal services to improve management performance and competitiveness. However, since the customers have different preferences for information received from the Internet, it seems necessary to design a personal information system to guarantee that the customers can receive the desired information. In this study, the fuzzy retrieval and similarity measurement techniques are applied to design a personal information push-delivery system. The data resulting from testing a group of students at Da-Yeh University, Changhua, Taiwan, shows that the satisfaction degree for the received information for all participants was 70%. These results indicate that the proposed system can effectively provide correct and interesting information to users

In a competitive environment, how to provide the information and products to meet the requirements of customers and improve the customer satisfaction will be the key criteria to measure a company’s competitiveness. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) becomes an important issue in any business market gradually. Using information technology, businesses can achieve their requirements for one to one marketing more efficiently with lower cost, labor and time. In this paper, we proposed a user preference perception model by using data mining technology on a web-based environment. First, the users’ web browse records are aggregated. Second, fuzzy set theory and most sequential pattern mining algorithm are used to infer the users’ preference changes in a period. After the test had processed, we use the on-line questionnaire to investigate the customer satisfaction degree from all participators. The results show that the degree of satisfaction was up to 72% for receiving the new information of participants whose preferences had been changed. It indicates that the proposed system can effectively perceive the change of preference for users on a web environment

    Inductance modeling for onchip interconnects

Abstract. As the operation frequency reaches gigahertz in deep-submicron designs, the effects of inductance on noise and delay can no longer be neglected. Most of the previous works on inductance extraction are field-solvers, which are intrinsically more accurate but computationally expensive. Others focus on modeling the inductances of special routing topologies such as the bus structure. Therefore, it is not suitable to incorporate them on-line into a layout (placement and routing) tool for inductance (delay and noise) optimization. In this paper, we consider the overlapping of unequal wire lengths and dimensions to efficiently extract the loop inductance from the coplanar interconnect structure. The difference between our simulation results and the estimation values obtained by FastHenry [12] is within 10% for practical cases. In particular, our modeling is extremely efficient, and thus can be incorporated into a layout tool for inductance optimization

Deficiency of Mkrn2 causes abnormal spermiogenesis and spermiation, and impairs male fertility.

Although recent studies have shed insights on some of the potential causes of male infertility, new underlining molecular mechanisms still remain to be elucidated. Makorin-2 (Mkrn2) is an evolutionarily conserved gene whose biological functions are not fully known. We developed an Mrkn2 knockout mouse model to study the role of this gene, and found that deletion of Mkrn2 in mice led to male infertility. Mkrn2 knockout mice produced abnormal sperms characterized by low number, poor motility, and aberrant morphology. Disruption of Mkrn2 also caused failure of sperm release (spermiation failure) and misarrangement of ectoplasmic specialization (ES) in testes, thus impairing spermiogenesis and spermiation. To understand the molecular mechanism, we found that expression of Odf2, a vital protein in spermatogenesis, was significantly decreased. In addition, we found that expression levels of Odf2 were decreased in Mkrn2 knockout mice. We also found that MKRN2 was prominently expressed in the sperm of normal men, but was significantly reduced in infertile men. This result indicates that our finding is clinically relevant. The results of our study provided insights into a new mechanism of male infertility caused by the MKRN2 downregulation

Comparison of cerebrospinal fluid space between probable normal pressure hydrocephalus and Alzheimer’s disease

IntroductionIdiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a potentially reversible syndrome characterized by complex symptoms, difficulty in diagnosis and a lack of detailed clinical description, and it is difficult to distinguish from Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The objective of this study was to design a method for measuring the actual amount of hydrocephalus in patients with INPH and to evaluate INPH.MethodsAll subjects underwent a 3D T1-weighted MRI. Statistical parametric mapping 12 was used for preprocessing images, statistical analysis, and voxel-based morphometric gray matter (GM) volume, white matter (WM) volume, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) volume analysis. The demographic and clinical characteristics of the groups were compared using a t-test for continuous variables and a chi-square test for categorical variables. Pearson’s correlation analysis and Bonferroni’s statistic-corrected one-way ANOVA were used to determine the relationship among demographic variables. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to assess the accuracy of the callosal angle (CA), WM ratio, and CSF ratio in distinguishing probable INPH from AD.ResultsThe study included 42 patients with INPH, 32 patients with AD, and 24 healthy control subjects (HCs). There were no differences among the three groups in basic characteristics except for Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). There was a correlation between the intracranial CSF ratio and CA. The WM ratio and CSF ratio in patients with INPH and AD were statistically different. Furthermore, the combination of CA, WM ratio, and CSF ratio had a greater differential diagnostic value between INPH and AD patients than CA alone.ConclusionINPH can be accurately assessed by measuring intracranial CSF ratio, and the addition of WM ratio and CSF ratio significantly improved the differential diagnostic value of probable INPH from AD compared to CA alone
